Maxi-Peel Moisturizing Cream Review

The past few days were all about movies and series and today, I just finished watching How To Train Your Dragon 1-3. I'm not really into animation but I kind of enjoy watching them LOL. I think the dragons are rather cute than scary, most especially Toothless! Anyway, here's the continuation of Maxi-Peel review series I have thought of doing this quarantine season. Today, I'm going to share a quick review of Maxi-Peel Moisturizing Cream.

Again, this isn't the first time I tried this product. Maxi-Peel has been around for years and I don't think anyone who's beauty-obsessed will find Maxi-Peel an alien brand. I was in college the first time I've tried this and though that was years ago, I don't think they reformulated this cream. One thing for sure is, it has became much more cost-efficient since they made the product bigger with just the same price tag. With only P14, you get to last it for about a week or so.

CLAIMS

Maxi-Peel Moisturizing Cream is a non-greasy, quick absorbing cream that provides maximum moisture to keep skin soft, smooth and supple. It helps hide visible effects of exfoliation such as flakiness and dryness. Use nightly to provide skin hydration and moisture.

SCENT, CONSISTENCY AND EASE OF APPLICATION

This product has a subtle floral-like scent which I like. It's not offensive at all even for sensitive noses. The cream is white in color and despite the slightly thick formulation, it absorbs easily without any stickiness. It's soft and silky, almost silicon-y when applied. This is probably because of the presence of Dimethicone. It looks matte as well but skin feels highly moisturized underneath. I tried it with a foundation and so far, it did not roll and pill. My foundation looks okay too.

My only concern is that it makes my skin warm up faster and gets super oily after a few hours. Because of too much oil, my base makeup cakes and moves around. This is why I wouldn't want to use it as a moisturizer if I will be using makeup. On its own, it's a good product to use n a daily basis to moisturize the non-problematic skin.

PERFORMANCE

I have tried this product when my skin is peeling in the hope of hiding the dry patches and dead skins. However, not only this product stings so much, it also heightened the look of the peeling skin and I don't get it. I mean it was advised to use with the exfoliant solution but I don't find them to be a great duo. Again, I would think that you have to use it on its own when you're skin is done peeling and is already on the healing stage.

Despite all that, I appreciate Maxi-Peel Moisturizing Cream and I really like the texture of the cream and how it was formulated. I like how it glides well on the skin. Though it makes me oil up more, I could easily fix that with a mattifying powder. It's really hot and humid anyway. I might use this again on colder days.

I like how it get rids of dry and taut feeling so it's probably best for those with dry skin. The best thing is that it doesn't clog my pores or cause breakouts when I use it years back and even just recently. I just hope that it comes with a high-strength sun protection so it would be a nice alternative cheap moisturizer.

If you have sensitive skin, better do a patch test first. Please know that it has ingredients that may clog the pores or may cause adverse reactions. Watch out for the Cetyl Alcohol, Stearic Acid, Isopropyl Myristate, Citric Acid, Dimethicone, Triethanolamine, Mineral Oil and Fragrance. If you had any bad experience with the aforementioned ingredients, be more cautious and consult your dermatologist.

I've recently changed my skincare routine since I already emptied most of the products I've been using for the last couple of months. One of the product that's been with me last month and up until today (though almost running out) is this Natural Derma Project Cica Bio-Placenta Cream which is what we're going to talk about in this review.

CLAIMS

Natural Derma Project Cica Bio-Placenta Cream helps in skin rejuvenation and scar healing effects. It also boosts cell vitalization and strengthens the skin's immunity. With its potent ingredients, it can soothe skin troubles and redness and also increases skin's vitality. It also works to hydrate skin, ease skin troubles, acne and scars.

This also claims to the the perfect product if your concern is uneven skin because of scars and sensitive skin that often gets acne.

