Sigma Beauty F42 Strobing Fan Brush Review

Sigma Beauty F42 Strobing Fan Brush
Price: $18 (approx. P950)
Bought from: SM Beauty

Hello, everyone! I haven't had much time to create blogs last week so I'll try my best to publish all drafted posts I have in queue since I still have a day off. Today, I'll be sharing a quick review about a fan brush I got from Sigma.

We all know Sigma Beauty - it's one of the most popular makeup brush brand out there. I personally like most brushes I got from them because quality and performance are really worth your every penny. I've hated a few but they're nothing compared to the ones I absolutely love. What we have and we're going to talk about this time is this Sigma Beauty F42 Strobing Fan Brush.

CLAIMS

Your next highlight staple, this short SigmaTech® fiber fan applies and diffuses cream and powder products precisely for a strobe effect.

Just like all Sigma Beauty brushes, this one is cruelty-free and comes with 2-year warranty. The handle is made of responsibly-sourced, lightweight wood handles and has 8 coats of paint plus primer for lasting beauty. I like that the brand and brush name is printed on the handle because it's beginner's friendly and anyone will have an idea on where it can be used best.

This brush comes with a silver ferrule that is made of durable, corrosion-resistant SigmaAlloy and precious-metal plating for shine plus strength. The bristles are synthetic and anti-microbial and you know that I prefer synthetic over natural bristles when it comes to makeup brushes as I find them longer-lasting. Also, I don't like thinking of harmed animals when I'm doing my makeup so there. They absorbs less product in my opinion and the bristles stay in shape much longer.

Sigma Beauty F42 Strobing Fan Brush has jet black bristles that are soft and dense. I like the size as I can control the area that I want to be highlighted. With this brush, I can highlight my brow bone, nose and chin with ease. It picks up a good amount of product and does a very good job in blending whether it's cream or powder product. It also cleanses very well and shedding was never a problem.

This is a brush that gives you the perfect natural highlight without ripping off your pocket. No wonder it was rated 5 out of 5 in Sigma Beauty website! Such a steal, you all. Now I can say that this is one of those Sigma brushes that made it to my top 10!

Ecotools 360° Ultimate Sheer Brush Review

Ecotools 360°  Ultimate Sheer Brush
Retail price: P550 ($6.99 in US)
Bought from: Ecotools Lazada

Here's a quick review on a brush that I've been loving lately - Ecotools 360° Ultimate Sheer Brush. I've previously talked about the 360 Ultimate Blend Brush Set and that particular set of blending brushes I did not like. I was hesitant to get this brush initially because I'm tired of disappointments you know (lol), but I pushed through when Lazada went on sale last November 11. It turned out to be one of my best purchases that day after all.

CLAIMS

360° Ultimate Sheer consists of air-soft bristles to help provide a weightless, natural-looking base. Dip brush into your favorite powder, tap off excess and sweep onto face in circular motions. Continue until your desired level of coverage.

I'm very particular with stippling brushes like this and so far, I've only come to like a couple brushes other than this. I love the smaller versions which are the Ecotools Stippling Brush and Real Techniques Stippling Brush. I don't like those that are flat and flimsy and those that are made of long bristles. I've had a bit o f experience with makeup brushes that I can tell which is going to work on me the moment I get to touch and feel it. Apparently, I had a good first impression with this brush from Ecotools and the impression did last!

The brush has a different handle than a standard Ecotools brush. I really like the sturdy blush pink handle because it doesn't stain like the regular handles. Also, it's comparable to high end brushes in terms of weight and feel. I just don't like the taklon bristles used because they stain and becomes yellowish/dirty white overtime even though I haven't used them yet. They can't be removed with regular washing either. It doesn't affect its performance though.

I also like the brush name printed on the handle because it gives me the idea of what it's for. I initially thought that this is a stippling foundation brush but it was suggested to be used with a bronzer. Fair enough, the surface area of the brush is quite big so it would cover and buff product so well onto the skin.

I just learned to apply bronzer very recently and it was something I didn't do very much often before. That was one of my biggest mistake in life but I know better now. I'm happy that this brush helps me get the job done faster and it took me a little to no effort in blending. It doesn't leave any harsh lines at all.

