I would start this blog by venting out because our internet connection isn't stable right now. I had to keep on reloading and relaunching my browser just because the connection is very bad. So here's me - admitting that my rest day won't be as productive as I would want.

Anyway, for today, I will be sharing my thoughts on a powder foundation that has been out in the market for quite some time but is still one of the newest products of Maybelline. I purchased Maybelline Fit Me! Skin-Fit Powder Foundation in Warm Nude a few months ago but never had the chance to use as I limit myself to using makeups. When I had the chance to do a play time, I decided to open this one up and I'm really surprised. I feel like I've found my go-to powder foundation!

CLAIMS

Fit Me Powder foundation offers ultra-smooth poreless coverage that blurs pores on the face. It gives you the smoothest-looking skin with the smoothest powder.

Refined micro velvet powder fits perfectly to the skin's texture. No caking, lightweight and with SPF 32 PA+++. Available in 8 skin-fitting shades.

Shades available: Natural Beige, Porcelain, Classic Ivory, Warm Nude, Natural Buff, Pure Beige, Pure Beige, Sun Beige, Toffee.

PACKAGING

Product comes in a black cardboard box which contains a few information about the product such the shade and the benefits. The powder itself is housed in a sleek, black compact packaging with a full-sized mirror. It honestly looks aesthetically pleasing but is not exactly like my ideal kind of packaging. It's not very sturdy in my opinion. It's the kind of plastic that would go easily useless after you accidentally drop it. Also, it can look dirty as it attracts dirt and fingerprints would show up.

This isn't a major issue for me as I make sure to properly store my makeups in a way that they won't be disturbed. Also, I don't bring them with me often so. Still, I'd prefer the square type compact powders because it takes lesser space and is more ergonomic.

The product comes with a mini sponge. I don't really like this type of sponges to apply powder foundations as I prefer buffer brushes. I still keep them though because you reuse them as disposable sponges when doing someone else's makeup. Spare sponges like this can be used for baking too or removing excess makeup. So there - don't just simply throw out sponges!

TEXTURE AND EASE OF APPLICATION

It's true - this powder has a very refined texture so it would fit you whether you have smooth or textured skin type. The powder pigments is super fine that it fills out the pores making it look poreless and smooth. At first, I thought it's probably a reformulation of the old Maybelline Matte+Poreless Powder but it's actually way different. This is probably 5x more lightweight and it offers a very sheer coverage. It's very easy to blend and it doesn't crease or move around and it doesn't disturb makeup underneath.

COVERAGE AND LONGEVITY

As I have mentioned, coverage is sheer but it's still able to blur the pores and imperfections making you look fresh all day. Powder stays for a good 4 hours on my skin before I become in need of a retouch. I have a very oily skin so 4 hours is already an achievement for me. This product oxidize very little so that's a good thing. Since coverage is not very good (and if you are after it), I would suggest to use a liquid foundation underneath and the good thing is, it works well with anything I put on. I've tried almost all of my liquid foundations in my stash together with this Skin-fit and I'm amazed at how it's able to mattify the skin and make my base look even more flawless.

OVERALL PERFORMANCE

If you are looking for a powder foundation that would give you a very natural finish, look no further. This powder will definitely give you that 'skin but better' finish. It would fill in the pores without going overboard. This is even perfect for the kind of weather we have here in the Philippines. I, myself, doesn't really need heavy makeup so this is my preference. It's non-sticky and non-irritating. This is perfect to use on a daily basis especially it has a decent amount of SPF. Despite that, it doesn't look like it's giving me much flashback on photos. Also, it doesn't look too flat matte so your skin's natural glow will still show up.

Since it has a total of only 8 shades, those who have darker skin tones won't be able to find their exact match. That's the only thing I find off-putting. And I think that's it. You can never go wrong with a powder foundation worth P349 which usually go on sale from time to time. Let me know what you think of this product by sharing your comment down below! Fit Me® Shine-Free Stick Foundation face makeup. Oil-absorbing powder foundation stick delivers a natural matte finish for smooth and even-looking skin. This lightweight gel foundation has an exclusive anti-shine powder core that instantly dissolves excess oil. Pores look minimized and skin stays shine-free for ten hours. This oil-absorbing foundation stick goes on creamy and blends into a natural matte finish.

If I am to choose between skincare and makeup, I'd still find myself being more cautious with skincare because I am prone to skin problems. On days I like to just play around with makeup, I would usually opt for a natural look for my base which is why I am so happy I have tried this foundation from Maybelline, the Fit Me Shine-Free Stick Foundation. This isn't exactly new in the market and I have been using this product for months already but it so happened that I realize it's worth doing a review on.