INGREDIENTS

This product has Bio-Placenta (main ingredient) that uses extracts from plants and their components are close to Human Placenta. It boosts skin cell growth to fight aging, improves skin elasticity and softens out scars and redness. Another active ingredient is the very famous Centella Asiatica Extract from Madagascar that heals scars, appeases scar marks and is known to be an anti-wrinkle ingredient. It is the main ingredient of Cica creams known for its excellent healing effect.

Another ingredient that is found in this cream is Bio-Water which is a special ingredient of Natural Derma Project, made to resemble body fluid and provides natural skin moisturization. It contains amino acid, protein, phospholipid, ceramide, oleic acid, acetyl glutamin and other skin-friendly components.

DIRECTIONS, INGREDIENTS, CAUTIONS

PACKAGING

The product is well-packed, comes with a cardboard box that's loaded with information about the product. Inside is a jar with a silver cap. It looks very simple but also sits very nicely on the vanity area. It comes with a plastic inner seal  and a spatula for sanitary purposes. I appreciate this because I don't need to dip my fingers over and over and I don't have to worry about it being contaminated. Just to be sure though, make sure you use clean fingers.

SCENT, TEXTURE AND EASE OF APPLICATION

It has a subtle herbal scent that I don't find off-putting at all. The cream looks shiny and watery from the inside so I kind of expected that it will be suitable for oily skin. At first glance, it reminds me of Belif The True Cream Aqua Bomb because of the watery texture though the latter is only ever so slightly tinted. Both are formulated to be thin, almost gel-like in consistency. Also, both are almost on the same price point.

You'll know the difference in consistency upon application. The NDP has a thinner consistency but leaves a shinier, more moisturized layer. If you have drier skin, you'll find this product more suitable for you. I have oily skin so despite the gel cream texture, I find it a little heavy and warming, hence, more oil and sweat during the day.

PERFORMANCE

This is definitely a hydrating cream and the combination of Bio-Placenta, Centella Asiatica Extract and Bio-Water are effective to soothe and moisturize the skin to prevent early signs of aging. I'm sure you know that the more hydrated you are, the more it would take for your skin to age. I like that this cream does its job in repairing the skin as I see the improvement after just two weeks of use. My blemishes and pimple scars are lightened, redness subsided and I would also credit it to other products I use this cream with. The good thing is that this product complements my skincare and doesn't trigger any allergic reactions. Also, I noticed that whenever I use this, my pimples are healed faster and they dry up easier.

After more than a month of use, my skin has really softened and brightened so if you are really looking for a maintenance cream that boosts skin rejuvenation and repair troubles, you might want to give this a try. I'm still contemplating whether or not to repurchase because of the price point that I couldn't justify. This product is not that miraculous for me to splurge almost P2000 for a single tub. And there are other creams that are as effective and can be availed at a fraction of this product's price. If you have the budget though, go and have fun!

Finally! I know Charis will come up with their very own product but I did not expect it to be this soon. I'm sure I'm not the only one who kept on guessing what their first product would be but I was so happy that it's a multi-functional cream. I haven't tried a lot of Cica Creams before, in fact I think I only had one apart from this and that was the very popular Centellian 24 Madeca Derma Cream which was a so-so. When I received these in the mail, I eventually tried it and now that I think I had enough time of road-testing, I'm going to share with you how it works for me. CLAIMS

Charis M+ Madecassoside Cica Cream claims to be a multi high tech solution for sensitized skin and works to clarify, lift, relax and moisten the skin. It contains Madecassoside and Centella Asiatica Leaf Extract providing delicate hydration and moisturization effects to the sensitive skin damaged from external stimulation. 

INGREDIENTS

There are tons of ingredients found in this product and mostly are extracts from plants and herbs. About 58% are composed of Tiger Leaf Extract or also known as Centella Asiatica so if you don't have any problems with that, this may be safe for you. I haven't had any problems with this ingredient before so I'm not very cautious when I tried this. It's claimed as a cream for all skin types but better be safe. If you are sensitive to any extracts listed down below, I highly suggest to do a patch test first as we never know the exact concentration and how your skin will react towards it.

