Maxipeel Micro-Exfoliant Soap Review

Say I'm a late bloomer because I just recently discovered that Maxipeel has a face and body soap too called the Maxipeel Micro-Exfoliant Soap. I'm quite familiar with Maxipeel line because I have tried almost, if not all, of their face products. There are a few that I remember to have great liking to such as the exfoliant solution, moisturizing cream, and classic facial cleanser. I also used to love their facial wash and scrub! I remember myself repurchasing their facial scrub over and over way back college years. Just recently, during my random visit to the drugstore, I've looked for it everywhere but to no avail. Maybe they already discontinued the product? I don't know but I'm hoping that they just ran out of stock.

There are also a few that I think are so-so, say the sun protection, concealing and exfoliating creams. I also did not see much effect with the popular Maxipeel Zero Micro-Exfoliant Fluid either. Hmm, remind me to do a detailed review of each products, will you?

CLAIMS

Maxi-Peel Exfoliant Soap is specifically designed to compliment exfoliating skin. It has Skin Renewal System that removes dead skin cells to reveal a blemish-free, smoother and whiter skin all over the body. This product is anti-acne (contains salicylic acid to prevent body breakouts such as those on back, shoulders and chest); smoothening (has micro-beads that gently massage your skin to remove dead skin cells); and whitening (evens out and whitens skin complexion in as fast as 5 to 7 days). Maxi-Peel Exfoliant Soap can be used for face and for body and is dermatologically-proven safe and effective.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Apply on skin during bathing and while washing the face. Leave for at least 1 minute. Wash and dry. You may apply other complementary products after washing with Maxi-Peel Exfoliant Soap. Apply Maxi-Peel Sun Protection Cream during day time for added protection. Apply Maxi-Peel Micro-Exfoliant Cream during night time to avoid too much dryness of the skin.

The product comes in a box and there you'll find all necessary information like claims, ingredients, manufacturing dates, etc. Scent is very fresh and mild. Not overpowering. Product is off-white in color and as you look closer, you'll see that it has micro beads which aids in skin exfoliation.

I personally didn't like using this soap on my face because I prefer a milder facial wash considering that by the time I was using this soap, I'm also using the exfoliant solution for my breakouts. Using both will be just too much. I'm not comfortable scrubbing my face with this soap just so I can feel the tiny beads. So I mainly use this product all over my body from neck downwards.

This soap reminds me of Belo Essentials Papaya Brightening + Clearing Soap in terms of texture and the feel of it on your hands. Although I'm not used to applying Maxipeel Micro-Exfoliant Soap on my face, I did like the feeling of it on my body. The scrubs made my skin firmer and it soft of relaxes my nerves too. If you are someone who's tired from work, going home and resting with a warm bath and exfoliating soap is quite helpful. The only downside is that as the soap gets smaller, the lesser the beads you'll feel and the lather will be not as rich. I think that's the case with most bar soaps. Anyway, this is inexpensive so repurchasing wouldn't be too much.

I didn't have that much 'backne' or pimples on my body but I do get them from time to time. Using this soap helped me dry them out faster and the blemishes lighter. You just have to religiously use the soap and let it stay for about a minute or two before your rinse it off. Fortunately, my skin doesn't develop any irritations or itchiness after several days of using. You just have to make sure to slather a great amount of body lotion after bath to help replenish lost moisture. That's the thing with most exfoliants - they could be drying.

Maxipeel Micro-Exfoliant Soap is able to soften and smoothen my skin all over. It also helps to look a lot clearer too. It leaves me squeaky clean after every wash and it feels refreshing. As for the whitening claims, my skin is somewhat fair in the first place so I'm just considering it as a maintenance product. It won't whiten your skin significantly or fully remove scars and blemishes, but you can expect that it will enhance the skin's natural radiance and glow. The secret is to use it consistently. Overall, not a bad product for the price and I'll surely consider buying it again in the near future.

Naturals by Watsons Rice Bran Cream Bath Review

Naturals by Watsons Rice Bran Cream Bath
Bought for: Free with points | SRP: P199 (490ml)
Bought from: Sample Room

Recently, I found myself using body wash more often just because regular bath soaps can be too drying on the skin. So when we finished the one we have from Olay, I immediately gave Naturals by Watsons Rice Bran Cream Bath a try. It wasn't my first time using a Watson's very own product - the first one was a hand lotion - but it still excites me whenever I am using a product that's new and natural. The thought of using body oils and whatnot really is interesting for me.

