Pond's White Beauty Perfect Potion Essence Review

I've been breaking out since last week and I'm not so sure why. My period just ended and so it must be hormones. Ugh. Good thing, I've got something here that saves the day! Pond's White Beauty Perfect Potion Essence has been calming my skin by providing instant hydration. I first saw this in Sample Room. I'm glad that they have it because I wasn't ready to spend P499 (110ml) right away for a product that I haven't tested yet. By the time I was writing this, my bottle has almost ran out. I've been using it everyday for likand increases application during the times I feel like my skin is dull and parched.

Can't we just appreciate how gorgeous the packaging is? It's pink and just...pretty. End of story. It's made of thick plastic, a twist cap, sturdy enough for something that's worth P499. It doesn't leak at all so it's safe to bring during one of your travels. I also appreciate that it has loads of information at the back. I like reading them so I would know what it could do to the skin and set my expectations too.

Pond's White Beauty Perfect Potion Essence contains 110ml amount of product. I don't mind paying P499 for a skincare product, I just honestly wish that there's more. This is a product that you can use 3 ways: as an essence, toner or mask so it requires you to really use plenty of it in one go. Maybe if a bottle contains a bit more than the given amount, I wouldn't complain at all.

Pond's White Beauty Perfect Potion Essence is inspired by Korean skincare routine so that explains the 3 ways (toner-essence/serum-mask). If you are someone (like me) who occasionally skip a step or two in your daily regimen, products like this are the best option. It saves you time and money as well.

This product claims to brighten the skin, fade blemishes and dark spots, and hydrates for that plump, healthy skin. With 4D Hyaluronic Acid (HA) Complex + (4 different types of HA that can moisturize and hydrate each layer), Gluta-boost essence (antioxidant that works 10x more effective than Vitamin C and also works to brighten skin and fade dark spots) and Vitamin B3+ or Niacinamide (which reduce dullness and minimize the appearance of pores). I like any products with Niacinamide because it usually helps with the overall look of my skin.

There's a lot of popular ingredients that you will see on the list of ingredients so it must be the reason why the price is a bit steep. Given that, you will really expect a lot from this product.

I apply this product every morning and night time using a cotton pad. On days when my skin feels a little extra dry and looks dull, I'd just pour a generous amount on my palms, dab it on my face and let it absorb all the moisture. The essence is clear and runny so my skin doesn't have a hard time absorbing it. It dries to a lightweight, slightly dewy finish. It won't give you the glassy skin that we all want, but it's enough to make your skin look hydrated and plump every single use. If you wish to skip moisturizer, feel free to do another layer until you're satisfied. You can definitely do "skins" with this without any stickiness.

I've been using it for about three weeks now and it works well with Pond's Age Miracle line which I've been using for about a month now. I like how this essence feels so comfortable on the skin and doesn't make me oil up too much. When used with a cotton ball, it could deeply cleanse the skin too as it removes excess dirt and oil from the pores. Thus, it helps absorb anything you apply afterwards.

Pond's White Beauty Perfect Potion Essence has a slightly floral scent which my nose can tolerate. I like it actually. Out of the three ways you can use it, I like it best as a toner (so I can save every precious drop LOL). This is great toner to make your dark spots and blemishes appear less visible and to add radiance to your overall complexion. All you have to do is to use it religiously. If you have more severe problems like acne, you need a product that's really intended for it to use in conjunction with. Prolly the only thing that holds me back from repurchasing is the price point. If only it comes in a bigger bottle, or if it goes on sale, then I definitely would buy again.

Leaders Insolution Juicy Pina Colada Bright Mask Review

Leaders Insolution Juicy Pina Colada Bright Mask
Bought for: P189
Bought from: an online shop

I don't usually splurge for facial masks but the overall packaging has an aesthetic value that somehow drown me into carting this mask from Leaders Insolution. I'm quite familiar with this brand but never had the chance to try one of its products (until this) because their sheet masks are quite expensive a piece. Out of curiosity and awe for the packaging, I finally convinced myself to get one.

CLAIMS

A glass of refreshing fruit cocktail for your skin! Juicy Pina Colada Mask is made from Fermented Coconut Gel Sheet with Pineapple Extract and Coconut Water clears and moisturizes skin and provides vital care.