PACKAGING

I was given both the 30 and the 50 ml tubes but they are housed in the same packaging. It comes with a teal and white cardboard box that has all the information you will ever need about the product including the claims, directions for use, ingredient and expiry date (one year after opening).

The product itself is contained in an aluminum tube that looks very clinical and hygienic. I imagine putting on some ointment as I use it. It's lightweight and travel-friendly though just like what you expect, it's kinda hard to scrape the very last drops. I cut my skin about twice while I was trying to do that. It's nothing serious though.

The mouth is sealed with an aluminum upon purchase for sanitary purposes and I like that it's easy to control the amount to use. I would appreciate if it comes with a pointed nozzle though.

APPLICATION

I use this product twice every day. First thing in the morning after toner and before sunscreen and at the last step of my night time skincare. I only use half a pea-sized amount since a little goes a long way. I make sure to apply more on the drier areas such as around the eyes and neck. It's also a great soothing cream to apply anywhere your body after you wax or do either chemical or physical exfoliation to calm redness and irritation.

SCENT, TEXTURE AND EASE OF APPLICATION

The cream has a little bit of an herbal scent, almost to the point that it's indistinguishable. The product has an opaque white color and has a very rich and creamy texture. It has a consistent formulation and true enough, it gets absorbed by the skin easily without any stickiness. The good thing about it is that you can layer it with makeups though your base might move around and cake on the latter part of the day. This cream warms my skin and my face is oilier during midday whenever I have this on. And when there's oil, you know what happens to your base. You will also wake up with a face looking like a grease ball. It must be the summer but I think this cream is the culprit as I'm not as oily when it's just my regular toner and cream.

PERFORMANCE

Despite the fact that it makes my skin so oily, it doesn't clog my pores or causes breakouts. Because of the rich texture, it's able to soften the skin, lessen redness overtime and make it look healthier and plumper. It's best to use during night time when your skin is healing and you'll wake up with smoother and clearer skin. Since it's formulated to be highly moisturizing, this will be more suitable for those with dry skin and as a cream to moisturize the areas where frequent loss of moisture occur--eyes and neck. Remember what beauty gurus say, the more your skin is moisturized, the longer it will take to age. Do keep that in mind.

Another thing I'd like to point out is that it works as a hand and foot cream too! It's able to soften calluses on the soles and palms and moisture stays longer. It might be on the steeper side of skin care but do take note that a little goes a long way so it's still worth the repurchase.

In my last January Althea Korea Haul, I got myself a moisturizer that's been loved by so many. I was contemplating whether or not I should buy one considering the price point is no joke. It only has 50 ml of product so I was thinking that the amount and price point ratio is ridiculous. I, then, caved in because of an Althea coupon code and credits available so I was able to snag it at a discounted price. I had to check other websites prior to purchasing and because of the perks, I was able to get it cheapest in Althea. I tried it immediately and now I'm ready to give my final thoughts about it. A cult favorite of those in the Korean beauty scene, Belif's The True Cream - Aqua Bomb is a super lightweight oil-free cream-gel that 'bursts' and refreshes the skin while providing it with rich hydration. Formulated with lady's mantle that's rich in antioxidants, this moisturizer helps to neutralize skin-damaging free radicals while improving skin's elasticity and minimizing pores. This weightless formula absorbs into the skin quickly and completely, keeping your skin soft and supple without leaving behind any sticky residue. The best part about this? It's formulated without any mineral oils, synthetic fragrances, dyes, preservatives or animal origin ingredients, making this suitable even for those of us with sensitive skins.

Product comes in a jar type of packaging. It's accompanied with a cardboard box that has information about the product. Jar is opaque white, has a sleek black cap and an inner seal for protection. It's kind of bulky so I don't think it's best for travel unless you can decant a few amount on a empty jar. I like that it's sturdy though that you can still reuse even after you consume everything.  I also expect it would at least come with a spatula so I don't have to dip my finger in and out for each application. Unfortunately, that seems to be the case.

Expiration date is printed on the bottom of the jar. It has a long shelf life. I could have stock it up but you just can't help it when it's cult-fave (haha!).

