It's December! Can you feel the spirit of Christmas? I do, I do! Anyway, that means I only have one a month left to post a few blogs on my long queue of to-review products to conclude how much I've been active this 2017. This time, I will be sharing with you this newest addition to Gluta-C products (one of the best whitening drugstore brands for me) and is called Gluta-C Shower Salt Scrub with Kojic Plus Whitening System!

Well, to be honest, I've gotten rid of my fair skin tone a long time ago (I think I'm more between morena and fair right now, if there's such thing lol), and right now, I don't have the intention of making it the way it was before. In fact, I had to make a total foundation stash makeover because they no longer suit my complexion but I'm perfectly fine with it for my goal right now is not whiter, rather a healthier and more even skin tone. Spoiler alert: It lives up to my expectations!

Claims as per Sampleroom

Gluta-C Kojic Plus+ Shower Salt Scrub has 4x skin whitening action that combines the power of Glutathione, Vitamin C, Kojic Acid, and Azelaoyl Diglycinate for a more holistic skin whitening regimen. It gently yet effectively exfoliates to remove dead skin cells without causing dryness for that younger smoother skin and provides a cooling scent for a refreshed feeling. It has 3x more anti-oxidants that help reduce toxins and has moisturizing properties to help reduce dryness.

Packaging

Housed in a bulky plastic tub, this product displays all necessary information about it including claims, ingredients, directions and manufacturing date. It comes in an overall very simple packaging and has their signature orange color for the cap. Once opened, you'll see an inner lid to prevent leakage while it's still brand new. According to the product, it has 20g of product inside which I'm not really sure if it really comes out to that amount since when I did open the lid, I find that it was only half full. The idea that it was due to spillage or evaporation is a bit preposterous because it was perfectly sealed when I received it.

Texture, Consistency and Ease of Application

Comes in an orange color (what do we expect for kojic-infused products, right?), this product has a cool citrus scent that is relaxing to the senses. Unlike most other salt scrub, this product has salt as its main component but is uniquely soaked in a solution which I believe carries all the whitening actives. The salt are like sediments that settles at the bottom if unused so you really have to mix it with a mixing tool every usage so it would fairly distribute. It is also a bit messy to apply because of the runny consistency of the formula. Good thing, it doesn't stain the bathroom.

While I find most salt scrubs a bit abrasive on the skin, this one from Gluta-C seems to be more skin-friendly and gentler with the help of the silky solution that seems to create a soft barrier between the skin and salt to minimize its abrasiveness. It also rinses well and easily while leaving that soft and silky touch on the skin which is an absolutely good feeling!

Performance

While salt itself is already effective in exfoliating the skin and getting rid of dead skin cells, the combination of Glutathione, Vitamin C, Kojic Acid, and Azelaoyl Diglycinate is very helpful in bringing out that glow on your skin. I don't pretend I know the science behind Glutathione and how its effects vary whether it's taken orally or externally but since it comes in very small amount in this product, I don't think that's enough to see a significant change in skin complexion even after finishing the whole tub. Even Kojic Acid comes in very small amount as well which is but fine because I really find this a good product to begin with.

The Gluta-C Shower Salt Scrub gently exfoliates the skin without being too stripping. Combined with a good amount of Glycerin, it's enough to give me that hydrated, soft and smooth skin that looks healthy and polished every after use. It has been a go-to bath product when I'm too stressed out 'cause the cooling sensation instantly boost energy and calms the senses. Although it does not give me a dramatic effect in terms of whitening, I know I can depend on this product whenever I'd like to buff away the roughness and dullness of my skin.

Overall Thoughts

If you are a huge fan of exfoliators in scrub form just like me, I highly suggest that you give Gluta-C Shower Salt Scrub a try. It's fairly priced at only P164.75 at all leading drugstores nationwide and you can enjoy a big tub which you can use for more than a month since you only need it probably 2-3 times a week. It's also mild on the skin, I even tried it on my face just to check and there's no tingling sensation that happened! Although, since salt scrubs are still abrasive on its own, I suggest that those with sensitive skin may opt for a patch test first before fully plunging in to the salt scrub craze.