PACKAGING

I know you'll agree when I say that the packaging is quite very compact. It comes in a retractable-type of tube that's a little stouter than bullet-type lipsticks. It displays information about the product which I fail to take a visual of because the fonts are too tiny for my phone to capture. Sorry I couldn't afford a proper camera lens as of the moment lol. I heard they are even more expensive than the body? Ouch. Anyway, bear with me for the meantime. :D

SHADE RANGE

Shade range is not so impressive. In Maybelline's website, there are 8 saturated shades being sold which, frankly-speaking, I have no idea whether it's updated or not. I am just lucky to find a perfect match for my skin tone. I got the 220 Natural Beige which has a warm undertone and matches my skin tone. It disappears onto my skin as I put it on. Normally, I'm getting 128 Warm Nude in Fit Me Matte which is but fine because the foundation oxides. Now I'm thinking of buying the 220 Natural Beige next time as well.

TEXTURE AND EASE OF APPLICATION

There are stick foundations which I find too hard but Maybelline Fit Me Shine-Free Stick Foundation is really creamy and soft. It doesn't accentuate dryness or settles on fine lines too. It has this tendency to melt on the skin upon application and it's very easy to blend with about any applicator you wish to use it with. I find that it works better with a buffing brush though. I like using it with REAL TECHNIQUES EXPERT FACE BRUSH for a better and seamless finish.

The product is designed to have the anti-shine powder core that helps tame oils. And it affects the overall finish of the product. The outer core is purely foundation. It doesn't set or dry quite easy upon application so you'll get extra time to blend it out. It does not completely dry matte or shine-free but it doesn't look overly dewy at all which made me say that it'd prolly fit any skin type. It's also very lightweight and breathable so your skin won't warm up very easily.

COVERAGE AND LONGEVITY

The first time I use this, I had to apply several layers because the shade looks exactly like my skin.and it seems like I haven't applied anything at all. On the other side, I think this may be a good thing because it doesn't build up or look cakey at all. I eventually realized though that it's probably because I am not satisfied with the finish. Coverage is not very impressive so if you have a lot of blemishes like me, you'll need a good concealer to partner it with. This is like a minor complaint because I still prefer my natural skin peeking through despite the makeup.

Longevity-wise, it stays put for a good 6 hours though I have to inject touch-ups every now and then to get rid of shine. My skin is extremely oily and this foundation does not completely soak up oils. I didn't get my hopes up with the 'shine-free' claim because I know my skin pretty well.

OVERALL THOUGHTS

I honestly loved the finish of MAYBELLINE FIT ME MATTE PORELESS FOUNDATION so long as my skin is in its best state (you know, balanced and clear) and this is another Maybelline's product that works in my opinion. This product did clog my pores and it does look and feel natural on the skin so it made me thin...which else is better to use than this foundation in this kind of weather we have here in the Philippines? This product is truly promising and I couldn't wait to repurchase. It's got an awesome price tag of P399 which you can even score for half off during sale season!

Love and Hate Relationship With Maybelline Superstay 24H Full Coverage Foundation (Review + Swatches)

I am a foundation junkie and if there's a new drugstore foundation, I'd love to try it provided that it's budget-friendly of course. I loved the Maybelline Superstay Better Skin Foundation which is  a way way old foundation and correct me if I'm mistaken, has already been discontinued to pave way for this new foundation that bears the name Superstay. That saddens me but oh well, it gives us something to road test and criticize. I hate to spill the beans but I liked the Fit Me and Better Skin variants more.

SHADE

I bought the shade 128 Warm Nude as it's my match in Fit Me. It appears kind of warmer and darker but looks quite just fine when applied. According to Maybelline website, it comes in 24 saturated shades for us to choose from.

TEXTURE, COVERAGE AND EASE OF APPLICATION

The foundation has a thin consistency yet isn't very runny. It blends well whether you use a damp sponge or brush though I find that using a brush gives it more coverage. I like that it sets very easily with just a few dabs or swipes without emphasizing dryness or being streaky or cakey at all. It just looks flawless and it seems to smoothen out my over-sized pores and hides redness and veins without the need of a concealer. Coverage wise, this foundation does great (about medium-full). It smells like typical foundations and which I have nothing against with.

LONGEVITY

The 24-hour wear was kind of exaggerating because who would wear foundation for 24 hours? Er, not me. But anyway, given that it claims to wear for a day meaning we should expect it to look good the entire day, right? That's not the case. It applies so beautifully, to be honest, but doesn't stay exactly the same the whole day, not even for 12 hours. Sure, it will still show I have foundation on but everything else has faded--blush, shadow, everything. Also, I noticed that the foundation has sunken on my entire nose area faster than the rest of my face--nothing new as that's where I'm the oiliest.

