A Must-Have For Brush Cleaning: Sigma Beauty Spa Brush Cleaning Mat in Deluxe Size

Deluxe Size Sigma Beauty Spa Brush Cleaning Mat
Bought from: Sigma Beauty
Price in full-size: $32

I received my haul from Sigma Beauty the first week of June and it was my second time carting and buying from the said brand. I was kinda intrigued with Sigma's Mystery Haul and expect that it would include this mat which I have been eyeing for the longest time. I have been planning on buying brush pads and wish granted because true enough, I got a brush care stuff in the haul. The deluxe size is perfectly fine for me because I clean my brushes frequently so they don't clutter. What's important to me is that I clean my brushes thoroughly while saving on effort and cleaning time.

The cleaning mat comes in a magenta shade, ain't that cute? It's also designed in a way that would make it more even convenient to use. It has a suction at the back that makes the mat adhere to wherever surface you attached it on so you don't have to hold onto it and keep it in place when you are washing your brushes. The deluxe size is very useful for me already but if you are washing a lot of brushes and would like to multi-task, you might want to purchase the larger size with more spaces to rub your face brushes on.

You can tell that there are designated parts where you're supposed to wash, refine and rinse your brushes but I don't pay much attention to it. The areas are small enough and won't give me too much space to wash a single brush on. I just swirl my brushes all over whether I'm washing, refining and rinsing them off. Though the mat is tiny, it's about the size of my palm that makes it more handy and  also travel-friendly. I know no one had ever had enough time to squeeze in brush cleaning during getaways but just in case you're up for a change, this may come handy!

I really love this Deluxe Size Sigma Beauty Spa Brush Cleaning Mat! It makes cleaning so easily because the moment I swirl my brush on its textured surface, all the pigments and stains just come off easily. With this, I don't have to tug or glide my fingers all the way up to where foundation might get stuck because this can lead to my brushes losing its shape or even shedding. I'm glad I have this and also am planning to buy the larger size!

ProX By Olay Regenerish Advanced Cleansing System At 50% Off

I've been searching for ProX By Olay Advanced Cleansing System ever since I heard that this is a great dupe for the well-raved but expensive Clarisonic. So when Shopee went on sale just this midnight, I did a quick skim through Olay products because all featured products are 52% off. I did not expect that this product will be there too because it's a pain to find. I looked for it everywhere ever since I heard about this great cleansing brush but to no avail. It seems to be just recently when retailers of Olay here in the Philippines seem to stock enough quantities for searchers like me.

Use the code PGBEAUTY if you are to purchase through Shopee to get an additional P200 off. You only need to pay P95 for the shipping fee. Not bad! And just about a few minutes ago, I found out it's also on sale in Lazada for just P850! I still scored a fairer deal when I bought mine through Shopee. Do take not that P&G products like Safeguard, Pantene, Palmolive and Olay are on sale too!

Splurge Because It's Summer Sale Everywhere!

I abhor myself right now for over-spending for the last few months because I didn't even think of saving up for this season. Almost every brands I love seem to literally give away most of what they are selling because it's mid-year/summer sale season. I'm thinking it's not too late yet to share the good news though because some of our favorite sites are giving us a bunch of discounted goodies! Now, be prepared to bid good byes to your hard-earned bucks!

Sigma Beauty

I just recently shop a brush set, a kabuki brush, a nude lipstick and a mascara set. My friend even asked if she could consolidate our orders! In the end, we saved some bucks for international shipping! And I get to use my Pink Perks at last!

Beautymnl

I am thinking of getting some Esfolio and Hello Gorgeous stuff which are currently on sale. There were thousands of skincare and makeup products to choose from and it is so overwhelming! You don't want to miss Beautymnl's mid-year and flash sales!

It Cosmetics

Sephora PH

Clinique

Zalora PH

Sale is really everywhere! Fashion and Makeup Brands like Victoria's Secret, BH Cosmetics, Coastal Scents as also having a huge sale! What else is the best season to stock up aside from Black Friday and Christmas!?

