Cosrx Mela14 White Ampule Review

I never got rid of my pimple and acne scars I've long developed ever since I hit puberty. I couldn't blame it solely for my lousy sleeping nor eating habits because genes, that's why. Even in my early 20s, I keep on fighting probably all types of skin problems and they just seem to resurface nonstop.  I know prevention is better than cure but seems like it's against me so I'd rather cure them than do nothing at all. While I'm into trying out different acne-fighting products, I'm also on the lookout for effective products that targets dark spots and hyperpigmentation. In a way, I'm treating breakouts and prevent them from leaving disgusting marks on the skin.

Cosrx is a Korean skin care brand that has gone popular nowadays. They are widely known to use safe and natural ingredients and they offer variety of functional products for any skin types and problems. To test their efficacy (more like because I'm so intrigued), I tweaked 70-80% of my routine for Cosrx products. One of which is this Cosrx Mela14 White Ampule which I'm going to review today!

Claims (as per Beautyml)
A gel-type whitening ampule that transforms skin in 14 days; lightens skin for a radiant, lustrous complexion; infused with apple water for maximum hydration and nutrition; brightens overall complexion and prevents dark spots; comes with a convenient and hygienic dropper; perfect for dull, blemished, lackluster skin
Ingredients
Pyrus Malus(Apple) Fruit Water, Butylene Glycol, Niacinamide, Alcohol, Betaine, 1,2-Hexanediol, Glycolic Acid, Betaine Salicylate, Phenylethyl Resorcinol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Allantoin, Panthenol, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Xanthan Gum, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Sodium Hydroxide
How To Use
Cleanse and tone your skin. Place 1-2 droplets on your hand or at the tips of your fingers and gently pat product onto face.

Packaging

The product comes in typical bottles of ampules with a dropper and an outer plastic cap. It looks like it just came out straight from a lab haha! Though it's made of fragile glass, I love the overall packaging, there's no way it would ever look cheap as it has a weight to it. I find it very sanitary to use too because of the cap which at first I didn't know the purpose of. Later on, I figured out probably it's intended to protect the rubber (dropper handle) inside from any dust and dirt. Quite a small detail but very useful indeed. Also, unlike any other serum or ampule in a dropper bottle, it has an extra rubber seal on its crater which probably helps to prevent air from coming through. The product does not have much information printed on it but thankfully, the accompanying box has it all and they are even written in English!

Texture, Consistency and Ease of Application

COSRX Mela14 White Ampule comes in a clear white, a bit runny, gel-type ampule with a scent that's barely there. Once applied, you'll have to bear with its tacky formula for quite a few minutes before the product gets absorbed completely. That saying, I would advise to use only a small amount of this product so you won't get dewy all over. Since I have super oily skin, I make it to a point to limit application with just at least less than a pump, just enough to give my skin a very thin layer of ampule. Then, I'll just dab some more on areas which needs extra attention.

After a few minutes, you'll notice that your skin is really hydrated and the tackiness seem to fade a bit. I would say this makes it suitable for those with dry and even those with sensitive skin as well. Although, I would suggest that you do a patch test first, because the first three days that I used this, there was a bit of a tingling sensation. It goes away after a few seconds though.

Performance

I like the fact that this is hydrating enough for my skin but it comes with some cons too. I couldn't use any other creams or moisturizers on top of it because it's too moisturizing for my oily skin. I even stopped using most of my Cosrx moisturizers just because. I even oil up quite fast even when using this alone. And during the times I'd like to put some makeup on, I could only apply a teeny bit of foundation because my base tends to look cakey. After two uses, I had to limit my usage just every night.

I appreciate that Cosrx uses minimal ingredients onto their products, gets rid of anything unnecessary, but those alone didn't make quite significant changes on my skin. I know miracle does not usually happen overnight but this product didn't make my skin bright or radiant at all. What it does is just over-moisturize my skin and nothing else. Although it did not break me out, it did not do much on my dark spots and uneven skin tone. Considering the price tag, I expected a lot from this product only to figure out it just doesn't work.

Overall Thoughts

If you wanted something to keep your skin hydrated, this product is for you. It's one whitening product that isn't drying on the skin. I wouldn't recommend it though for the reason that it does not suit my skin and it's quite pricey for all it claimed that aren't true. I won't discourage you to try this because not everything that does not work for me will yield you the same result. We all have different skin type and reactions may vary too.

Have you tried Cosrx Mela14 White Ampule? How was it?
