With the summer heat,  I couldn't help but skip too many steps in my skincare and makeup routine. My oily skin just can't handle all the formula and humidity so I (most of the time) resort to just the basic steps. After skincare, as much as I'd love to do my base and color correct, I just top everything off with a mattifying powder so at least I'd look ever-so-slightly fresh. In this kind of weather, a blurring/tinted powder comes very, very useful as it both enhances the skin's texture and prevents shine. It's when I start using Innisfree No-Sebum Blur Powder which is where our spotlight would be for today.

CLAIMS

Innisfree No-Sebum Blur Powder has pore blur effect that covers skin bumps . It makes the skin texture smooth and bright as if giving a blur effect, covering skin bumps caused by pores and fine wrinkles.  Offers durability of long-lasting softness. Natural minerals and mint ingredients from Jeju work to control the oil and moisture balance of the skin and make it more healthy. It has a natural beige color that fits the skin. It allows for the skin texture to appear healthy and feeling smooth by providing a look for natural makeup with natural beige color pigments that are suited for any type of skin.

HOW TO USE

I am pretty sure you all know the drill. Tap lightly on the face as the last step of makeup. Feel free to use whenever the skin becomes greasy.

PACKAGING

The product comes in a tiny jar with a twist cap. The packaging looks very simple but has an impact as the plastic is thick and durable and is perfect for travelling. It's very similar to the popular No-Sebum Mineral Powder with only slight differences in color and texture. I loved the mineral variant that I forgot how many times I did repurchase so it must be the reason why there's not much persuasion in my part in buying the Blur one. Both of them has this seal that is a bit of a pain to remove. They also come with a white-colored puff that is very plush and won't irritate the skin at all.

The only issue I probably have with this type of packaging is the fact that it's very hard to dispense the product with the size of the filter. No matter how hard I tap, the powder won't come off in decent amount. It must be the powder's texture as they are quite clumpy. It's very inconvenient to use because imagine me having to remove the plastic filter over and over so I can just tap my brush straight to the powder. I always end up picking a little too much pigment and is very wasteful because the powders just has the tendency to go all over the place. If you have an empty, bigger cosmetic sifter, you might want to transfer if you are using it mainly to set your makeup.

SCENT, TEXTURE AND EASE OF APPLICATION

The product has a subtle mint scent so I don't think you'll find it off-putting. It's tinted and is beige in color so I think it will serve most skin complexions. The powders are velvety soft and they seem to melt on your skin once applied. They may look clumpy from where they are but once you press on them, you'll know they are finely-milled.

OVERALL PERFORMANCE

I like the fact that the powder's blurring effect is really significant upon application though not very long lasting. The mattifying power goes away after 1-2 hours and I feel like I needed to apply some more. To be fair though, I have super oily skin and retouch is something I always needed to keep shine at bay. The good thing is that it's able to keep me looking fresh after every application. Because it's tinted, it gives less white cast too compared to the mineral variant and other translucent powders. It's also able to give skin a brightened and more even appearance without the powdery look. I'm very particular with powders and I make sure to only use the ones that will not clog my pores. This is one of those powders that didn't cause me to breakout even if it takes me lots of retouch the whole day.

Honestly speaking, P477 is quite too expensive for a powder with only 5g of amount and it's usually more than what I would normally spend on a basic setting powder. I'd still give it a shot though because a little goes a long way and it's a nice setting powder to apply as is or on top of your makeup to make sure everything stays in place. Nothing very special but still useful.

If you are looking for a more reliable blur powders, better spend a little more for Coty Airspun, Laura Mercier or Ben Nye.

I didn't know Pond's creates face powders too until their BB Magic Powder became so trendy online. I haven't tried that one out yet but I'm hoping I'll get to. Anyway, I also figured out they came in two other variants--Natural Mattifying and Pinkish White Glow.

Most likely, we don't know these exists before because these are manufactured by Pond's in Thailand. I'm glad there are online sellers who has the capability of getting suppliers from such country.

PACKAGING

Both powders come in standard type of face powder packaging--has a twist cap and a sifter. Very limited information is displayed in both Thai and English languages and I appreciate that Thailand made these products for universal use too. These powders don't seem like they are for professional use so I would love if they could put some effort in distributing the product in loose powder containers instead. That way it would be easier to apply it with a setting or powder brush instead of using the hands. Which reminds me of getting empty loose powder containers the next time I go shopping online!

POND'S ANGEL FACE NATURAL MATTIFYING POWDER

The natural mattifying variant comes in tinted blue powders and has a very fine texture and very smooth to apply. Don't fret because it doesn't change the color of your skin in anyway. It's heavily-fragranced, something which reminds me of classic powders. I really like the scent despite perfume being in the middle part of the ingredient list. (That means the amount of perfume might be quite huge in quantity!)

Because perfume is present, I was so afraid of using this everyday since I always have bad cases of breakouts if I am to use heavily-scented products. Turns out, this remains in my makeup purse!