A Blemish Cream That Did Not Work For Me: Cosrx Centella Blemish Cream

Cosrx Centella Blemish Cream, 30 ml
Bought for: P650
Bought from: an online shop

I learned about CosRx because of all the rave reviews and comments on how life-changing their products are. I've honestly liked a few from their massive skin care line like like the but this one isn't just for me. I know I gave it a fair try because the moment I saw something's going wrong, I still used it religiously. There was a point when I felt I gotta stop because my skin looked awful and eventually gave it another try after a couple of weeks right after my skin calmed down. To my dismay, my skin got worse  again. I used it in conjunction with a few skincare stuff I trust (Laneige Special Care Water Sleeping Mask and Cetaphil Oily Skin Cleanser) so I am pretty accurate if I say where I've gone wrong. It was at that point when I knew that I'm gonna have to get rid of this.

Packaging

Just like most Cosrx products, packaging is very minimalist but you get all the information you will ever need like the directions, ingredients, caution, claims and expiry dates. I'm sure that being in a tiny jar type of packaging, it could scare away OC people. I appreciate that it comes with a tiny spatula though so I can avoid using my fingers for application. However, since you need to open the entire tub whenever you use it, the wide brim could still serve as a pathway for bacteria making the spatula useless after all.

The ingredient list is very promising. It has a lot of natural ingredients that are known to battle acne and blemishes. The product could even soothe and calm the skin with the gentlest ingredients you can even think of. I wasn't expecting a lot from it though because it has Tea Tree Oil which my skin didn't like at all. When use in slightly large dosages, instead of calming my skin, it would even cause flare ups. As you can tell, Tea Tree is just a tiny percentage given its almost at the bottom part of the list but using it in conjunction with other Cosrx products infused with Tea Tree as well might be the reason why it fails to do what it's supposed to my skin.

Texture, Consistency and Ease of Application

The cream has sort of like a whipped texture, bouncy and creamy to the touch. I like that its very lightweight and gets absorb by the skin easily. A tiny jar with 30ml of product inside might be impractical for a 600-peso product (or more) but once you get to try it, you'll figure out its worth it. A little of the cream goes a long way. It's even advised to be used as a spot treatment so you don't have to apply it all over your face. I have tried this product for more than a month and I barely made the cream down to three-fourth of the tub.

The creams feels luxurious. If there's such a thing like you're feeling the luxury you paid for a cream, you get that sensation while applying it. It felt so soft and hydrating and the skin will absorb the cream very easily without any greasiness. It just felt so comfortable given that I have oily skin.

This product has a faint scent to it. I can't really describe thoroughly but it has that trademark scent of most Cosrx products, Tea Tree, but it reminds me more of a soda-ish scent.

Now for the verdict, I don't think I'll ever repurchase this cream ever again. It basically claims to be a highly concentrated spot cream that helps lighten post-blemish marks, treating sensitive stressed-out skin. For one thing, it didn't drastically made an improvement on the appearance of my existing and new blemishes. They are still as obvious as ever, probably because I haven't given this cream enough time to lighten them. I could have, believe me. What made me decide to stop was the fact that it causes surface bumps and whiteheads to appear in cluster wherever I apply this treatment. They weren't pus-filled or bigger than usual but breakouts will always be breakouts. Instead of waiting for my blemishes to lighten and eventually become out of sight, don't you think it's crazy to tolerate this cream to create more future blemishes? I wouldn't wait for that to happen.

Just to be fair, a lot of beauty enthusiasts are raving about this product. All of the products I have tried from Cosrx are surely gentle. They don't sting or dry out my skin which is great. I just don't like that most of them has Tea Tree because ever since, most Tea Tree-infused products worsen my skin. I can only count in one hand how many of those with Tea Tree works for me. I haven't found a single product with this particular ingredient that does its job in eliminating breakouts and blemishes completely right up to this date. Maybe Tea Tree is just too strong of an oil for my skin.

