Trying Out Apollo Lip Balms and Castor Oil For The First Time

It's been a while since the last time I did a skincare review. Don't get me wrong, I still do my everyday skincare (well, pretty much), but my work just has never been this demanding and it eats up too much of my time and energy. I've always wanted to leave but my slacking won't definitely cover my daily expenses and the family's dream to finally stop living in a rented apartment and move into a new home.

Yup, for the past months, I've been working hard to save for our home improvement. It's in the making and even if we're done paying off the renovation expenses, there's still a lot of furniture to buy so I gotta work my ass off. Sorry if I am telling you this in a supposed-to-be-skincare post, but my excited fingers just couldn't stop. Anyway, let's just move forward and start with today's agenda.

Apollo Lip Balm in Original

I got all these Apollo products from Sample Room. I'm in a tight budget right now so I guess I'll have to live with free products until maybe the house is done? Just kidding.

I am sure that I don't need to introduce Apollo to most of you - I mean their Petroleum Jellies has been part our household essentials at one point. Price point, efficiency and ease of purchase are probably the primary factors. It's so great to hear that their petroleum business has now expanded to lip balms and beauty oils. I don't know if it's just me, but I love lip balms so much and I can not definitely leave the house without one.

Anyway, these lip balms are the cutest. I mean the idea of the packaging is not really original because there's Vaseline and whatnot, right? But I love that it's so handy and convenient to bring anywhere. I could bring the tiniest of my bag and this would just fits so perfectly. I could even just slip it on my dress' pockets and voíla!

This tiny pot of petroleum jelly never leave my work table, TBH. I always apply it every freakin' time my lips feel so parched and it would instantly provide relief. Moisture last long but given that I unconsciously licks my lips from time to time and I drink quite a lot, the need to reapply is so frequent. I have super dry lips all year round and this product helps the skin to recover. When I accidentally picks on the hanging dead skin and it causes bleeding, I would just apply a generous amount, and the wound would heal quickly.

Apollo Lip Balm in Pretty Pink

Apollo Lip Balms also came in a tinted variant. The formulation is just the same and both feels creamy and smooth, the only difference apart from the color is the strawberry scent of the latter. But probably because of the added chemical, I find it a bit drying when used overtime. My lips has always been sensitive to tinted lip products so I try to limit my use since I am working from home and there's no need to dress up.

However, my mom actually enjoys it. She traded her Vaseline one to this because she said that the Vaseline isn't actually giving her lips some color. She said that she could skip lipstick and just use the Apollo instead because it's enough to give her lips some rosy shade any skin color would look good on. I agree though. I don't suggest trading makeup and skincare products but because we're mom and daughter so no big deal LOL.

Both lips balms are so affordable and a little goes a long way, and they surely did last for a couple of months. I think that it's a great value for money and definitely a must-have.

Apollo 100% Pure Cold-Pressed Castor Oil

For those who believe that using beauty oils, particularly Castor Oil, to lengthen and thicken eye brows and lashes isn't an old myth, yes, Apollo has Castol Oil is here to save your day. It's so cheap and you get a tube that will last forever.

I tried using beauty oils way back when I was younger and though it was an on and off process, I noticed that my lashes became stronger and less prone to damage. There were bald spots in my brows that were soon filled. I stopped because I'm satisfied with the average thickness and length of my lashes. Also, it wasn't convenient and I don't like it when oils smears into the rest of my face. I have oily skin too and I was not comfortable about it especially when it gets inside the eyes.

If you are more patient that I am, using Castor Oil for the brows and lashes would help shape and tame hair overtime. I am sure that all hardwork pays off in the end.

I guess that's pretty much everything. Let me know what are your thoughts about these products, whether you are a believer of these or not. I would love to hear from you. Happy weekends, everyone!