I would say that this brush is also multi-tasking as I can use it to blend my foundation in an airbrush finish. What I would do is to apply foundation with a buffer brush and on days I picked up a 'wrong' brush, I could just use this sheer brush to  blend everything in seamlessly. I could also count on this to blend cream products.

Overall, this brush is of great quality so I highly recommend it especially to beginners. It's one of the best Ecotools brushes I own and I don't mind splurging for another one. It's indeed crafted with quality. I can tell because most stippling brush sheds nonstop, this one did not so far after three washes (I wash my brush every after use). It dries in its original shape and I know know one day the bristles shall worn out but I don't think that's very soon.

Honeybee Gardens Lip Balm in Vanilla Pie Review

Honeybee Gardens Lip Balm in Vanilla Pie
Bought for: Free with points | SRP: P195/4.5g
Bought from: Sample Room

Hey, there! I still have a shift later at work but I'm gonna be blogging about a lip product that I discovered from Sample Room just because I cannot make my eyes and my brain shut down. Don't you worry because this will be very quick. Today, we'll talk about this lip balm from the brand - Honeybee Gardens which is an international brand. It's new to me, I don't know about you.

CLAIMS

Never waxy, not greasy but lasts for hours! Contains jojoba oil to protect and moisturize your lips. Each flavor comes in a convenient twist-up tube. Gluten-free.

INGREDIENTS

Beeswax, Coconut Oil, Jojoba, Sweet Almond Oil, Vitamin E, Natural Flavor. The list of ingredients are very basic and I'm sure we're all aware that these are probably the basics of a lip balm - it just depends on the concentration, I guess. Anyway, that's good to know as there are none of those unnecessary chemicals.

PACKAGING

There's nothing really special on the packaging but I gotta say that it's so travel-friendly and I've always liked retractable packaging for lip balms. I appreciate that claims and ingredients are printed on the design so you can easily go through it whenever you feel like. It also has a safety seal. Always a reminder - don't accept if seal is broken. :D

The balm is white, almost opaque in color. It has a very subtle vanilla-ish scent (and I kind of forget that the flavor is Vanilla Pie lol). It's nothing strong so that's good, right?

Anyway, one  thing I noticed is that the balm easily melts upon contact with warm skin. That seems to be a good news in a way that it goes on the lips smoothly. I love the silky and creamy formulation. Could have its cons too because it loses its shape very easily. Good thing, it doesn't melt on its own unless, perhaps,  if the weather is terribly hot and humid. Make sure to keep it in cool, dry places to lengthen its shelf life.

The texture of it reminds me of Petroleum Jellies. It's very light on the lips and is non-sticky. No waxy feeling at all. It keeps my puckers hydrated for a long time too. Other lip balms just emphasize dryness and make it severe but this one did not.

Overall, Honeybee Gardens Lip Balm in Vanilla Pie is really a good all-natural product to buy if you have the money. Personally though, I'm contemplating whether or not to get one because first, this is a product that is hard to find and I've only seen this in Amazon, and on its official website that's based abroad. Also, it's quite expensive for a lip balm when I could've bought a 50ml petroleum jelly for only P50 and both works the same.

If money isn't an issue, go get yourself a Honeybee Gardens Lip Balm and you will not regret it. It works like how it's supposed to! Sorry if I made this blog longer than expected. Anyway, I'm off now. Happy blogging!

Mustus Chlo Gauze Peeling Pad Review

Mustus Chlo Gauze Peeling Pad
Bought for: Free | SRP: P1,540
From: Charis Celeb

Hm, so when was the last time I blogged about skincare apart from face masks? I couldn't remember! It was probably because I haven't had much time tweaking my routine and it seemed like I was doing 'shortcut' skincare for the past months. There were times I only use toners or moisturizers on their own but I'm still proud of myself for not skipping the cleansing step! I just had to remind myself to get a cleansing oil because after Althea Korea Pore Purifying Serum Cleanser, I felt like I cannot live without one anymore!

Anyway, I'm talking all unrelated stuff to where our spotlight will be in this blog so I guess let's just move forward. Today, I'll be sharing my thoughts about these Mustus Chlo Gauze Peeling Pads I've been using for more than two weeks now. It's one of the skincare items I got from Charis.