CLAIMS

Experience double the power of Rice Bran for extra brightening; Rice Bran from Japan made to brighten the skin. Naturals by Watsons Rice Bran Bath & Body range contains Organic Rice Bran from Japan. One of Japan’s best-kept beauty secrets, rice bran has been used for centuries to brighten and even out skin tone, for luminous-looking skin. This cream bath gently cleanses the skin with a soothing soap-free formula that releases an airy foam.

KEY INGREDIENTS

  • Natural Rice Bran Oil is rich in antioxidants and Vitamin E for healthier and more radiant skin.
  • Organic Rice Bran Extract has a powerful antioxidant to brighten and rejuvenate the skin.
  • Organic Soybean Extract helps renew skin and contains lecithin to prevent premature ageing.
  • Vitamin B3 and E protect against UV damage and boost the skin’s radiance and elasticity.
***Free from Paraben, Mineral Oil, Silicones, Colourants, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Soap, Isothiazolinone (MIT, CMIT, BIT)

HOW TO USE

Apply an appropriate amount of Naturals by Watsons Rice Bran Cream Bath onto your palm or a sponge. Gently massage all over your body. Rinse off thoroughly with water.

PACKAGING

The packaging is what you'd expect to look like when you say 'natural'. I say it looks very simple and earth-friendly. You will be able to see all necessary information about the product on the bottle. It comes with a wooden cap and pump that function well. One bottle has 490 ml of product so it must be nice to have travel-sized bottles wherein you can decant some into.

SCENT, TEXTURE AND EASE OF APPLICATION

Naturals by Watsons Rice Bran Cream Bath smells fresh and subtle. It comes in a thin cloudy liquid type that lathers richly when applied onto the skin. Not as soapy as other body washes though so if you have perspired the entire day, you may have to use a lot more than what you normally use. This is just a minor issue though as product is inexpensive and it comes in a huge size bottle. Also, foamy cleansers can be too drying as well. I like that it rinses well and doesn't leave the skin taut and dry - thanks to all the oils and extracts it has.

PERFORMANCE

This is a great household product that you have to purchase if you are looking for a safe and affordable cream bath to use at home. It keeps skin healthy and soft and it definitely would bring out the skin's natural glow as it cleanses and refreshes skin. I'll definitely repurchase because everyone at home is liking it.

Charis M+ Madecassoside Cica Cream Review

Charis M+ Madecassoside Cica Cream
SRP: P1190 (50ml) | P870 (30ml)
From: Charis

Finally! I know Charis will come up with their very own product but I did not expect it to be this soon. I'm sure I'm not the only one who kept on guessing what their first product would be but I was so happy that it's a multi-functional cream. I haven't tried a lot of Cica Creams before, in fact I think I only had one apart from this and that was the very popular Centellian 24 Madeca Derma Cream which was a so-so. When I received these in the mail, I eventually tried it and now that I think I had enough time of road-testing, I'm going to share with you how it works for me. Please keep reading after the short break!

CLAIMS

Charis M+ Madecassoside Cica Cream claims to be a multi high tech solution for sensitized skin and works to clarify, lift, relax and moisten the skin. It contains Madecassoside and Centella Asiatica Leaf Extract providing delicate hydration and moisturization effects to the sensitive skin damaged from external stimulation.

INGREDIENTS

There are tons of ingredients found in this product and mostly are extracts from plants and herbs. About 58% are composed of Tiger Leaf Extract or also known as Centella Asiatica so if you don't have any problems with that, this may be safe for you. I haven't had any problems with this ingredient before so I'm not very cautious when I tried this. It's claimed as a cream for all skin types but better be safe. If you are sensitive to any extracts listed down below, I highly suggest to do a patch test first as we never know the exact concentration and how your skin will react towards it.

PACKAGING

I was given both the 30 and the 50 ml tubes but they are housed in the same packaging. It comes with a teal and white cardboard box that has all the information you will ever need about the product including the claims, directions for use, ingredient and expiry date (one year after opening).

The product itself is contained in an aluminum tube that looks very clinical and hygienic. I imagine putting on some ointment as I use it. It's lightweight and travel-friendly though just like what you expect, it's kinda hard to scrape the very last drops. I cut my skin about twice while I was trying to do that. It's nothing serious though.

The mouth is sealed with an aluminum upon purchase for sanitary purposes and I like that it's easy to control the amount to use. I would appreciate if it comes with a pointed nozzle though.