Honeybee Gardens Lip Balm in Vanilla Pie Review

Honeybee Gardens Lip Balm in Vanilla Pie
Bought for: Free with points | SRP: P195/4.5g
Bought from: Sample Room

Hey, there! I still have a shift later at work but I'm gonna be blogging about a lip product that I discovered from Sample Room just because I cannot make my eyes and my brain shut down. Don't you worry because this will be very quick. Today, we'll talk about this lip balm from the brand - Honeybee Gardens which is an international brand. It's new to me, I don't know about you.

CLAIMS

Never waxy, not greasy but lasts for hours! Contains jojoba oil to protect and moisturize your lips. Each flavor comes in a convenient twist-up tube. Gluten-free.

INGREDIENTS

Beeswax, Coconut Oil, Jojoba, Sweet Almond Oil, Vitamin E, Natural Flavor. The list of ingredients are very basic and I'm sure we're all aware that these are probably the basics of a lip balm - it just depends on the concentration, I guess. Anyway, that's good to know as there are none of those unnecessary chemicals.

PACKAGING

There's nothing really special on the packaging but I gotta say that it's so travel-friendly and I've always liked retractable packaging for lip balms. I appreciate that claims and ingredients are printed on the design so you can easily go through it whenever you feel like. It also has a safety seal. Always a reminder - don't accept if seal is broken. :D

The balm is white, almost opaque in color. It has a very subtle vanilla-ish scent (and I kind of forget that the flavor is Vanilla Pie lol). It's nothing strong so that's good, right?

Anyway, one  thing I noticed is that the balm easily melts upon contact with warm skin. That seems to be a good news in a way that it goes on the lips smoothly. I love the silky and creamy formulation. Could have its cons too because it loses its shape very easily. Good thing, it doesn't melt on its own unless, perhaps,  if the weather is terribly hot and humid. Make sure to keep it in cool, dry places to lengthen its shelf life.

The texture of it reminds me of Petroleum Jellies. It's very light on the lips and is non-sticky. No waxy feeling at all. It keeps my puckers hydrated for a long time too. Other lip balms just emphasize dryness and make it severe but this one did not.

Overall, Honeybee Gardens Lip Balm in Vanilla Pie is really a good all-natural product to buy if you have the money. Personally though, I'm contemplating whether or not to get one because first, this is a product that is hard to find and I've only seen this in Amazon, and on its official website that's based abroad. Also, it's quite expensive for a lip balm when I could've bought a 50ml petroleum jelly for only P50 and both works the same.

If money isn't an issue, go get yourself a Honeybee Gardens Lip Balm and you will not regret it. It works like how it's supposed to! Sorry if I made this blog longer than expected. Anyway, I'm off now. Happy blogging!

Prreti Honey & Berry Lip Sleeping Mask Review

Prreti Honey & Berry Lip Sleeping Mask
Bought for: P118
Bought from: Althea Korea

I've always had dry, dull lips and most lip balms just don't work at all. They moisturize my lips for a moment and then it's gone. I am so happy I've found a lip sleeping mask that works like magic. Today, let's talk about this lip product from the brand PRRETI.

I actually find the brand's name a bit strange and funny, perhaps because it's almost similar to the word 'pretty' just with a slight tweak on how you spell it. But of course, just like any other brands, I'm sure it means something.

CLAIMS (AS PER MISHIBOX)

The sweetest secret of lovely girls, PRRETI! Cosmetics by PRRETI embodies the sweetness, lovely and naturally fresh beauty of a young girl in its cosmetics. Say goodbye to dry, chapped lips and say hello to fresh, sweet and lovely lips with the Honey and Berry Lip Sleeping Mask. This cute sleeping mask for the lips will invigorate dry lips overnight and is great for all skin types. Pamper your lips with this intensive honey care to help calm irritation while hydrating and restoring moisture balance of your lips.
PRRETI Honey and Berry Lip Sleeping Mask contains acacia honey that creates a barrier to protect the sensitive skin of the lips from harsh environmental irritation and gives it a natural sheen. Vitamin C and a variety of antioxidants (berry complex) revitalizes exhausted skin. Betaine and Trehalose provide a natural moisturizing effect and maintain the skin's moisture barrier while improving moisture retention.