The foundation and coverage is still there after about 7-8 hours except it has oxidized. Not the worst in all the foundations that oxidize but still one of those. To improve longevity, you may want to set it with a matte powder and make sure you have a primer underneath.

OVERALL THOUGHTS

This foundation is still worth your money and the flawless coverage and finish are unbeatable. I like that it feels so lightweight on the skin, photographs nicely, does not move around and I appreciate that it's oil-free and has a matte finish. Just what my oily skin needs. But how ironic, I kept blotting away oils every now and then. There's just something about it that makes my skin so oily. Other than that, this foundation didn't cause me to breakout so that's something. I just think I'd rather reach for it during colder months when my skin is more balanced (so we can keep oxidation and oiliness more under control!)

We are all familiar with Maybelline Dream Velvet Foundations that I am so aware that when it was first launched, bunch and bunch of this foundation were sold right away for the first few months. I even had to force myself to settle for a wrong foundation shade back then just to be able to snag one. I wasn't able to use it because I figured out the shade was something I can't really wear for the indifference to skintone was just so obvious. As a result, I sold it away.

Just last December of 2017, I was able to snatch one in shade 05 Sandy Beige which is the closest for my skin tone. T'was for fair skinned gals with warm undertones. Maybelline Dream Velvet Foundations has limited shades so I'm quite lucky that I can consider one among the shade range it offers. Spoiler alert: this foundation didn't work much for me.

Claims

Dream Velvet™ Foundation. Maybelline's first soft-matte hydrating foundation: no drying, no roughness. Feels fresh as it covers. This foundation hydrates skin for 12 hours and delivers a soft matte finish for velvet-smooth perfection. No drying or roughness. Ideal for normal to combination skin.

Packaging

The product comes in a sturdy plastic tube packaging that aside from being so thin and travel-friendly, it's also very hygienic to use. It comes sealed with an aluminum foil and being in a tube-type packaging, you can easily control the amount you want to use. It also displays necessary information about the product itself: claims, directions for use, ingredients and manufacturing date.

Scent

It has a typical chemical foundation scent but it's quite subtle so it does not bother me very much.

Texture and Ease of Application

This product comes in a mousse formula that a little goes a long way. I normally would squeeze a pea-sized amount of the foundation on my skin but I notice that I can only use just half of it which is quite nice as it offers a good value for money. I know a single tube with 30ml of product inside would last a long time.

I have tried using this foundation using a stippling brush and a damp sponge and I notice that it offers better coverage using the latter. It sets easily once blended but tends to look a bit streaky so I think you better watch out for that. Take this as a warning, but don't over apply as it tends to look cakey. If you don't have oily skin like mine, since it sets soft matte, I think you can already get away with only your foundation and a nice setting spray.

Coverage, Longevity and Performance

A small amount gives a medium coverage. I have several blemishes due to breakouts and the foundation seems to blur them a bit though they are still peeking through. I like it though so my skin can still breathe. Additional layer could provide a full coverage which I really don't opt for 'cause it looks awfully cakey and unnatural. The first time I use this with two layers on, I had to wash off after 4 hours for it doesn't look quite nice. Combined with oils, my foundation looks like it was floating. I gave it another try with using only a sheer layer and it looked a bit better but still turns cakey a few hours later (4 hours). 

Not only that, but the foundation seem to move and settles on my dry patches. I have oily skin with some dry patches due to the skin care that I'm currently using to dry my pimples. This is safe to say that the foundation isn't very long-lasting and is non transfer-proof. I could clearly see the foundation marks on my fingers whenever I touch a part of my face and no setting powder seem to help it stay put. Even though this foundation dries matte, my face just becomes so oily after. I have to complain because much of my time I'm wearing it in an air conditioned room!

I won't let a single foundation ruin my love for Maybelline products and I'm still looking forward to the best things about this foundation. For one, I'm quite surprised that this foundation does not oxidize on me. Even with all the commute and Philippine heat and humidity, this survive on my skin for a good 8 hours without turning shades darker and with constant blotting every now and then of course. It does not turn orange-y on me like some other foundations would. Though it clings on dry patches, it would still be able to make my skin look more even-toned and it doesn't feel sticky and uncomfortable on the skin even when I oil up pretty bad.

