Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser and Moisturizing Lotion, 591ml
Bought for: P400/each only | SRP: P1000+/each
Bought from: a fellow blogger seller
Last month, I scored some goodies at such steal prices when a fellow seller of mine did some decluttering. These products were just ones among all super discounted items so I had to purchase. After all, I have been meaning to buy myself the gentle cleanser when the soap which I bought from a favorite brand suddenly did not work on me. I seemed to lose my hiyang factor after a few weeks so I decided to change my skin care routine, including the Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser and Moisturizing Lotion to it. And I will be talking about them today so here's a review about my experience. I know there are lots of reviews available online but I just want to share my thoughts about them anyway. These deserve one as they became a staple to me these days.
CETAPHIL GENTLE SKIN CLEANSER
Claims: Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser is a mild, non-irritating formulation that soothes skin as it cleans. In fact, it's gentle enough for a baby's delicate skin. Designed specifically to work for all skin types, it is a simple, yet highly effective way to care for your skin.
• Our best-seller and fan favorite
• As gentle as it gets — soothes and cleanses, leaving skin smooth and soft
• Mild, soap-free formula cleanses without irritation — it won’t strip skin of its natural protective oils or emollients
• Moisturizes without leaving residue that can clog pores
• Good for special skin needs including those of rosacea-prone skin
• Available sizes: 2oz, 4oz, 8oz, 16oz
The pump I got here is the largest one so it is not convenient to bring when travelling. What I do is transfer a small amount of this to a clean travel-sized bottle and in that way, I don't have any excuse to not use this every single day. The pump is functional as you can open or stop it from dispensing the product.
This product claims to be mild on skin so expect that this is non-drying due to loads of emollients that you can find on the product's ingredient list. This is even mild enough to use for babies' skin. A lot of consumers use this as well and it's widely popular as a product that is for those with sensitive skin. I have super oily skin (you might know it already if you have been reading my blog for quite a while) but I still decide to give this a try because a lot of people recommend this cleanser to soothe my acne-prone skin because of its gentle formulation. Sometimes, those with harsher and tougher ingredients may harm us even more and I a living testimony how my skin reacts worse to them and you know what is even worse? My skin became even oilier than before so I am choosing gentle cleansers from now on and be more mindful of the products that I will use.
Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser has a very mild scent and is almost transparent in color with hints of shimmer on it. I have read somewhere that Cetaphil Cleansers vary depends on the location where it was produced (eg. Cetaphil Gentle Cleansers from the Middle East looks like the one I have, while those that are sold in Watsons are slightly blurry in texture but also as creamy). There are lots of counterfeit Cetaphil products being sold in the market today for such cheap prices. Just keep in mind that authentic Cetaphil Gentle Cleansers do not lather much on the skin, moisturizing and is fragranced-free and no matter how different they look, the effect is just the same. Fake ones lathers richly and is heavily-fragranced.
Since this product does not lather much on the skin, it tends to not be able to remove heavy or deep traces of makeups on the skin so you might want to use a separate makeup remover prior to cleansing your face. When you apply it on your skin, you can either rinse the product with water or just wipe it off with a wet tissue or clean towel if your skin needs more moisture.
This product really lives up to its word. This is definitely gentle and is non-irritating. I like letting the product stay on my skin for a few more minutes before rinsing off so oils and dirt and even dead skin cells may loose up and eventually be removed. To date, this is the best gentle cleanser for me. By the way, according to today.com, you may also find this product multi-tasking for it can be used as an additional ingredient if you are making a scrub, wash color-treated hair, used as an alternative to killing lice, moisturizing alternative to shaving creams, alternatives to eye makeup remover and brush-cleaner!
CETAPHIL MOISTURIZING LOTION
Claims: Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion is specifically formulated to soothe your chronically dry skin. Once applied, your skin feels soft and smooth. It is non-greasy, non–irritating and non–comedogenic (won't clog pores), leaving you feeling more comfortable in your own skin.
• Lightweight hydration to replenish sensitive and normal skin
• Fast-acting, long-lasting, light-weight formula helps maintain healthy skin
• Special ingredients are proven to bind water to skin and help prevent moisture loss
• Protects and enhances skin’s natural moisture
• Available sizes: 2oz, 4oz, 8oz, 16oz
Just like the cleanser, the counterpart lotion that I have also come in the biggest size you know so it's hard to bring this wherever I want. I would still have to transfer some creams to small jars so I can use it anytime.
This lotion is suitable for face and body use and since I bought the cleanser, why not buy this lotion as well, right? So I can have at least a low-maintenance skin care if I want to. Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion smells mild as well and I see this as a water-based moisturizer that effectively soothes any skin problem even with only a little amount. The cream itself is very lightweight but not too runny and comes in an opaque white texture. It gets absorbed to skin easily as well without any sticky or greasy feel. Since I have oily skin, its moisturizing and hydrating factor is sufficient already to get rid of the tight feeling I am having after cleansing the face. However, if you have dry skin, you might want to use a heavy-duty moisturizer to hydrate your skin.
This lotion does not break me out or cause any tingling sensation or even irritation so it must really be that holy grail moisturizer I am looking for all this time. If you are getting away from moisturizers which leaves some white greasy film on the skin, you might want to switch to Cetaphil Lotion now. Indeed, it's non-comedogenic (won't clog pores) so it suits whatever skin type you have. One thing I find off about it though is the fact that it does not have built-in sun protection. so I still need to apply a separate sunscreen on top of it.
OVERALL THOUGHTS
I am personally loving my Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser and Moisturizing Lotion! I notice that after using both for quite some time, breakouts were kept at bay and I am not having any cystic acnes. Though I am still breaking out (red days), my pimples looks relatively smaller than before and less severe, itchy and even fewer in number. I plan on including this on my skin care routine (like ever) and if I changed my mind, I'm sure I will be coming back for these.
