Laneige Special Care Lip Sleeping Mask Review

Laneige Special Care Lip Sleeping Mask
Bought for: P180 (3g, trial size)
Bought from: an online shop

My puckers are extremely sensitive. Chapped, dry, dark lips has long been a headache for me. I have never found anything close to making the delicate skin around my lips hydrated on most days and keeping it from getting flaky after a good wear time of lipsticks or tints. This is actually the reason why I don't own too many lip products on my vanity. Although they make me beautiful momentarily but as a long-term effect, my lips would REALLY chap and it would take me forever to restore a smooth skin. I couldn't help stripping off the lousy skin (sometimes it peels on its own) and as a result, my lips would bleed, hence the unevenness of color and texture.

I have tried too many lip balms and ointments I could ever get from quick visits to the drugstores and online shops and although I have my fair share of favorites, they are all just the same--too much moisture that does not last long. My ultimate favorites are petroleum jellies but I don't want to limit myself for that. I have to look for alternatives.

Texture, Consistency and Ease of Application

Bouncy, soft and creamy to the touch, this lip sleeping mask is way beyond thicker in consistency than most lip products I have tried. It's sticky when you try to pat it on your skin but miraculously felt so light and hydrating once applied to the lips. It's a product that's quite tacky but isn't annoying or uncomfortable at all. Those with ultra chapped lips like mine would really like the level of moisture it provides. Sticky and thick in formula on its own, lipsticks may fail to adhere if applied over this mask. If you want an extra glossy look though, layer it on top of a matte lipstick for a juicy-looking pucker ready for a magazine shoot. And do take note  that you don't have to use so much because a little (as little as eye cream suggested amount or lesser) goes a long way.

Scent

Has a strawberry scent I so love! If you are not a fan of it though, I don't think you'll find it attractive enough. Plus the blush color is sooooo... gorgeous, don't you think?

Overall Performance

To be honest, this product did not totally get rid of my chapped, dry lips--they are still there seasonally and I don't think dryness would ever dare leave my lips in peace. But what I love most about this product is that its moisturizing enough that I don't need to reapply even if I am on a colder environment. I can also wake up to softer, plumper lips because ev en though I sleep recklessly and the product gets wiped off completely, there's still a thin layer of moisture sufficient enough to soothe my lips. I use it whatever time of the day it is and I would say reapplication is necessary but not as frequent as other lip balms should. Others may think full-sized product is a little expensive but I think it's worth it. It's a good product to prime your lips before applying lipstick in the morning!