Have you tried this Cosrx Centella Blemish Cream? Any thoughts? Did you make it work? Share your thoughts down below!

Changing My Blender To The Original Beauty Blender Pro and Pure

The Original Beauty Blender
Bought for: P769 | SRP: $20
Bought from: an online shop

I just noticed my feed is full of makeup tools and applications--from brushes to sponge--and for the hundredth time, let me tell you I couldn't stop myself going crazy about them. A few months ago, I purchase two Beauty Blenders in Pro (Black) and Pure (White) and though I am only using them a few times, I couldn't help admiring how they blend foundation so easily.

BeautyBlenders are here since long but I just decided to purchase mine the start of 2018 and am currently using them alternately with my buffing brushes. $20 is just too pricey for a single egg-shaped makeup sponge so I really wasn't so into it when it started dominating the social media. Until, of course, I discovered Shopee where I can get authentic stuff for a discounted price.

I'm going to cut to the chase but the reason why I chose to switch to Beauty Blenders is because they are just innovative. These are latex-free so you don't get the hard, rubbery texture other sponges has. Beauty Blenders are just so fluffy and soft and does not seem to punch you on the face other sponges would. It will become even softer and bigger (at least double its size) when you damp it with water because it "...features an open cell structure that fills with small amounts of water when wet." The idea behind it was just clever. BeautyBlender claims that when its filled, ideally, there's not enough room for foundation so almost everything else will get to the skin rather than to the pores of the sponge.

Here's my take on this. Beauty Blenders are made of soft materials than even when filled with water, it still absorbs makeup a great deal. This isn't a big deal for me though because it really takes me a lot of time to consume my foundations especially now I have a few to choose and use on a daily basis. If you are just using a single foundation, either you pay for $20 dollars for a flawless, streak-free and air-brush finish or choose to save a few bucks and avoid constant buying of foundations. You choose. Well, I guess I'd rather pay for convenience and quality. ;)

Beauty Blenders now come in lots of colors and sizes--each has its own purposes. For example, this one in Pro (Black) is intended for darker pigments which is very practical to use than light-colored sponges for stains are hard to remove. I got another one in Pure (White) and that is intended for skincare purposes, say for primers or moisturizers. Make sense because I rather not use the Pure one for foundation if I couldn't spend time washing it spot-free.

Overall, BeautyBlenders are just good investments. It will blend your makeup like a dream. I had mine for about, what, a half a year and it's still in a good shape--no tears or foul smell. I know it's hygienic to replace sponges every three months but I couldn't just get rid of it yet. I just make sure to clean it thoroughly and soak it in hot water for a few seconds before letting it air-dry to prevent bacteria buildup. I would definitely buy the original one in hot pink and nude to add up to my collection!

Current Favorite Brush: Real Techniques Expert Face Brush

Real Techniques Expert Face Brush
Bought for: P400 | SRP: $9 (P529.77 online)
From: an online shop

Claims
Our #1 best-selling brush. Our expert face brush is ultra firm and broad for perfectly buffed foundation and an airbrushed finish. The buff you need to experience. Ideal for cream and liquid foundations.

I find myself splurging for makeup brushes nowadays and I just can't help falling in love with them. My favorites from Sigma Beauty and Zoeva are really awesome yet sometimes I find them too intimidating to use and I'm afraid I'd break them anytime soon before I take full advantage of their features. It's really nice to know there's this Real Techniques  brushes whose price and quality are just  practically unbeatable. My favorite among every single Real Techniques brushes is this Expert Face Brush which I use almost every day. I don't have to tell you how awesome this brush is for sure because a lot of bloggers and vloggers rave about it even way, way back. I hesitated sharing my thoughts about it because...what else could it be for, right? But since this is a really useful brush for me, I think it deserves a spot!