Overall Thoughts

I have tried this foundation with a bit of a tweak in tools and makeup products I use it with approximately 4 times now. I tried changing either the primer or the setting powder but nothing seem to make it blend seamlessly on my skin. I couldn't agree more that skin condition plays a huge part in your overall look whether you put makeup on or not. I believe my skin isn't in its best condition right now so it must have something to do with it. Still, why I opt for makeups is because they are supposed to enhance the skin, not enhance all the imperfections it currently shows. This foundation just does that. I will give this foundation another try when my skin heals and let's see. I'll update you on that. For now, I won't be a hypocrite saying I like this foundation and it's perfect for beginners. I didn't like it, to be honest but I'm willing to give this another try after all, it didn't clog my pores or break me out.

I'm becoming quite proud of myself for scoring deals online lol. Take this for example, instead of spending P400 something on Maybelline Fit Me Matte Poreless Foundation, I got it for only P230! All you need is patience and good shopping skills lol. Anyway, today's spotlight will be on this another cult-fave drugstore foundation. I know there's a lot of reviews posted already, but let me still share to you all the good and bad things I can think of when I hear this popular foundation.

Claims

Fit Me® Matte + Poreless Foundation face makeup. This lightweight foundation mattifies and refines pores and leaves a natural, seamless finish. Ideal for normal to oily skin, our exclusive matte foundation formula features micro-powders to control shine and blur pores. Pore minimizing foundation. Dermatologist tested. Allergy tested. Non-comedogenic.

Packaging

I really like foundations in bottles because they look better when displayed, however, one thing that really disappoints me with this packaging is that it's quite messy to apply since it does not have a pump. The foundation tends to glide on the crater so I always end up wiping away excess products both on the cap and bottle. I wish it came with a pump so it's more convenient and hygienic to use. However, I appreciate that this foundation displays all necessary information on its body.

Shade

Maybelline Fit Me Matte Poreless Foundation comes in 40 shades now when originally, there are only 29. It's good to know that they expanded the shade selection to cater to all skin tones. You'll most likely get your perfect fit with this extensive selection! I got the Warm Nude shade because this is the shade that appears when I did the Maybelline Foundation Shade Finder. Yes, I did rely on that for the reason that I suck at finding my perfect shade most of the time. Turns out, Warm Nude, which is way darker than my skin tone, blends on my face just the right way when applied with a lighter shade of powder.

Texture / Ease of Application

The product is quite runny compared to other foundations that I have. However, it means that this is lightweight on the skin--which is what I need since my face is really oily. Also, this foundation blends with ease using a sponge as long as you blend it right away. The formula dries real quick, giving a powder finish, so blend it as fast as you can. I am telling you that this foundation gives off a flat matte finish so patchiness is more likely to occur. What I advise is you use a damp sponge to keep the product blend-able until you're all set.

Since this foundation gives a matte finish, it can accentuate dry areas and fine lines of the face so I don't recommend it to those with dry skin. Maybelline has the Dewy and Smooth variant is more suitable for those with dry skin that needs hydration.

Pigmentation / Coverage

I intentionally swatch the foundation on my wrist where veins are obvious to check the coverage and pigmentation. I use more than enough amount on a small area of my skin and this is to say that this foundation has a sheer coverage. It does not completely hide my blemishes and pimple scars which is but fine with me, I would still prefer wearing this on a normal day to day basis to sport a natural look. I don't want people thinking, "sometimes she's flawless, other times she's not." If you know what I mean lol.

The foundation does not set in completely. It looks like it's floating on my face which is why I don't prefer putting another layer of this foundation on my skin, otherwise, I'd look ghostly pale and unnatural. However, I like that it is able to make my skin look more even out and shine-free.

Longevity

To be honest, this product didn't last long on my oily skin. I noticed that it also oxidized and seem like it's completely gone after 5-6 hours. I know that a good setting powder already helped a lot yet, still, it didn't last long.

Performance

Since Maybelline Fit Me Matte Poreless Foundation give off a powder finish, I prefer using it everyday when I am just going to work or running simple errands. However, it won't be my go-to foundation when I'll be going to special events or days when I will be out for more than work hours. I like that it did not break me out, blends well on my skin tone and controls oil and reduces the appearance of pores but my skin looks like it runs out of all its hydration so moisturizer underneath is necessary. Overall, this is still an efficient foundation that's reasonably priced. What about you? I'd love to hear your comments about it!

DIRECTION FOR USE

Step 1. Apply dark shade along the jawline and hallows of the cheeks and blend well.

Step 2. Apply light shade to the high points of the face, like the tops of cheeks and bridge of nose, and blend well.