Pineapple Fruit Extract is rich in Vitamin A, B, C that brightens skin; Coconut Water gives essential minerals that naturally moisturizes. It also calms and soothes the skin with its cooling effect; The aromatic scent of pineapple provides a pleasant feeling, while using the mask; Bio-Cellulose Mask Sheet; No Parabens, No Phenoxyethanol, No Triethanilamine, No Ethanol. This is recommended for those with dull, rough and unbalanced, irritated, itchy and sun-damaged skin.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

  • The Bio-Cellulose Sheet has protective sheet on both sides of the mask.
  • Remove the protective sheet from one side of the mask.
  • Attach the mask without protective sheet, aligning the eyes, nose and mouth.
  • Remove the protective sheet on the other side.
  • Let the skin absorb the essence for 10-20 minutes.
  • Remove the mask and gently pat the skin to let the remaining essence absorb.

When I took the sheet mask out, I immediately unfold it and it was kind of hard because it's dripping with essences. I thought that was amazing because the juice leftovers can be reused for another session or I can just apply to other parts of my body that needed moisture.

One thing I noticed is that it has 3 layers of sheet masks. I thought that was weird so I remove the first two layers off my face so I can reuse the other two. I also did that because the size of the mask is too big and it doesn't fit well to the contours of my skin. I ran through the description one more time and found out that the real sheet mask is the one in between the two protective films. That's the reason why the mask doesn't feel right on my face as it's kind of rough and irritating. Please don't think I'm stupid. :D Come to think of it, it's the essence that we're after, right? :P

the protective film

the actual sheet mask

The actual mask actually feels like it's made of hydrogel and I like that it adheres to the skin very well. Though the size is still a bit baggy on my face, I was able to move it freely so that every part of my skin gets covered. I like how soft and smooth the mask is and despite the texture, it doesn't tear very easily.

This facial mask has a cooling effect and my skin is instantly refreshed and pampered. The pineapple is okay but could be bothersome to those who have very sensitive sense of smell.

Just like what I have said, this mask is very hydrating so does give off a slightly sticky layer but thankfully, it doesn't clog the pores. This is even better for those with dry skin types. The next day, I woke up with supple, healthy and smooth-looking skin! It also improves the skin's natural glow.

The mask is very innovative and does feel so good on the skin. It's quite expensive for a one-time use product, but is definitely worth it. This is a nice facial skincare that you can count on especially when you are having dry, scaly and dull skin. With regular use, skin is more supple and hydrated.

Derma-C by Poten-Cee Vitamin C + Collagen Brightening Serum Face Mask Review

Derma-C Serum Face Mask
Bought for: P75
Bought from: an online shop

Here's a quick review on a product I got a few weeks ago from Shopee - Derma-C by Poten-Cee Vitamin C + Collagen Brightening Serum Face Mask. Woah, such a long name! This is my third time to use this mask and the first one was when it was made available through Sample Room. I got the mask for free and when I liked it, I searched online on where I can repurchase. I think this product is best use with the Derma-C by Poten-Cee Brightening Soap Bar, but still works nicely on its own.

CLAIMS

Relax and treat your skin to Derma-C Serum Face Mask. It contains Natural Vitamin C, Camu Camu fruit extract and Niacinamide (Vitmain B3) that will help reveal your skin’s natural glow. It is infused with 7 natural oils for an increased moisturizing effect and is also packed with Hydrolyzed collagen and Vitamin E to nourish and hydrate your face, leaving it irresistibly smooth and soft.

Formulated by Korean skincare experts, Derma-C Serum Face Mask is hypoallergenic and has been dermatologically tested for all types of skin.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

  • Cleanse your face.
  • Open the pack and unfold the mask sheet and apply it to your face.
  • Leave for 20 minutes then remove.
  • Massage the remaining essence into the skin until fully absorbed.
  • Use daily for best results.

THE MASK SHEET

As you can tell, the sheet fits my skin well. It's cottony and lightweight so it's very breathable on the skin. It's quite thin so you have to be extra careful when unfolding the mask to avoid tears and stuff alike. One pack has a good amount of essence and you can tell because as I remove the sheet from the pack, it's dripping with essences.

I used to hate facial masks with thick, viscous essences so I appreciate whoever formulated this mask to be thin and easy to absorb (despite the moisturizing oils) so it doesn't irritate people with oily skin problems. The essence dries quickly saving you both time and money - you don't want throwing away sheet mask still dripping wet, do you?

PERFORMANCE

This product is loaded with nutrients so with just 20 minutes, I am delighted to know that I'm taking care of my skin both internally and externally. I know I'm putting the right amount of nutrients it needs to keep it healthy and glowing. With just first use, I noticed that my skin has brightened up real fast and it looks glowing and supple. My skin felt soft and smooth too even after a couple of days after. With regular use, it shall keep and improve the skin's overall glow and texture without clogging the pores.

