Loreal Voluminous Lash Paradise Waterproof Mascara

I love mascara so much. Much more if they can withstand my oily lids and don't wear off quite fast. I have tried a lot of drugstore mascaras (the only ones I can afford lol) and most of them made me look like I've cried hard enough that my mascara got washed away down to my waterline and bags. It's uncomfortable to rub my eyes when I had mascara on so I'm pretty sure that isn't exactly the reason why mascaras smear on me. I'm 100% sure my oily lids are the culprit. But it's not like my lids could adjust, right? Technically, it's just finding the right makeups to complement your skin type. I'm glad I tried this latest from Loreal: Loreal Voluminous Lash Paradise Waterproof Mascara. You might not read this whole blog anymore because by now, you might've figured out that this is a great product for me. Though I suggest you keep on reading still because I have to point out a few things you wouldn't want to miss about it.

The last Loreal product I was obsessed with (until now) was the 24H Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation and this is my next holy grail. The mascara reminds me of the famous Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara in terms of that sleek blush pink packaging although given the price point, I would still say the Loreal's much better. I could get 2 of this and would still be able to save a few bucks.

I know you are very familiar with drugstore mascaras, mostly the ones from Maybelline and Loreal because most of the time, they come in washable and waterproof forms and even comes in different shades of black and brown. I got the waterproof formula and in 204 Blackest Black because I love long-wearing, bold and voluminous lashes. I just wish I can get the washable formula too on days when I don't feel like dealing with tough to remove makeups haha!

The wand is long enough to pick up product from the bottom so you can ensure there aren't any waste. I don't know why if maybe because this is a new product, but the formula inside are still more liquidy (but not runny) than other mascaras I have bought before. You can tell because the formula is still shiny black and is easier to apply. The short and well-distributed bristles surely help to avoid clumping and having those spider web-like lashes.

One coat is enough to get bold yet natural-looking lashes. Unlike other mascaras that would only dry after a heck lot of minutes, this mascara dries just almost as instant without any weird mascara scent.

This product isn't exactly waterproof as it claims. Sure, it's really hard to remove on the lashes even with eye makeup removers so it must be really a long-wearing product. It also doesn't get completely washed off when I do a quick dip in the pool but it tends to smear. That doesn't make it waterproof. Although I have to commend its longevity because even when I sweat and my lids oil up, the mascara pretty much hold the curl firmly and does not weigh it down. It doesn't smear too on dry surface and that's what all that matters especially it's a pain to find makeups that would put up with my oily skin.

The wand of this mascara almost look like BTSM's though the latter is more curvy. I like that it's long though because it reaches even the tiniest of hair on my lashes. I'm just so glad this product exists! If you want to achieve voluminous lashes without spending a fortune, this should be your go-to. Although this won't replace the length and volume of falsies, it's a perfect mascara for every day use.

5 Uses of Mascara You Probably Do Not Know Of

Aside from foundations, the next thing that has made it through my essentials kit is probably a long-wearing and smudge-proof mascara. It is so efficient on its own as it enhances the eyes and makes it look a lot more expressive. Having not so enough tools and makeups right now, I figured out what else my favorite mascara can do. It, indeed, has become a favorite for a reason. It's intended solely for the eyes but it's a multi-tasker too. Here are the things we once never knew that we can do with our mascaras to minimize spending and maximize our resources!

1. Hair mimicker. If you have thin hairs or sparse eyebrows, you can definitely seek the help of a mascara. With the use of a spoolie, comb your hair to its direction so you can take note of the areas where sparsity is a problem. After that, grab the thinnest angled liner brush you can get a hold of, dab it on the mascara wand and mimic your hair strands. Not only it is so creative and fun to do, but you get to save your favorite eye brow palettes or pencils too!

2. Eyeliner. Shake your mascara thoroughly to make mix all the substance together, take out the mascara wand and with the use of a clean eyeliner brush, dab it on the black ink. Line your eyes as you normally would with a gel liner.You can even use a smudge brush if you want to recreate a smoky effect.

3. Brow mascara. Unruly thin brows? You can try this hack! Use your mascara wand as a brow mascara. But of course, you don't want it looking like a spider web, don't you? If you have untamed eye brows, use a spoolie to make it go on the right direction and comb it again with your mascara wand using very light strokes. Use the spoolie one more time if you overdo your brows just until it looks naturally thicker and fuller!

4. Mascara wand as an eyebrow and lashes tool. If you just emptied your mascara or if just dried out and got expired, don't be sad! You can still repurpose your mascara wand! I never thought I'd recycle my mascara wand until I bought myself some Castor Oil. While it's a bit messy to apply on my lashes and brows, I thought of the easiest way out by using my old mascara wand! If it's hairy enough to coat the lashes, just wash away all the remaining mascara with a cleansing water and it's good to go as a Castor Oil applicator!