Mustus is an unfamiliar brand to me until Charis. It's an independent brand and I'm really grateful that I discover them. So far, I'm liking how it works on me in conjunction with other Mustus products I'll be reviewing in my upcoming blogs.

CLAIMS

This peeling pad eliminates old keratin and impurities with mild peeling PHA, while smoothing out skin texture with parsley extract containing chlorophyll.

HOW TO USE

Use the gauze side to intensively wipe skin with keratin and impurities, excluding eye areas. Then, use the soft side to refine skin texture.

PACKAGING

Product comes in tiny mint green packets and I honestly love it because it looks so pleasing to the eyes and also, they are travel-friendly. You can just simply pop a few sachets on your skincare kit as you travel and use it anytime you want. Every time I tear a packet open, I got this thinking that what I'm putting on my skin is fresh and clean - something that gets exposed to air for the first time. The lesser time it gets exposed, the lesser contaminants there is. I don't have a basis for that comment, it's just my OCD. Lol.

The sachets are housed in an eco-friendly brown bag that has information about the product such as directions, volume, ingredients and stuff. Looking through it, I know these products are made to be cruelty-free.

TEXTURE AND EASE OF APPLICATION

Inside of it are rectangular shaped gauze pads that has a textured side and a plain, soft side. The textured (gauze) side is meant to exfoliate and remove dead skin cells and the other one is what I use for extra cleansing. I rarely use the gauze because it's a bit rough for my liking and whenever I do, I just rub it all over my face and neck in just one go.

The soft side is what I use every single time because it's so soft and gentle on the skin. Also, it effectively removes excess oil and dirt - see for yourself as the pad changes in color.

Each pad is soaked in clear, runny essence which is enough for three uses. I don't recommend this but if you wanna save a  bit, you can cut each gauze into two. If you have small areas to cover, a half pad is enough to tone and hydrate your skin. Why three? There are so much essence left even after consuming both pads that you can still soak a clean, dry cotton ball for a third use! No kidding!

However, if you wish to cut your skincare routine short, you can just use the whole gauze to exfoliate, tone and hydrate with the remaining essence. Either way, I think these pads are a great value for money.

PERFORMANCE

These products is rich in vegan-friendly ingredients like Parsley Extract that contains Chlorophyll. I didn't know that is a great skincare ingredient but oh well, in this era, you can put almost anything to products lol. It also has  mild peeling PHA - which I had to Google because I'm only familiar with BHA and AHA lol - which is great for sensitive skin that is prone to irritation and redness. It's also a milder type of acid that moisturizes the skin and increases cell renewal. That's great if you find AHA and BHA quite strong for your skin type.

Using this for weeks, my skin has become more supple and less irritated and I feel a lesser need for using heavy duty moisturizers. My skin feels calmer and it seems to absorb everything that I put on after. It also doesn't feel heavy on the skin, it's incredibly light and it doesn't clog my pores. I experienced breakouts in the first three days but they disappeared with regular use.

Overall, Mustus Chlo Gauze Peeling Pad is a great product to use. I'm just contemplating whether or not to repurchase because it's not cheap, you know? If you have the money and if you want something pure and natural, you better spend for these. It works for all skin types!

The SM Store Beauty Haul: 70% Off Sigma Beauty Makeup Brushes

Hi, everyone! I'm pretty sure that - because Christmas is almost just a month away - The SM Store has something different to offer everyone. By different, I meant so-good-to-miss sale events. Yes, red price tags everywhere! What caught my attention was the huge markdown on Sigma Beauty Brushes which originally retails for over P1000 a piece which you can now buy for nothing over P500!

I didn't haul a lot for two reasons: one is because I was waiting for 11:11 so I cut my budget to P3,000. I got a total of 7 brushes for less than my allotted budget...can you believe it? Secondly, I got so many brushes from the brand (because I love them) and I don't see the point of me owning 2-3 brushes of the same kind. So there, I did a great job of saving, don't you think? I'm making myself believe it despite me going broke for falling to sales and bargains. It's holiday anyway so I'll forgive myself.