CAUTIONS AND INGREDIENTS

I couldn't read Korean but in case you can, I hope you can translate these for me. :)

PACKAGING

The sleeping mask is enclosed in an easy-to-squeeze tube and has a yellow and orange theme. Everything looks playful even the design so I think it's a cute touch to the vanity. I love how slim and small it is that I can easily bring it with me wherever I go. The tiny hole up there is very useful as I can easily control the amount to dispense and the angled surface makes it easy to apply the gloss straight to the lips.

SCENT, TEXTURE AND CONSISTENCY

I love the sweet berry scent so much and I'm sure you will too. The texture, formulation and color reminds me of honey which makes it more fun to apply. This lip sleeping mask has a rich consistency and is gel-textured that you won't doubt its power to moisturize the lips. It's even thicker than my LANEIGE SPECIAL CARE LIP SLEEPING MASK and it adheres to the skin so well that it can last you the entire day even when you drink and eat several times. You might want to be careful not to accidentally wipe your lips, with maybe your hands, because it's so sticky that it's uncomfortable.

PERFORMANCE
This has got to be the thickest formulated lip treatment I've ever tried. I am usually not a fan of thick, sticky skincare products (oily skin problems) but I'm always forgiving when it comes to lip products. I want it to be so thick and rich that it would last through eating and drinking and will give me intense moisture. Thanks to Prreti for inventing this!

Even when the product has been completely wiped off, my lips still feel so supple and hydrated. It just means that my skin absorbs this product easily despite its thick formulation. I like how it soothes my dry, chapped lips overnight, smooths out rough texture and prep my lips for tomorrow's makeup. This is indeed perfect to bring and apply anywhere and anytime you need glowy and plump lips. You can even layer it on top of your usual lipstick for the sexy, glossy puckers.

According to Althea, Prreti uses only the healthy ingredients like Acacia Honey which is known as the queen of honey for its delicate scent and luxurious flavor. It is also loaded with vitamins that enhances the skin's elasticity. It also has Berry Mix Complex (total of 7 berry extracts) that are rich in Vitamin C and is beneficial to the skin. So much for a 118-peso product!

This is probably one of my best finds in Althea Korea. I'm glad I've found something much more delish to substitute my Petroleum Jelly with. I'll surely hoard more especially when it gets cold!

Does Prreti Honey & Berry Lip Sleeping Mask interest you?

Simple 3-Step Lip Care Routine With Human Nature Lip Care Products

Hello, everyone! Just want to share with you, girls, my very simple lip care routine with three products I trust from Human Nature. These are the items I purchased months ago but still using up until now. My lips is far from being perfect, they are the most sensitive parts of my body, they do chap and bleed from time to time but I make sure I do these three steps whenever I have to.

FIRST, EXFOLIATE.

I know it's very likely to pick on hanging skin when our lips are chapped and dry so the least we can do is have it the healthy way. I really like Human Nature Lip Scrub in Peppermint because of its awesome moisturizing and smoothening properties. The minty sensation helps soothe broken skin and the scrubs are abrasive enough to slough away all the dead skin cells on my lips without having to cause further damage.

Alternative: Just mix a small amount of raw honey and brown sugar into paste and apply on the lips very gently. Do not overdo as it might irritate your skin rather than do something fulfilling.

SECOND, MOISTURIZE.

I never, ever skip lip balms because my lips are so dry, you can't imagine how much. The color have became uneven because of too much chapping and bleeding caused by lip products itself. This made me skeptical in trying just almost anything on my lips. And because I don't want to compromise how I look during the day, I like using tinted lip balms because it's basically moisture and color in one. If you are looking for one, try this Human Nature Tinted Lip Balm in Flame Tree. They also have flavored lip balms that aren't tinted like the peppermint variant that goes well with the scrub and is also 100% natural.