5. Mascara wand as a nail art. I got this hack from stylecaster. True enough, the abstract look it creates make it a perfect choice for creative people out there! Drop some nail polish on the wand and stroke as you please! See, the mascara wand can bring out your inner artist!

I remember back in high school that my favorite piece of makeup was mascara. I have those cheap brand-less mascaras to drugstore ones just because they are so easy to wear and looks natural. In my school, we were not allowed to wear any makeup or nail polish and the only thing that could always pass unnoticed at the guard house were my lashes with mascara on. It's not like they would approach me and look down to my eyes.

When I go to college, people dressed more properly and I thought I should do the same. I always made sure to go to school with few swipes of my lip balm or lip tint and mascara and it seems like there's already so much difference on how I look. Up until now, I still repurchase different brands and variants of mascara, slightly going a little higher in price. Now, I am trying out Maybelline Great Lash Mascara in Big and Curved brushes.

I have to be honest that in terms of product formulation, there's not much difference on consistency, scent and shade. The only differences were the cap color (apple green for the 'big' and pink for the 'curved'), the shape of the applicator (the brush of the 'big' is like typical mascara applicators but larger in size while the 'curved' has, of course, curved brush which is perfect for the shape of the eyes), and the amount of the product that can be applied on the lashes for a period of time. I would say that the Maybelline Great Lash Mascara with the big brush apply more product than the curved one. This is very much expected though.

I like the packaging really. What stands out to me most is the fun and playful colors Maybelline uses for these products. Don't you find it cute as well? Also, the labels does not erases easily too.

These product claims to lengthen and volumize the lashes which I think is true. Let the photo down below speak for itself. My left lashes has mascara on, while the right is bare. My lashes were of medium length but the mascaras were able to lengthen it with only a few strokes. I like combining these two. I use the 'curved' one as my base mascara because it reaches hard to reach lashes on the corners near my tear duct. It is so easy to stroke upwards as it fits the shape of my eyes and dries easily. I use the 'big', however, to add more volume to my lashes and separate the hair for a fuller and more natural look. I tend to develop clumps whenever I use the 'curved' but the 'big' one somehow separates them.

Like most of the affordable mascaras I used before, this flakes and smudge on me after 8-10 hours. I don't know how it happened but the formula transfers on my bags at the end of the day or after I perspire so much even without me rubbing or touching my lashes. However, since this is not water-proof, the mascara can be removed easily with soap and water or eye makeup remover.

Overall, I think Maybelline Great Lash Mascara is such a nice drugstore find. It is affordable, does not irritate the eyes and product does not dry out too fast (just be sure to always keep the product close to prevent air from entering.) That's all for today. Happy blogging!

I have tried a few mascaras before I got my hands onto Maybelline Hypercurl Volum Express and now, I can say that it's my favorite mascara! Well, not that I have tried a lot--just the Nichido mascaras, San San, Covergirl--you know, the affordable ones. And by affordable, I meant the drugstore ones which retail at least P300 below. I'm up for some high-end discoveries but currently, they don't fit the bill.

I love the packaging--very sleek and classy with the pink and black theme. To be honest, I am a huge fan of pink and black stuff. They look very feminine without giving all out. By saying so, you won't think of it as a makeup which you can get at a dirt-cheap price of P199!

As you can see, the wand has a slight curvature that makes application so easy because it perfectly fits the arch shape of our eyes. The bristles have short ones intended for the thinnest and shortest lashes so you get an even application. without the clump. Yay! Finally I have found a mascara than applies so thinly but gives off an even and well-coated finish! Just one coat for both eyes and you're good to go! But of course if you want eyes with lashes that looks more wide-awake, longer and thicker, then you are free to add another coat. You probably don't need some false eyelashes with this!

Maybelline Hypercurl Volum' Express Waterproof Mascara has been out in the market for a long, long time already and I regret buying it just recently. Had I figure out how great it is back then, I never should have spend small bucks for other not-so-much-of-good-quality stuff.

The picture shows my lashes without (first) and with (second) mascara. It's not that much obvious there because I only want one coat of the product so it would look a bit natural and not so overdone. I love how it maintains my curls for at least 4 hours without weighing it down (unlike other mascaras) and without smudging. As a matter of fact, it's the hardest to remove makeup I had in my entire life! Could be a bad thing when I'm running out of makeup remover! Hahah!

-Formula in the container dries quickly even when sealed.

If you really want an affordable mascara that effectively lengthen and thicken your lashes and could be use in a daily basis, then you might want to give it a shot! I highly recommend it to everyone!