Overall, this is a great mask sheet that you can and is safe to use on a daily basis. I will repurchase in no time. Let me know what you think about this product by sharing your thoughts down below!

One-Brand Review: Althea Korea A-Bloom Collection

We’ve all predicted that Althea’s going to come up with a new collection sooner or later, but I just can’t believe it’s going to be this early. This blog is even weeks late because hey, the launch was last month (latter part)! I remember reviewing the Milk Peel a month prior and while the experience is still fresh, here’s me about try out something new from the brand. I can’t help but scream in silence because of my excitement!

Anyway, the new collection is called A-Bloom wherein I assume that A is derived from the product’s manufacturer—Althea Korea. The collection consists of four mask sheet variants, a blackhead blaster, and a giant and baby puffs which I am hoping to expand soon. At first, it doesn’t make sense to me how the collection was curated…I mean mask sheet, blackhead blaster, sponges…how are they related apart from the fact that they are makeup and skincare? But with time, I realized that the indifference has its purpose. You’ll know more if you continue reading after the short break! Let’s discuss them one by one.

A-BLOOM MASK SHEETS (P20/PC)

These are probably the cutest and funkiest designed mask sheets I’ve ever seen in my life. I was proud when I bought tons of these during the launch that I gifted them all to my friends and bosses in time for Mother’s Day. I did not even bother wrapping them up as they look too cute as is. I also appreciate the fact that they have English translations—finally, Althea heard my plea!

The names of the masks are well thought of and I like that they reflect their uses and key ingredients. The names remind me of the bottled juices being advertised in LRT stations where the names have meanings. Simple but catchy!

Anti-Blemish Peach Mask Sheet. This anti-blemish mask purifies and soothes irritated and sensitive sin. Infused with Peach Extracts and Tea Tree Oil to regulate oil, balance moisture and purify for soft, smooth skin. This is great for oily skin!

Nourishing Avocado Mask Sheet. This mask is rich in antioxidants to nourish and protect skin from harmful environmental factors and prevent wrinkles. Infused with Avocado extracts and Hibiscus for soft supple skin that glows. It is great for dry skin

Brightening Lemon Lime Mask Sheet. This brightening mask clarifies and brighten dull skin to unveil the natural glow from within. The double does of Vitamin C from lemon and lime extracts banishes dark spots and Green Tea boosts brightening while calming skin. It is great for combination skin.

Moisturizing Watermelon Mask Sheet. This mask that packs a punch of hydration and moisturization for waterful skin that lasts. A delicious drink for the skin with watermelon extract and added lavender to calm the senses.

I’m sure we all know the drill so let’s not delve more into it. Once you tear the packet open, you’ll get the mask sheet and it’s literally dripping of essences. I like that there’s a good amount of essence that you can probably reuse for another session (you’re compressed mask sheets will have their use!) or apply at any drier parts of your body such as elbows, neck, knees and feet. The cloth is thin and breathable but strong enough not to tear even if you accidentally put a little pressure while unfolding it.

The only thing I don’ like (but not much of an issue) is the fact that the sheet mask fits awkwardly all over my face. Though it fits the eyes, nose and mouth area, it doesn’t on the rest of my face. I’m the one to blame because I have chubby face and I guess the shape of the mask will fit to more contoured faces like they always do. Other than that, it adheres to the face until dried.

The masks smell almost the same and even the consistency of the essences is similarly formulated in my opinion. I couldn’t tell which one is better because they are all refreshing on the skin and they also feel lightweight. I don’t find myself dying to rinse the mask afterwards as the moisture is quite tolerable compared to other brands. I’ve used total of eight (8) mask sheets by the time I write this so basically that’s a week and a day-long of trial period. On the first two days of use, I broke out. There were about 3-4 (really) tiny pus-filled bumps on my forehead and sides of the nose. I thought my skin was clogged and irritated, so I thought of discontinuing it and resume after a day or two. Gladly, they disappeared on the fourth day and that’s when everything went right.

My skin feels hydrated and despite the greasy, oily skin upon waking up, my skin seems to light up from within. There’s this glow I couldn’t explain where it came from but overall t’was a nice sight. If you are looking for an affordable everyday mask sheets, go for these. You can’t go wrong with a P20 worth of sheet mask. This is a great hydrator after scrubbing with the Blackhead Blaster.

A-BLOOM BHA BLACKHEAD BLASTER (P200/8G)

This is probably the first time I will be using a product on a stick, well, apart from foundation and lip products. I couldn’t really categorize where this product belongs to, but I’d say it’s a scrub, mask and treatment in one.