Packaging

When I bought this, it comes in a plastic box with necessary information about the product. The overall design of the brush, like any other RT brushes, is seriously unique and ergonomic. Just who ever think of designing brushes (other than Sam and Nic)  with a sleek, curve ferrule and a flat bottom so it could stand on its own? The bold bright colors are perfect addition to my boring chrome-colored brushes too. One thing I find off about it though is the rubber handle at the bottom. Dust and dirt easily adheres to it so proper storage is a must. Also, the labels can be easily rub off.

Talking about the bristles, the white and black strands are so dense and soft. The bristles are just as smooth as high-end ones and there are no foul odors. I couldn't remember any time my skin got pricked by this brush. Touching it would give you the impression that it's indeed made of high quality materials and are carefully packed together to avoid too much shedding. In fact, it only shed one strand the first time I wash it clean. Also, it keeps it shape no matter how many times you use and wash it.

The brush is so dense that it blends any type of foundation like a dream. The size and density of the bristles are enough to blend makeup flawlessly and easily. It requires very minimal effort and skills in blending and it produces zero streaks on me! It does soak up a bit more foundation than the usual but it's easy to clean nevertheless. Given the quality and performance of this brush, I couldn't replace it with anything else. Sure, Zoeva and Sigma brushes have really good blending and buffing brushes but nothing would ever replace Expert Face Brush for me.

Other than blending my foundation, I also use this brush to cream contour or apply cream blush and it does the job fairly well. If you are looking for an affordable, high-quality buffing brush, look no further.

June 2018 Makeup Brush Collection

This post does not intend to brag, but rather to share with you guys my growing brush collection and how inspired I am to put makeup on every now and then with their help! If you have been following me for quite a while, you should know how obsessed I have become with makeup brushes. I just started collecting this year and I've had quite a few pieces from trusted brands. These may not be as much as what other bloggers/vloggers own, but I'm already happy with what I've collected so far! All of these are self-bought and it's something I'm quite proud of. I've probably had disciplined myself well enough to save and work hard for what I want.

This is something I would want to impart to everyone. I guess blogging is not about getting free stuff from brands--well, at least not what it's all about, inspiring through writing is and giving your most reliable opinions without sugar-coating anything. Which is why most of the items I blog, probably 90% of it sprouted from my hard-earned money. Don't get me wrong, I love the generous brands who chose to collaborate with me and I'm forever grateful. I love getting free stuff because that means...more to write and talk about! You see, there's more to it and that is being a part of someone else's family. I don't know where my thoughts are heading to so without further ado, here are my June 2018 Brush Collection!

Real Techniques

I had a few brush sets I bought like the Core Collection, Travel Essentials and Eyes Starter Kit mainly to add color to my collection. But I eventually I learned to love them because each piece are made of high quality materials and are non-shedding. My favorites are the powder, buffing, multipurpose and deluxe crease brushes. For singles, I love the expert face brush and the miracle complexion sponge!

Zoeva Brushes

I love almost all Zoeva brushes I've got. Well, to be honest, I only keep the ones I really like so all the brushes I got here really work for me and make the job well-done. So if I don't keep something, it means that they are probably, you know, meh. My favorite from this set though are the buffer, luxe sheer cheek, concealer buffer, brow line, luxe petit crease and eye blenders.

Sigma Brushes

In terms of quality, Sigma and Zoeva are almost the same. Their brushes aren't flimsy and even the handles are sleek and sturdy. Each possesses weight to it. Just like Zoeva, Sigma Beauty brushes are really amazing. The powder brushes and blending brushes are top-notch! All of them are soft and dense and you know that they are just high-quality.

Coastal Scents

I have a lot of single brushes from Coastal Scents before but I sold the face brushes away because I didn't like them very much. I only left the buffing brush (the biggest) because I like how it blends liquid foundation. I find CS bristles soft though could be pricky and isn't as soft and dense as my other brushes. I mostly left the blending and liner brushes with me because...well, the more blending brushes, the better!

Here's a single brush from MAC and a Melosion Mushroom brush both great for blending liquid foundations! The mushroom brush is so cheap (retails less than P100) but of great quality--super soft and dense!