Contouring is a makeup skill I am currently working hard on. I bought them in powder, liquid and cream forms before but I was barely introduced to the right shades so I ended up throwing them away or giving them out to anyone who have the skin tones that matched the shades that I have. A few months ago, I purchased another contouring product in my attempt to have a slimmer and contoured face. I have round face, chubby cheeks and high hair line and by the sound of it, maybe you're thinking contouring products should be a necessity for me. Tell me about it!!! For now, here's a brief review of Maybelline Master Contour V-Shape Duo Stick.

PACKAGING

The product comes in a retractable stick with contour on one side and highlight on the other. The packaging was, overall, pretty nice, convenient to bring anywhere and so easy to use.

SHADE

The shade that I have is in 015 Medium Moyen. the contour is pretty much my shade but the highlight appears a little awkward on my skin. It does look funny because it's peachy on me, hence, the fake look. Now, I'm wondering if it's really possible that I buy a certain contour kit, for example, and then the other side would complement my skin tone and the other just wouldn't even if they are supposed to be used together. Ugh, I'm confused.

TEXTURE / CONSISTENCY / EASE OF APPLICATION

The contour and highlight both applies easily with its soft and creamy texture. It also has a lightweight formulation and is non-greasy. The worst thing, though, is the blending part because the product won't blend easily on skin even with the use of a damp sponge. By the moment I get rid of the harsh lines on the side of my nose, cheeks and jaw, all pigmentation seemed to wear off. I tried using it over almost any type of foundation whether they are matte or luminous just in case I am missing anything but to no avail. I keep on having a hard time blending the product into my skin.

SCENT

This product has a mild to barely-there scent so no worries for scent-sensitives out there.

PERFORMANCE

I feel like I really have to point out that this product is so hard to blend on skin--both the highlight and the contour part and it's just too tough to work in. The highlighter even emphasizes creases and folds so uh-uh. The pigmentation were not that great either and it does not last long on my super oily face. If you really want to achieve a nice depth or a slimmer face, you might want to opt for powder contours because I find them more pigmented and long-wearing.

OVERALL THOUGHTS

With better contour kits I have, I definitely don't see myself reaching for this anytime soon. I do not recommend it either even if you are new to the concept of highlighting and contouring as there are much affordable drugstore contour kits that performs better and gives skin better illusion. The price point was kind of too high for this as well and it's kind of disappointing.

I remember back in high school that my favorite piece of makeup was mascara. I have those cheap brand-less mascaras to drugstore ones just because they are so easy to wear and looks natural. In my school, we were not allowed to wear any makeup or nail polish and the only thing that could always pass unnoticed at the guard house were my lashes with mascara on. It's not like they would approach me and look down to my eyes.

When I go to college, people dressed more properly and I thought I should do the same. I always made sure to go to school with few swipes of my lip balm or lip tint and mascara and it seems like there's already so much difference on how I look. Up until now, I still repurchase different brands and variants of mascara, slightly going a little higher in price. Now, I am trying out Maybelline Great Lash Mascara in Big and Curved brushes.

I have to be honest that in terms of product formulation, there's not much difference on consistency, scent and shade. The only differences were the cap color (apple green for the 'big' and pink for the 'curved'), the shape of the applicator (the brush of the 'big' is like typical mascara applicators but larger in size while the 'curved' has, of course, curved brush which is perfect for the shape of the eyes), and the amount of the product that can be applied on the lashes for a period of time. I would say that the Maybelline Great Lash Mascara with the big brush apply more product than the curved one. This is very much expected though.

I like the packaging really. What stands out to me most is the fun and playful colors Maybelline uses for these products. Don't you find it cute as well? Also, the labels does not erases easily too.

These product claims to lengthen and volumize the lashes which I think is true. Let the photo down below speak for itself. My left lashes has mascara on, while the right is bare. My lashes were of medium length but the mascaras were able to lengthen it with only a few strokes. I like combining these two. I use the 'curved' one as my base mascara because it reaches hard to reach lashes on the corners near my tear duct. It is so easy to stroke upwards as it fits the shape of my eyes and dries easily. I use the 'big', however, to add more volume to my lashes and separate the hair for a fuller and more natural look. I tend to develop clumps whenever I use the 'curved' but the 'big' one somehow separates them.

Like most of the affordable mascaras I used before, this flakes and smudge on me after 8-10 hours. I don't know how it happened but the formula transfers on my bags at the end of the day or after I perspire so much even without me rubbing or touching my lashes. However, since this is not water-proof, the mascara can be removed easily with soap and water or eye makeup remover.

Overall, I think Maybelline Great Lash Mascara is such a nice drugstore find. It is affordable, does not irritate the eyes and product does not dry out too fast (just be sure to always keep the product close to prevent air from entering.) That's all for today. Happy blogging!