Alternative: Petroleum jellies are my favorites too!

LAST BUT NOT THE LEAST, TREAT.

Sometimes, your lips need treatment too just like our facial skin. While we use overnight sleeping mask, why not moisturize your lips while you sleep too? Lip care needs very low maintenance. All you need to have is a reliable product like Human Nature Sunflower Lip Miracle. It soften the skin overnight and helps improve the overall texture of the skin. It does wonders at a very low price.

Alternative: Lip sleeping masks and packs or any deep moisturizing lip balms like Burt Bee's.

And there you have it! All you need is a 3-step routine to maintain a good, less-textured canvas where you put on lipstick so smoothly. Let me know what you do to keep your lips as healthy as possible! Happy blogging!

Laneige Special Care Lip Sleeping Mask Review

Laneige Special Care Lip Sleeping Mask
Bought for: P180 (3g, trial size)
Bought from: an online shop

My puckers are extremely sensitive. Chapped, dry, dark lips has long been a headache for me. I have never found anything close to making the delicate skin around my lips hydrated on most days and keeping it from getting flaky after a good wear time of lipsticks or tints. This is actually the reason why I don't own too many lip products on my vanity. Although they make me beautiful momentarily but as a long-term effect, my lips would REALLY chap and it would take me forever to restore a smooth skin. I couldn't help stripping off the lousy skin (sometimes it peels on its own) and as a result, my lips would bleed, hence the unevenness of color and texture.

I have tried too many lip balms and ointments I could ever get from quick visits to the drugstores and online shops and although I have my fair share of favorites, they are all just the same--too much moisture that does not last long. My ultimate favorites are petroleum jellies but I don't want to limit myself for that. I have to look for alternatives.

Ingredients

Diisostearyl Malate, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Phytosteryl/Isostearyl/Cetyl/Stearyl/Behenyl Dimer Dilinoleate, Hydrogenated C6-14 Olefin Polymers, Polybutene, Microcrystalline Wax, Shea Butter, Synthetic Wax, Candelilla Wax, Sucrose Tetrastearate Triacetate, Hydrogenated Butylene/Ethylene/Styrene Copolymer, Ethylene/Propylene/Styrene Copolymer, Mica, Astrocaryum murumuru Seed Butter, Titanium Dioxide, Dimethicone, Aromatics, Polyglyceryl-2 Diisostearate, Dehydroacetic Acid, Methicone, Carnauba Wax, Polyglyceryl-2 Triisostearate, CI 15985, CI 15850, Polyhydroxystearic Acid, Water, Potassium Alginate, Propanediol, Glycerin, Alcohol, Lycium Fruit Extract, Cranberry Fruit Extract, Strawberry Fruit Extract, Raspberry Fruit Extract, Sapindus mukurossi Fruit Extract, Blueberry Fruit Extract, Rubus chamaemorus Seed Extract, Coffee Extract, Chenopodium quinoa Seed Extract, Magnesium Sulfate, Calcium Chloride, Sodium Hyaluronate, Beta-Glucan, Manganese Sulfate, Zinc Sulfate, Ascorbyl Glucoside

Texture, Consistency and Ease of Application

Bouncy, soft and creamy to the touch, this lip sleeping mask is way beyond thicker in consistency than most lip products I have tried. It's sticky when you try to pat it on your skin but miraculously felt so light and hydrating once applied to the lips. It's a product that's quite tacky but isn't annoying or uncomfortable at all. Those with ultra chapped lips like mine would really like the level of moisture it provides. Sticky and thick in formula on its own, lipsticks may fail to adhere if applied over this mask. If you want an extra glossy look though, layer it on top of a matte lipstick for a juicy-looking pucker ready for a magazine shoot. And do take note  that you don't have to use so much because a little (as little as eye cream suggested amount or lesser) goes a long way.