Hope you enjoy and like my small brush collection! I am thinking of writing thorough reviews about each brand on the upcoming days so if you would want that, let me know! I am planning to add some more from IT Cosmetics, Spectrum, Natasha Denona, Luxie Beauty and Marc Jacobs. Gotta save up more! Care to share your collection too? Would love to talk about anything beauty down below!

Everyday Love Nude Lips Collection Review and Swatches

Everyday Love Nude Lips in #6 and #7
Price: P199 each
From: Everyday Love PH

I love local beauty brands because they remind me of how I started blogging and keep on doing what I am doing today. The very first brands whom I worked with were local brands and I owe them a lot for trusting me their products. It also amazes me how the beauty world seems to dominate social media and local brands that produces world-class products are rapidly growing. I also dream of having my own brand someday and while that still remains in construction, I will just keep on believing in the talent and tastes of Filipinas.

Today, what I will be reviewing are these nude liquid lipsticks Everyday Love PH sent me. I just love what the brand is all about--they are very particular with what they are selling and you wouldn't get confused because they are all about nudes. Their Nude Lips Collection has all the shades of nudes you can ever think of. If you love muted, MLBB shades, which I do, you'll definitely find your heaven in Everyday Love!

Claims
The Nude Matte Liquid Lipstick has a rich formula packed with waxes and oils, giving you a creamy, matte finish. It provides high pigment with an easy air-like sensation during application without drying or flaking - comfortable for an all day wear. Cruelty-free. Lead-Free. Paraben-free. Waterproof. Smudge-proof.

Shade

The Nude Lips Collection comes in 7 shades. Currently Everyday Love produces shades that are bolder with more touches of pinks and reds but are still muted. Indeed, very trendy and sophisticated.

I was sent two shades to review: No. 6 Nude Lips (a pinkish mauve) and No.7 Nude Lips (a muted rose color). I hardly can distinguish the difference in color when I don't focus or try to place them side by side because they are almost identical in every way. No.6 Nude Lips is slightly darker and warmer when swatched and is more like brownish nude. This is my idea of an awesome MLBB nude shade that won't wash out your makeup. I like that it's muted but still has a pop of color. No. 7 Nude Lips remind me of hot milk chocolate drinks which I enjoy every freakin morning more than I do with caffeine. It also looks like my favorite melted chocolate ice candies. Reminiscing about childhood days--oh how lovely! No. 7 Nude Lips is something that would look better for those who have fair skin tone.

Packaging

I haven't used a lot of liquid lipsticks from the past but I always see them in pictures. The packaging didn't give me the first impression that these are waaaaaaaaaaay so affordable. I mean I like that clear and sturdy transparent tube and the fonts that Everyday Love used. It also comes with a small doe-foot applicator which I didn't have problems on. The only issue I have was that the inner protection isn't tight enough that products could leak out up to the brim even when left unused. I don't mean to say it in general 'cause maybe I just got a bad one.

Texture, Scent and Ease of Application

These has  a soft, creamy and slightly thinner consistency that most liquid lipsticks I have tried.  It blends easily on my lips, give a decent pop of color in single swipe with the use of the applicator. It would also leave a yummy chocolate-y scent which eventually fades after some time. These lippies takes some time to fully get absorbed and smearing some lip balms under won't help either. It might be a good thing for some who have the luxury of time because you are allowed to blend it even better. You can put additional layers on top of it without having to worry that it may look to patchy. After a few minutes, everything would set and look completely matte. I have to be honest that even when dried, my lips tend to feel tacky the slightest bit (lips stick together). Nevertheless, they are so comfortable to wear. There's irony because it looks matte but does not feel matte. This may be a good selling point though because these aren't as drying as I expect it would be like most liquid lipsticks.