SCENT, TEXTURE AND EASE OF APPLICATION

The cream has a mild, clean scent so I don't think anyone would find it off-putting. The name 'Aqua Bomb' is not given for nothing for it's aqua blue in color. It has a gel cream consistency and has a soft, lightweight texture. It's definitely aesthetically pleasing to the eyes and it's as if it's inviting me to grab some. :D

I really like the fact that it is indeed very lightweight, it dries quickly without any sticky residue though it provides warmth and hydration to the skin very instantly. It's luxuriously blendable and makes a good makeup base as foundation blends a lot easier on the skin.

PERFORMANCE

I appreciate the fact that it's loaded with tons of herbs and extracts and is mineral oils, synthetic fragrances, dyes, preservatives or animal origin ingredients- free. One notable ingredient I wasn't familiar with until this happened is the Lady's Mantle Extract which according to Althea, is a special herb that's packed with antioxidants to protect the skin from free radicals and minimize pores. It also has Plantoin which creates a moisture barrier to prevent dehydration and Oat Husk Extract that calms irritation and hydrates the skin. All of which are true except for the fact that it does nothing significant in terms of tightening or minimizing my pores. I don't think anything can minimize my pores permanently but what I know is that it makes them more refined and it balances my oil secretion.

This cream definitely boosts skin hydration and is very mild and calming so I think anyone can enjoy it's skin benefits whether you have oily, dry or sensitive skin types. I did not breakout after using it for a month and using it in conjunction with Laneige Clear C Advance Effector Ex helps me fight hormonal breakouts and scarring. My skin looks more supple and healthier with religious use.

Anyway, let’s start with today’s skincare review about 9 Wishes Vanishing Balm Ultimate Tone-up Cream I got from Stylekorean.com!

CLAIMS

This advance multitasking complexion enhancer brightens skin tone instantly while minimizing the appearance of fine lines and pores. An antioxidant rich formula provides exceptional hydration, leaving skin smooth and healthy all day long.

APPLICATION

I usually apply the cream every morning as my last step in skincare. A single pump is enough for the whole face and neck area.

PACKAGING

The product comes with a white box and the information are printed in gray/silver fonts. The tone-up cream comes in an opaque white tube with a transparent cap and a silver pump for easy dispensing of product. Overall, I love the simple yet clean-looking and very informative packaging. It displays all necessary information about the product such as ingredients, direction for use, claims and expiry date—all in crisp font style.

TEXTURE, CONSISTENCY AND EASE OF APPLICATION

Milky white in color and light in texture, this cream blends so easily on the skin without any dreaded white casts other tone-up creams impart. A little goes a long way and I also like the fact that it doesn’t cling to dry patches of the face and doesn’t look streaky at all. Despite the semi-matte finish (when used alone), it gives thorough hydration without any stickiness or discomfort. It’s a day cream that you can opt to wear alone or top off with makeup without contributing to cakiness or patchiness.

OVERALL PERFORMANCE

I would say that this is also a favorite of mine from 9Wishes. I’ve tried a few products from this independent brand (thanks to Style Korean) and all of which are highly recommended by me. This is one underrated product that I truly love and been continuously using for the past weeks. I like how it tones down redness and brightens my complexion without looking pale or ghostly. I’ve always been looking for a tone-up cream that won’t look awkward on skin with yellow undertone and the quest has finally ended. 

Despite the loads of oils and extracts mentioned above, I’m glad it didn’t irritate my skin nor break me out. I also noticed that it has Titanium Dioxide which has been used for sunblocks so despite being discreet, I’m glad to know that it’s adding up to my daily sun protection. I just hope 9Wishes could tell how strong the sun protection is. It also has Glutathione (in small concentration though) so this is great for those who would like to maintain light skin.

Using it in conjunction with other skincare products, I noticed some blemishes have lightened a bit so I know further use can make a huge difference. Long story short, I’ve found a brightening cream that suits someone like me who has oily skin and has scars to lighten.