Scent

Has a strawberry scent I so love! If you are not a fan of it though, I don't think you'll find it attractive enough. Plus the blush color is sooooo... gorgeous, don't you think?

Overall Performance

To be honest, this product did not totally get rid of my chapped, dry lips--they are still there seasonally and I don't think dryness would ever dare leave my lips in peace. But what I love most about this product is that its moisturizing enough that I don't need to reapply even if I am on a colder environment. I can also wake up to softer, plumper lips because ev en though I sleep recklessly and the product gets wiped off completely, there's still a thin layer of moisture sufficient enough to soothe my lips. I use it whatever time of the day it is and I would say reapplication is necessary but not as frequent as other lip balms should. Others may think full-sized product is a little expensive but I think it's worth it. It's a good product to prime your lips before applying lipstick in the morning!

Human Nature Peppermint 100% Natural Lip Balm Review

Human Nature Peppermint 100% Natural Lip Balm
Bought for: P90/ 4 grams
From: Human Nature

Claims
Kiss dry lips goodbye. Keep lips soft and supple with a moisture-rich blend of cocoa butter, beeswax and sunflower oil in mouth-watering natural flavors. Sweet lip base Swipe it on before your favorite lipstick to keep your lips nourished and protected from chapping. Available in 5 yummy flavors: Cherry, Peppermint, Wild Berry, Grape and Cola.

I am still obsessed with the whole lip tint trend but there are times when I want my lips to just rest and get all the hydration it needs. While I enjoy exfoliating using the Human Nature Peppermint Lip Scrub and having a good night's rest with Sunflower Lip Miracle in Mint as my overnight lip mask, it's still nice to have something which I can layer underneath my tint or lipstick for extra moisture and just something to bring wherever I go fuss-free.

There are actually 2 kinds of lip balms Human Nature has: those which are flavored and those that are tinted. I actually have tried one of the tinted variants in the shade Flame Tree which has been a long time go-to lip balm for me. It's hydration and color in one, as simple as that. Flavored lip balms aren't something that raises so much excitement, we hardly ever had shortage of it, but since I love lip balms whatever they are, I gave this one from Human Nature a try. After all, it's Human Nature, babe. I mean who does not want cruelty-free, natural products that just works? I couldn't ask for more as I look on the ingredient list!

Nothing fancy about its packaging--just typical bullet-type packaging yet neat and informative. I just had a problem with the cap as its too loose that it tends to separate, leaving the product itself open for contamination. I know I just had a poorly packaged one and I couldn't speak for all but Human Nature should be more cautious with that. They shouldn't have released something that might cause some fault in terms of sanitation. You might think I'm quite picky but you'll get what I mean especially when you don't receive the product sealed and the cap's loose and who knows someone opened it before you!

This lip balm is moisturizing providing the fact that it's loaded with essential oils and other natural ingredients. It smells really lovely, you know, the typical scent you get when you sniff something with mint on it. However, one thing I noticed is that the cooling sensation gradually lessens as you go over with the product. Also, the moisturizing factor isn't something I can rave about. Although it provides instant hydration, calms skin and can withstand light drinking, you might need to retouch some more after a few hours. To be fair though, I haven't encountered any lip balm that lasts all day. I don't think anyone would mind this though as lip balms are so convenient to use, you can have it anywhere as it fits pouches or pockets perfectly and oh c'mon this certainly wouldn't break the bank!

This product does not totally get rid of my super sensitive, chapped and dry lips but I'm glad I have it with me during times my lips need some quick moisture and touch of softness. It glides easily on the lips and does not feel heavy. It does not give that super glossy look which I love and it does not interfere with the pigmentation and color payoff of your lipstick. Also, it's quite a trend to have SPF-infused lip balm and even though I don't have the right to demand, I would request this to Human Nature if ever I get the chance.

How do you find Human Nature Peppermint 100% Natural Lip Balm? Sounds interesting? Have you tried it? Share your comments down below! Today's April Fools but I'll never lie!