Longevity

It's definitely kiss-proof though I didn't test it that way. You wish! Had to settle for whatever resources I could get like the back of my hands lol. I did try smooching my lips over a smooth paper and tissue and it does smear the tiniest bit. When I tried running some water on my swatches, they didn't move at all. It did though when I rub the color off. If you are eating heavy meals, that would take the life of these lippies out of your lips but some quick sips of water won't. I don't make a big fuss out of it because after all, I would not want to murder my lips with a lot of makeup removers.

On the picture above, I didn't use any soap or cleansing oil at all--just pure tap water. Without any heavy meals, the shades could last for about 5 hours max considering you don't lick your lips often. Don't do that either because your saliva could suck out the moisture out of your puckers!

For a local product that's only P199 (currently sale at P150 a piece), these are good investments to complete your nude collections. What's even better is that these are cruelty-free, lead-free, paraben-free and is proud to be locally-made! Have you got to take a look at the ingredients list? Quite a few to judge! We all know that there's a lot of brands offering different products to us (there's even dupe to add to your options) and sometimes what makes them stand out is what their products are really made of. Being an advocate for safe makeup, I think Everyday Love is a brand to watch out for.

Best Drugstore Mascara: Loreal Voluminous Lash Paradise Waterproof Mascara

Loreal Voluminous Lash Paradise Waterproof Mascara
Bought for: P500 from an online shop

I love mascara so much. Much more if they can withstand my oily lids and don't wear off quite fast. I have tried a lot of drugstore mascaras (the only ones I can afford lol) and most of them made me look like I've cried hard enough that my mascara got washed away down to my waterline and bags. It's uncomfortable to rub my eyes when I had mascara on so I'm pretty sure that isn't exactly the reason why mascaras smear on me. I'm 100% sure my oily lids are the culprit. But it's not like my lids could adjust, right? Technically, it's just finding the right makeups to complement your skin type. I'm glad I tried this latest from Loreal: Loreal Voluminous Lash Paradise Waterproof Mascara. You might not read this whole blog anymore because by now, you might've figured out that this is a great product for me. Though I suggest you keep on reading still because I have to point out a few things you wouldn't want to miss about it.

The last Loreal product I was obsessed with (until now) was the 24H Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation and this is my next holy grail. The mascara reminds me of the famous Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara in terms of that sleek blush pink packaging although given the price point, I would still say the Loreal's much better. I could get 2 of this and would still be able to save a few bucks.

I know you are very familiar with drugstore mascaras, mostly the ones from Maybelline and Loreal because most of the time, they come in washable and waterproof forms and even comes in different shades of black and brown. I got the waterproof formula and in 204 Blackest Black because I love long-wearing, bold and voluminous lashes. I just wish I can get the washable formula too on days when I don't feel like dealing with tough to remove makeups haha!

The wand is long enough to pick up product from the bottom so you can ensure there aren't any waste. I don't know why if maybe because this is a new product, but the formula inside are still more liquidy (but not runny) than other mascaras I have bought before. You can tell because the formula is still shiny black and is easier to apply. The short and well-distributed bristles surely help to avoid clumping and having those spider web-like lashes.

One coat is enough to get bold yet natural-looking lashes. Unlike other mascaras that would only dry after a heck lot of minutes, this mascara dries just almost as instant without any weird mascara scent.

This product isn't exactly waterproof as it claims. Sure, it's really hard to remove on the lashes even with eye makeup removers so it must be really a long-wearing product. It also doesn't get completely washed off when I do a quick dip in the pool but it tends to smear. That doesn't make it waterproof. Although I have to commend its longevity because even when I sweat and my lids oil up, the mascara pretty much hold the curl firmly and does not weigh it down. It doesn't smear too on dry surface and that's what all that matters especially it's a pain to find makeups that would put up with my oily skin.

The wand of this mascara almost look like BTSM's though the latter is more curvy. I like that it's long though because it reaches even the tiniest of hair on my lashes. I'm just so glad this product exists! If you want to achieve voluminous lashes without spending a fortune, this should be your go-to. Although this won't replace the length and volume of falsies, it's a perfect mascara for every day use.