According to Althea Korea, this is the 1st Natural BHA Stick that removes blackheads painlessly.  It deeply cleanses and purifies the pores with natural ingredients like White Willow a.k.a. Natural BHA (removes dead skin cells), Charcoal (purifies skin and prevents oil), Apricot Seed (scrubs away impurities and keeps pores clean and tight), and Tea Tree Leaf Oil (that calms and removes trouble skin). Also, its melting texture exfoliates comfortably to reveal soft, clean skin and prevent future formation of blackheads.

I honestly like the matte black plastic packaging because it’s very lightweight and is very convenient to bring during travels. It’s a great pick-me-upper whenever you see new blackheads forming on your pores.

I couldn’t really tell whether I like the balmy texture or if I still prefer the conventional masks that you apply and spread. But convenient stuff has their perks. Products on stick are very easy to clean and store and are mess-free. You just have to swipe it on your skin after cleansing and massage for about a minute before you rinse the product. All it takes is just a minute and you’re good to go! Althea’s really an expert in quick skincare. I think that’s the best thing about this product.

What I notice though is that I must really swipe the balm several times all over my face to get a decent amount of product. This is to say that the product does not go a long way which isn’t a major issue as it’s very budget-friendly that you can just repurchase whenever you run out. I also notice that it would be best if your skin is a little damp before application to avoid tugging. It is indeed a fast way to clean the skin and is gentle enough for an exfoliator.

I would say this product is effective in clearing the pores. About 85% of my blackheads are removed every use. I just don’t think it prevents future formation of blackheads but still worth buying because it’s an affordable, quick and easy fix especially when you have sudden trips or events to attend to. It’s even a better choice than painful peel-off masks, especially if you have low pain tolerance just like me.

Be careful not to let it sit for more than the suggested time because it can be a bit drying. If ever you do, fret not, because the A-Bloom Mask Sheets will come to the rescue! Also, if you are sensitive to BHA products, I would suggest you doing a patch test first to avoid any adverse reactions.

A-BLOOM GIANT MERINGUE PUFF (P100)

I’m excited to try all products under the A-Bloom Collection but I can’t help but be bias when talking about makeup sponges and tools. If you’re a reader of this blog, you know how obsessed I am with makeup tools that I’m starting to build a collection of both low and high-end ones. I’m also currently keeping with me a jar of sponges and puff and these are super nice addition—shaped very uniquely and are tinted pink. They are also fun to work with and until now, I just couldn’t believe why it’s only P100.

When I took the sponges out of their boxes, I noticed some slight damage/dents on the sponge and when I washed them, only then I figured out that I worried for nothing. They retained their shape despite all the squeezing and washing! The sponges double in size when wet and becomes even softer. These are latex-free sponges and true enough, not a trace of rubbery texture.

The shape is indeed unique. They are shorter and has a wider bottom that becomes even wider when wet. That makes it very easy to apply foundation as it covers a large area of the face. My only struggle is holding onto the sponge. I find it awkward to hold the entire sponge, instead of just the half of it, to ensure a precise application. I’d say the shape is not very ergonomic but still does a very good job in blending and is still overall a quality product in terms of the texture and softness. I still think Althea always does a great job in making sure that their product will do what they claim to do despite a few hiccups.

Just to give you an idea how huge this is of a sponge.

A-BLOOM BABY MERINGUE PUFFS (P140)

Here’s a product I think I like a little more! These are the miniature version of the giant puff! It comes in a pack of 3 for only P140. These sponges are great for detail work. Use it on the curves of your faces and harder to reach areas when applying concealer or foundation.

These sponges are not just latex-free but are also free of 5 heavy metals such as Lead, Mercury, Chrome VI, Cadmium and Antimony.

Just like other sponges, you have the option to use it in two ways. For a dewy effect, you can soak the puff in running water or use it dry for a matte coverage. I prefer wet sponges for an airbrush finish. These are worth investing for especially if you are a beginner in the makeup world and you’re still testing the waters and aren’t ready to commit to expensive tools just yet. I’m grateful to Althea for creating such awesome puffs. If ever you’re reading this, I’d like to suggest coming up with a makeup brush/sponge cleanser too as cleaning light-colored sponges’ sometimes a pain. These can stain very easily so what I suggest is to clean it right away as soon as you’re done with your makeup.

So there you have it! Overall, I am still impressed with how Althea Korea keep their products of top quality but still with reasonable price tags. I am so grateful to have gotten the first dibs and if you’re going to ask me whether I’d repurchase or not, I’d definitely will! Phew, that was quite a long post. But thank you so very much for staying until the end! If you would like me to do more one-brand reviews, just let me know! Happy blogging!