APPLICATION

I use this product twice every day. First thing in the morning after toner and before sunscreen and at the last step of my night time skincare. I only use half a pea-sized amount since a little goes a long way. I make sure to apply more on the drier areas such as around the eyes and neck. It's also a great soothing cream to apply anywhere your body after you wax or do either chemical or physical exfoliation to calm redness and irritation.

SCENT, TEXTURE AND EASE OF APPLICATION

The cream has a little bit of an herbal scent, almost to the point that it's indistinguishable. The product has an opaque white color and has a very rich and creamy texture. It has a consistent formulation and true enough, it gets absorbed by the skin easily without any stickiness. The good thing about it is that you can layer it with makeups though your base might move around and cake on the latter part of the day. This cream warms my skin and my face is oilier during midday whenever I have this on. And when there's oil, you know what happens to your base. You will also wake up with a face looking like a grease ball. It must be the summer but I think this cream is the culprit as I'm not as oily when it's just my regular toner and cream.

PERFORMANCE

Despite the fact that it makes my skin so oily, it doesn't clog my pores or causes breakouts. Because of the rich texture, it's able to soften the skin, lessen redness overtime and make it look healthier and plumper. It's best to use during night time when your skin is healing and you'll wake up with smoother and clearer skin. Since it's formulated to be highly moisturizing, this will be more suitable for those with dry skin and as a cream to moisturize the areas where frequent loss of moisture occur--eyes and neck. Remember what beauty gurus say, the more your skin is moisturized, the longer it will take to age. Do keep that in mind.

Another thing I'd like to point out is that it works as a hand and foot cream too! It's able to soften calluses on the soles and palms and moisture stays longer. It might be on the steeper side of skin care but do take note that a little goes a long way so it's still worth the repurchase.

Cathy Doll White Milk Shine Peeling Body Scrub Review

Cathy Doll White Milk Shine Peeling Body Scrub
Bought for: P249/320ml
Bought from: SM Store

I've only tried a few products from Cathy Doll and there face powders are something that I liked. Just after that, I found out that they also have skincare line which I decided to explore so I got myself this particular scrub to begin with. I'm familiar with peeling gels for the face but I guess it would be the first time I ever heard a peeling gel for the body. Sounds interesting right?  I love effective body scrubs because they really smoothen and deep cleanse the skin and body scrubs in any form will always be something I'm excited to try. So, I guess the question is, did Cathy Doll White Milk Shine Peeling Body Scrub work?

CLAIMS

The milky body scrub gel is rich in Milk Protein and contains White Strawberry. The gel texture is full with moisture that helps to remove inactive skin cells and stimulate the skin cell renewal at the same time while reducing wrinkles and dullness after application. It is rich in milk protein that smoothens the skin. It also helps remove inactive skin cells and stimulates the skin renewal at the same time while reducing dullness.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Gently massage on dry skin until dead skin cells are peeled off. Then rinse off with clean water. Use this twice a week.

INGREDIENTS

Aqua; Glycerin; Silica; Carbomer; Milk Protein; PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil; Diazolidinyl; Urea; fragrance; Cetrimonium; Chloride; Glutathione; Arbutin; Hyaluronic Acid; Ubiquinone; Niacin; Fragaria Chiloensis Fruit Juice

PACKAGING

I think that the overall packaging is very hygienic. When I bought it, it's still wrapped in an outer plastic. It also has an inner protection seal so the product won't just leak or drip. The container is huge enough to carry 320ml of product so I think decanting to small containers will be very useful when you are someone who travels a lot. The overall packaging is very cute and appealing and that's something you can always expect with Cathy Doll. It has all necessary information like claims, directions, ingredient lists, as well as manufacturing and expiry dates.

SCENT, TEXTURE AND CONSISTENCY

The peeling body scrub smells chemicals which is fine as I'm not really picky with scents. It has a gel texture that kind of turns liquidy when gets in touched with the skin. It does not sting the skin so  I believe even those who have sensitive skin may still opt to using this. It also rinses well without leaving any sticky, slimy residue.

OVERALL PERFORMANCE

This product is packed with Milk Proteins and White Strawberry that is supposed to renew and moisturize the skin. I did not see such significant effect though because I stopped using after the second applicator. Why? I think it's just a waste of time if your main concern is to scrub away dead skin cells. This product just turns liquid when applied and you have to massage your skin hard and several times to create just few and tiny 'scrubs'. It's tiring and at the same time, doesn't feel like it's thoroughly cleaning/exfoliating the skin. I know other peeling gels that peels away dead skin cells in just seconds.

