When it comes to face scrubs, nothing beats my favorite St. Ives products (to date) because they have varieties of star ingredients as well as exfoliation factors depends on my preference--whether I like those that have gentler beads or the ones that are more abrasive. They have the Apricot Fresh Skin Scrub, Blemish Control Apricot Scrub, Pink Lemon and Mandarin Orange Scrub and Green Tea Blackhead Clearing Scrub and I have already tried everything except the last one . I'm not bragging lol, but that's just how I love their products to the point that I became obsessed to making sure I'm never gonna miss not a single scrub from their skin care line. This time, I made sure to purchase another variant (after I've emptied the last tube I got) and its the St. Ives Nourished and Smooth Oatmeal Scrub + Mask. I bought this from Lazada the last time it went on sale. I bought this full-sized tube for only P129 + free shipping. Woohoo!
I have been looking for this particular variant before in Watsons and other leading department stores but I guess, only Lazada has it here in the Philippines. Either it gets sold out fast or it's not really sold in the Philippine market.
PACKAGING
I have said it a hundred times already but, yes, I like products in a squeezable tube container with a flip cap because I find it easier to dispense and store products as well as to bring anywhere since it does not break or what. The packaging is very informative too for it displays every necessary information about the product itself.
TEXTURE / CONSISTENCY / EASE OF APPLICATION
Unlike other St. Ives Scrubs, this one has a different consistency--a little bit runny, creamy, bouncy and smooth. I've figured out that almost every masks I have tried that are honey-infused has a bouncy-like texture lol. A little goes a long way as well. The beads are just like what the product says--they are lesser abrasive and smaller compared to other St. Ives Scrubs and has a gentler exfoliating factor. I have read somewhere that powdered walnut shells are abrasive and can cause microscopic scrapes on skin but the scrubs seemed more refined and effectively buffs away roughness the gentle way.
I did not see anything spectacular with this if used as a mask because I prefer those with cooling effect or at least something that feels refreshing when left on. Therefore, even though I do not like considering this to be my go-to mask, it just do the job because it's a 2 in 1 product. Every time I'm using it as a scrub, I'm also maximizing the benefits for it also acts as a mask. It dries fast though so I can easily wash it off.
SCENT
The product smells like cocoa butter but not the yummy kind unlike the fragrance on soaps. For me, it's neither fragrant nor awful.
PERFORMANCE
I like the gentle exfoliating factor so much and the fact that the particles are so gentle on my skin. Smoother, softer and visibly brighter complexion will be evident after every use. It also effectively gets rid of bumps and breakout overtime but you have to have a good moisturizer for it dries the skin big time. I would suggest not to overuse this product if you have drier skin type. I, myself, have super oily skin but ends up with a taut feeling after using this so consider this as a sign that those with dry skin should be extra careful. However, I feel like my skin is super clean whenever I am using this so I'm always excited to have 2-3 sesh of it every week.
If you are looking for a budget-friendly product with promising benefits, you might want to try St. Ives Nourished and Smooth Oatmeal Scrub + Mask. It is so affordable and does the trick without irritating the skin or causing breakouts to flare up with its 100% cruelty-free tag! It's another one of St. Ives products that I will proudly recommend to everyone especially to those who have similar skin types to mine!
Have you tried St. Ives Nourished and Smooth Oatmeal Scrub + Mask? Any thoughts? Happy blogging!