Moving forward, here are the items I got at 70% off and some of the brushes you'll see on sale at the official shop of The SM Store in Lazada.

Sigma E68 Line Perfector (P329). Photo grabbed from http://emmapickles.blogspot.com/

Sigma F82 Round Kabuki (P419.90). Photo grabbed from https://fluoresblog.blogspot.com/

October 2019 Product Empties

I'm not sure when I last uploaded and blogged about my product empties but I'm sure I skipped a month or two. I've also thrown out some because they already won't fit my MPE basket so. Today, I'll be sharing with you what stuff I let go last October and as usual, I'll include links to full feature. Just a disclamer - the items that will be featured are products I really did like so I'm sure reading through it will be worth your time. ;D

Mustus Chlo Gauze Peeling Pads (I didn't include all in one pic)

That's basically everything! I'm near to emptying more skincare and I'll just include them in my November Product Empties we'll talk about next month! Let me know if you have any suggestions what products to try next! Happy blogging!

Leaders Insolution Juicy Pina Colada Bright Mask Review

Leaders Insolution Juicy Pina Colada Bright Mask
Bought for: P189
Bought from: an online shop

I don't usually splurge for facial masks but the overall packaging has an aesthetic value that somehow drown me into carting this mask from Leaders Insolution. I'm quite familiar with this brand but never had the chance to try one of its products (until this) because their sheet masks are quite expensive a piece. Out of curiosity and awe for the packaging, I finally convinced myself to get one.

CLAIMS

A glass of refreshing fruit cocktail for your skin! Juicy Pina Colada Mask is made from Fermented Coconut Gel Sheet with Pineapple Extract and Coconut Water clears and moisturizes skin and provides vital care.

Pineapple Fruit Extract is rich in Vitamin A, B, C that brightens skin; Coconut Water gives essential minerals that naturally moisturizes. It also calms and soothes the skin with its cooling effect; The aromatic scent of pineapple provides a pleasant feeling, while using the mask; Bio-Cellulose Mask Sheet; No Parabens, No Phenoxyethanol, No Triethanilamine, No Ethanol. This is recommended for those with dull, rough and unbalanced, irritated, itchy and sun-damaged skin.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

  • The Bio-Cellulose Sheet has protective sheet on both sides of the mask.
  • Remove the protective sheet from one side of the mask.
  • Attach the mask without protective sheet, aligning the eyes, nose and mouth.
  • Remove the protective sheet on the other side.
  • Let the skin absorb the essence for 10-20 minutes.
  • Remove the mask and gently pat the skin to let the remaining essence absorb.

When I took the sheet mask out, I immediately unfold it and it was kind of hard because it's dripping with essences. I thought that was amazing because the juice leftovers can be reused for another session or I can just apply to other parts of my body that needed moisture.

One thing I noticed is that it has 3 layers of sheet masks. I thought that was weird so I remove the first two layers off my face so I can reuse the other two. I also did that because the size of the mask is too big and it doesn't fit well to the contours of my skin. I ran through the description one more time and found out that the real sheet mask is the one in between the two protective films. That's the reason why the mask doesn't feel right on my face as it's kind of rough and irritating. Please don't think I'm stupid. :D Come to think of it, it's the essence that we're after, right? :P

the protective film

the actual sheet mask

The actual mask actually feels like it's made of hydrogel and I like that it adheres to the skin very well. Though the size is still a bit baggy on my face, I was able to move it freely so that every part of my skin gets covered. I like how soft and smooth the mask is and despite the texture, it doesn't tear very easily.

This facial mask has a cooling effect and my skin is instantly refreshed and pampered. The pineapple is okay but could be bothersome to those who have very sensitive sense of smell.

Just like what I have said, this mask is very hydrating so does give off a slightly sticky layer but thankfully, it doesn't clog the pores. This is even better for those with dry skin types. The next day, I woke up with supple, healthy and smooth-looking skin! It also improves the skin's natural glow.

The mask is very innovative and does feel so good on the skin. It's quite expensive for a one-time use product, but is definitely worth it. This is a nice facial skincare that you can count on especially when you are having dry, scaly and dull skin. With regular use, skin is more supple and hydrated.