So no, I'm not gonna settle on this one. My skin felt sore from all the rubbing. I regret spending P249 for this and would not really recommend for people who are looking for effective peeling gels. For me, it does not do its job properly and you better save your P249 for something like what, St. Ives, I guess?

Avon Naturals Body Care Lightening Papaya and Soy Milk Hand and Body Lotion Review

Avon Naturals Body Care Lightening Papaya and Soy Milk Lotion
Bought for: P450/750 ml
Bought from: Zalora Philippines

Despite the hot and humid weather we have in the Philippines, I still make sure to slather moisturizer because it gets super dry after cleansing. I find the crinkled skin and taut feeling very disturbing which is why a hand and body lotion is something I could never ran out of. Last month, I got myself this lotion from Avon. I couldn't think of anything to buy from Zalora with the rebate coupon I had so I decided to buy this instead.

CLAIMS

New and improved Naturals Papaya now whitens in 7 days. It provides 30-hour moisturization and leaves skin deliciously soft and smooth. Get that healthy glow from Avon. This has papain extract that helps whiten skin for that healthy glow.

PACKAGING

It comes in a typical pump bottle and a very simple design. You have to twist the pump open on first use. Pump works and I have no issues dispensing the product at all. I also appreciate the fact that it is loaded with information such as claims, ingredients,  directions for use, and even manufacturing and expiry dates.

SCENT, CONSISTENCY AND EASE OF APPLICATION

The scent is very nice, sweet and has a citrus note. Okay, please don't judge me when I'm bad at describing scents. For me, it really is nice and not too strong. I don't think you'd find it off-putting either. It has a very light consistency and dries quickly. I've read that others find it a little greasy on the skin especially during hot days but I don't think that's true. The claim of 30-hours moisturization is a little exaggerated. I don't think it even moisturizes enough because my skin still feels dry that I always had to re-apply. It's not to the point that it's 'flaky' dry but I still would want something more moisturizing and thicker. It's very lightweight on the skin as if you didn't apply anything which could be okay especially to someone who has normal skin type. I think it all boils down to one's preference.

PERFORMANCE

It's an okay product to use on a daily basis. I mean it's comfortable to wear, doesn't turn greasy at the end of the day but you know by now that I prefer something thicker. If you are someone who's always outdoor, I would suggest you picking a body lotion that has high amount of SPF rather than this. This won't protect you from the harmful UV rays. It's probably great to use in the office or during night time to help your skin recuperate from stress because of its brightening effect. I like that it keeps my skin healthy and smooth and helps maintain my skin's natural color.

There are things I like and dislike about Avon Naturals Body Care Lightening Papaya and Soy Milk Hand and Body Lotion but I don't think I would repurchase anytime soon as I plan on buying lotions I haven't tried before. I also tend to look on the price tag when buying something and I know I've tried other body lotions that are far better and are more affordable.

Let me know what you think of this product by sharing with me your comments down below! Would love to chat with you! :)

Derma-C by Poten-Cee Vitamin + Collagen Brightening Soap Bar Review

Derma-C by Poten-Cee Vitamin + Collagen Brightening Soap Bar
Bought for: Free with points | SRP: P112/90g
Bought from: Sample Room

I am not really into lightening soaps because I find them too drying to the skin. I only resort to using them whenever my skin turns a tone darker from swimming or doing something outdoor. It's the only way for me to bring back my skin's natural color together with religious use of moisturizers. When I heard about Derma-C by Poten-Cee Vitamin + Collagen Brightening Soap Bar coming to Sample Room, I immediately carted it with my points and use it right away. The fact that it has both Vitamin C and Collagen intrigues me. I know that when taken orally, these two are really effective in bringing out the skin's natural glow. And I am yet to find out if external application would do something too.

CLAIMS

Derma-C Brightening Soap Bar contains Natural Vitamin C, Camu Camu Extract, and Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) that naturally whitens and brightens your skin. It is infused with 7 natural oils for an increased moisturizing effect: Sunflower Oil, Jojoba Oil, Sulfated Castor Oil, Avocado Oil, Olive Oil, Sweet Almond Oil and Grape Seed Oil. It has Collagen and Vitamin E that nourishes and moisturizes your skin, leaving it smooth and soft. Formulated by Korean skincare experts, Derma-C Brightening Soap is hypoallergenic and has been dermatologically tested for all types of skin.

PACKAGING

It comes in a cardboard box with detailed information about the product. Claims, ingredients, usage, manufacturing and expiry dates are printed. Once opened, there's still an eco-friendly pouch that houses the soap itselfvery hygienic and safe indeed.

