I cannot simply turn my back to makeups I have been hearing good stuff about, much less affordable in price. I have been so broke due to recent film productions, thesis and whatnot at school and I know I should conserve moolah but I just cannot deprived myself of things that somehow help me keep going. To make long story short, yes, I have striven to afford getting myself a new pressed powder for my oily skin (especially now that I am feeling the warm season) and which is Rimmel London Stay Matte Long-Lasting Pressed Powder in the shade, 005 Silky Beige. I wanted to get the Transparent one because we all know how they usually work--give no color payoff, just set the makeup and keep it last longer. However, it runs sold so I had to check online what shade best suit me and settled to Silky Beige instead. Frankly speaking, like I always do, I think I got the wrong shade. How unlucky.

The pressed powder comes in a simple compact with detached cover made of plastic. Some might not disapprove of it because according to them, the packaging tends to develop fissures on the plastic easily especially when you accidentally drop it. I didn't experience this even after mishandling the pressed powder for more than three times already. I'm getting a good impression on the powder itself too because it didn't break when it fell several inches from my heaps of makeup down to the floor. Buti pa siya strong. Lol. However, don't expect it would not break or crack when you stock it on your loaded makeup pouch. I could only suggest you to be extra careful when you want to bring this to your travels.

As you notice, it has that engraved Rimmel design which kinda looks cute for me. It also does not have any off-putting scent which is another point. The powder itself is tinted so I expect it would make my foundation looks cakey and white but it does not. It instead blends so easily on my skin without looking patchy and flat. It also does not settle on fine lines or impart white cast especially on flash photography. Also, I'm pretty sure it's worth the money because you get to save if it has no fallouts. Seriously, I have never used a pressed powder before that allows my brush to pick up powder without excessive fall outs.

Just like what I have said, I bought this to have something new to set my makeup which I did in my whole test duration. One thing I do not like about it is that it does not control oil up to five hours, it does not control oil at all. If you know me, you understand that my skin is characterized with large pores and is very oily. I hate to say this but I think it does not answer my oily skin problem. I tried using it over my liquid foundation and it feels tacky. I gave it another chance by using this alone one lazy day and my skin did not at all get matte for hours. I did not achieve that shine-free claim. Once I set my skin with this, I know I have something on.

So you see, have a love-hate relationship with this powder. A lot of people claim to have shine-free skin for hours while using this so I was really confused why I didn't get the same thing. Oh well, we really react differently to different things. Though it didn't work in that keeping-oil-at-bay department, I still like how it adjusts its tone to match my complexion and makes it look fresh and natural. It also does not look ghostly on me. I think even those with dry and sensitive skin can use this as it did not break me out.

What else? It's affordable and you have shades to choose from. I will not persuade you to either get one for yourself or forget about it because I'm just one of the few who said something unlikely to it. But please do let me know after you decided! Take care, everyone! Happy blogging!