Human Heart Nature Tinted Lip Balm in Flame Tree Review

Human Heart Nature Tinted Lip Balm in Flame Tree
Bought for: Sale at P80 | SRP: P100
Bought from: Human Heart Nature

Here's a brief review on Human Heart Nature Tinted Lip Balm in Flame Tree which I have been loving for quite a while. You know very much how I was born with super sensitive lips that is prone to chapping and I could easily count in one hand which products worked overtime and did not cause any further damages to it. This featured product right here, by far, is the best tinted lip balm I have tried in my life. I regretted doubting it as first because I usually compare them with lipsticks which are extremely drying. The only difference is that the former has added moisture factor. But! This tinted lip balm right here is so much more. I was not sponsored by anyone to review or gush about this and I bought it with my own money. Now, it turns out to be my go-to lip balm and tint in one!

Very promising ingredients! Claims to be 100% natural!

Description as per humanheartnature.com
  • A hint of color.
Swipe on a moisturizing sheer tint for quick fixes on the go. Get fab in seconds: no mirror needed!
  • Feel-good nourishment.
This blend of cocoa butter, beeswax and all-natural plant oils keeps your lips soft and moisturized through the day.
  • Actual color register may vary depending on the pigmentation of your lips.
  • Did You Know? Cocoa butter's melting point is around 34-38°C, which is close to your normal body temperature. Because it melts upon contact with your lips, its emollient and moisturizing properties get absorbed into your skin easier.

Packaging

This product comes in three fun variants: Pink Orchid (pink), Island Kiss (coral) and Flame Tree  (red). They all comes in the traditional bullet-type sticks and has a good amount of product inside  (4g). It displays all necessary information such as the list of ingredients, expiry date and other proof of authenticity. I like that the product is very handy and because I need it every now and then, I make sure to tuck it inside the pockets of my jeans or polo and I'm good to go! No mirror needed as it's mistake proof!

Texture, Pigmentation and Ease of Application

This product has a creamy consistency, glides easily on the lips without tugging and gives a very subtle pop of color of the lips. When you try to look closely, there's tiny glitters and shimmers on it but isn't noticeable once you have it on you lips. Good thing 'cause I am never a fan of glittered lip products. I like shimmery stuff but not on my lips lol. It also feels comfortable as it has a minty effect that's kind of refreshing and does not feel heavy on the lips. This is the darkest shade among all 3 variants and looks solid red from the tube but it only gives a very sheer color once  applied. I like it this way because I am someone who prefers natural-looking makeup that are not overwhelming. However, if you picked Flame Tree with high expectation on its pigmentation, I'll tell you now that you'll be disappointed as the color payoff looks way too far from its shade on the tube and goes away easily. And since this is already the darkest shade, I assume that the rest has a very sheer pop of colors as well. Still, I love that they are wearable enough for daily use.

Performance

I have been eyeing nude lipstick since it became on trend but wasn't able to splurge for one because my lips are very sensitive to traditional or liquid lipsticks and I'm afraid I'll just waste money for them. Little did I know that the nudish tint (although claimed to be red) from this lip balm will satisfy me with a good shade that matches my skin tone while slowly doing the 'repair' on my dry puckers. The combination of all effective emollients like Castor, Beeswax, Cocoa Butter, Sunflower Oil, etc. are effective enough to heal my chapped lips and reduce the look of hyper pigmentation. Use it together with the Sunflower Lip Miracle in Mint and Peppermint Lip Scrub and you will notice that the combination is powerful enough to lighten dark lips and make it soft and supple with less creases! One con though is that this product's moisture does not last very long and that a lot of reapplication daily is recommended to achieve significant effect. I don't mind running out every after few months since their price point fits my budget!

I am now having good impressions with Human Heart Nature Products and now am looking forward to try more from them! I highly recommend their lip products for everyone! Very worth the money, I tell you. Anyway, have you tried this product already? Loved it? No? Let's talk down below!