PERFORMANCE

The soap comes in pale yellow color and is rounded in shape. It's also huge and bulky so I'm pretty sure it would lasts for quite long. It has a mild, fresh scent and lathers richly once applied. What I appreciate most is that unlike other soaps, it does not loses it's lather even though it's sunken in size and most of it are melted/used.

Every time I took it out to bath, I feel like my skin is well-cleansed but isn't dry and taut. Other brightening soaps strip off the skin's natural moisture while trying to exfoliate it. I didn't experience anything alike with Derma-C by Poten-Cee Vitamin + Collagen Brightening Soap Bar. Thanks to the 7 natural moisturizing oils it's made ofthey seem to work! My skin is softer and smoother after washing and indeed, with religious use, I notice my skin restoring a brighter and more supple complexion.

If you are looking for a soap that does not dry out the skin and is great for skin maintenance, this could be the answer to your woes. It will not lighten your skin significantly but I noticed my chickenpox scars (on my upper back and front torso) decreasing pigmentation while using these. I think it's working best with the use of  the Poten-cee Vitamin C + Collagen Supplement that has great dose of nutrients beneficial to the skin too.

A bar may sound crazy at P112 (when other lightening soaps are already on BOGO deal for that price), but it definitely will last you a long time. I had this for like a month before I finally ran out.

You can grab a sample by visiting Sample Room or grab it at any leading drugstores and supermarkets nationwide.

Purbasari Lulur Mandi Bengkoang Whitening Body Scrub Review

Purbasari Lulur Mandi Bengkoang Whitening Body Scrub
Bought for: P85/125g
Bought from: The SM Store

I am such an avid user of cream-based body scrubs. I make sure I never run out because commuting makes my skin rough, clogged and dirty all the time and body scrubs are effective in smoothing away all impurities and restoring bright and soft skin. Recently, Shopee gave out P200 worth of voucher for every P500 purchase made through The SM Store official shop so I shopped some goodies that I know I'll be using. Purbasari Lulur Mandi Bengkoang Whitening Body Scrub is one of those I carted.

CLAIMS

Step up your routine and incorporate this shower scrub once a week. It sloughs away dead skin cells to regenerate new ones, leaving your skin smooth, healthy and glowing. It contains Bengkoang as natural lightening. Bengkoang contain lots of water content, so it will provide benefits for consumption. Vitamin C in yam will make the skin healthier. May prevent premature aging and look brighter. Combination of yam bean extract and whitening extracts for a fairer and healthier skin.

PACKAGING

Scrub is housed in a plastic tub packaging and has all necessary information like claims, and ingredients as well as the expiration date which is printed on the bottom part. The packaging is very simple and this is what I expect from cream-based body scrubs as you can easily scoop up a generous amount to apply to the body. I hope it comes in a smaller packaging as it's not even full to the brim and yet it's bulky.

SCENT, TEXTURE AND CONSISTENCY

The product has a clean scent which isn't bothersome at all. It has a creamy texture to it and is infused with fine synthetic scrubs. I am trying to refrain myself from using synthetic scrubs as they pollute the water system and it makes me feel heartless for doing so but I guess every once in a while, I have to. I like that the scrubs are fine and non-scratchy but are abrasive enough to slough away dead skin cells and rough patches on the skin. It has a smooth consistency that blends easily when applied. One thing I noticed though is that you have to apply a generous amount on your body so you can exfoliate well which is why I think it's not as cost-efficient as when you opt for salt scrubs. One jar lasted me only about five uses which isn't bad at all considering that I only use it once a week.

PERFORMANCE

I like how this scrub is able to smoothen and brighten the skin in just one use. You don't have to use it often to satisfy yourself with the result. Every time I use this, my lotion gets absorbed more easily and my skin just feel like baby's butt. The addition of Bengkoang Extract (turnip) is a lovely touch because it's known for its whitening benefits but a few uses won't make a huge difference and we all know that. I didn't get a tone lighter by just consuming one tub but having radiant, healthy skin is already enough for me.

This scrub doesn't feel tightening nor drying, thanks for being cream-based. If you are looking for an affordable and effective body scrub to deep-clean the skin and get rid of scaly layers, I recommend you try this Purbasari Lulur Mandi Bengkoang Whitening Body Scrub. The cream's very consistent and the texture will pamper your skin even while you're just at home. Let me know what you think of this product by commenting down below! Happy blogging!