POND'S ANGEL FACE PINKISH WHITE GLOW POWDER

I don't see much difference in terms of texture, application, scent and packaging. The Pinkish White Glow variant mirrors what the Natural Mattifying variant can do except the powders are tinted light pink. Both have brightening effects and settle on the skin without adding any color and coverage on top of makeups. Also, they make foundation looks so flawless and smooth. This is safe to say that both variants are good translucent setting powders that's on the affordable side.

My skin is super oily so I never run out of translucent powders. What I love about this is the finely-milled texture of the product and how lightweight and smooth they are to apply. Unlike other face powders, these aren't so drying on the skin nor tends to emphasize any occurring flakiness.

It instantly mattifies my oily skin and absorbs too much oil for about only 2 hours. You will really need to retouch every now and then which I don't think anyone with oily skin would mind as these are so affordable. They aren't just accessible as I would love them to be. I hope local supermarkets would sell these soon!

These products claim to possess double sun protection which I don't really trust considering that I only need small amount for every use. A need for sunscreen lotions might be necessary but a little added sun protection won't hurt.

Overall, I think these are good substitutes for expensive translucent setting powders since I love its effect on the skin. The unique colors of the powder also works in balancing the shade of the skin and making skin look so radiant and glowing! I just hope that Pond's can tame down the perfume amount and make it accessible for everyone.

I can't decide which one is better as I love the effect of both, almost similar. Sometimes, I combine them whenever I'm doing my makeup. If I don't have the luxury of time, I just get whatever my fingers can reach first. Apply it as is or on top of makeup and expect a matte, glowing complexion without spending a fortune!

I'm a powder girl. I guess being born with the oiliest skin you can ever imagine, it's pretty much normal for me. Whether it is cream, loose or pressed, consider me a huge sucker of anything powdery finish. Today, here's another review to a pressed powder which I am currently loving, no other than Naturactor Pressed Powder. Mine's in the shade 441.

We all know that Naturactor is a Japanese Brand and they are even a hit for the famous Cover Face Concealer which in all honesty, something I'm quite against with. It looks cakey on me, oxidizes a bit unfairly and emphasizes all the dryness in my skin which is quite ironic because I do have oily skin type. However, the spotlight is not supposed to be pointed towards it so I'll deal with it when it's time, all right?

Claims

Naturactor Pressed Powder gives the best coverage without the hassle of putting an armor of makeup! Effectively covers large pores, dark spots, skin discolorations, scars, fine lines and other skin imperfections. It Infuses your skin with Jojoba Esters to keep it soft, supple and hydrated, Squalene and Vitamin E to keep it looking younger and firmer while Lauroyl Lysine primes your skin to get that smooth look as it prevents caking, patching, flaking and spotting. Naturactor pressed powder is based on the combination of Mica, Silica and Pearl to give an unparalleled skin illuminating effect that leaves your skin looking divine and flawless all day!

Packaging

It comes in a standard type of packaging--very lightweight, compact and functional. It has a small mirror inside and comes with an accompanying sponge. The sponge is okay, I guess, but I throw it away since I'm not really into this kind of thing. I prefer to use a powder brush that I can wash every now and then.

All the information are written in Japanese and Naturactor should know that they do have international customers. I bet anyone would appreciate if it's in universal language or they could even provide just a quick translation. Since curiosity always kills the cat, we end up wasting time looking for information online.

Shade

I got the shade 441 because from the color samples online, it appears that it is intended for those with light complexions with yellow undertones. Turns out, they are way too different in person. 441 is a tad lighter than I expected and has a peachy pink undertone. That goes without saying that you can't really trust color samples hundred percent. Anyway, Naturactor products comes in very limited shades but we're quite lucky enough to find something as close as possible to Asian skin tones.

Naturactor Pressed Powder comes in 4 shades:

• 430 Rosy, pinkish shade. Suitable for very light skin tone.
• 441 Light shade that blends great with Naturactor Cover Face 130 and 140.
• 451 Medium shade that blends great with Naturactor Cover Face 141 and 150.
• 470 Illuminating Shade perfect as a concealer for dark areas of the face such as the under eyes

Ingredients

Pearl Powder, Mica, Silica, Jojoba Ester, Vitamin E, Squalene, Lauroyl Lysine, White Tea Extract, Lycii Berry Extract, Milk Thistle Extract.

Products like this with less ingredients as possible are quite appealing and the idea that less is better got me sold. And so I appreciate Naturactor trimming down chemicals to 10. What is even more surprising is that the whole product comprises of only beneficial and natural ingredients! I also noticed that in part of Talc, they use Pearl Powder instead. Though I wasn't so convinced with ongoing research and debates that Talcum powders are really bad for the health, it gives me (and us) a peace of mind knowing that what I am using is purely mild and hypoallergenic.

Scent, Texture and Ease of Application

It really has a fine, smooth texture that doesn't cake or loosen up when applied either with a sponge or brush. It is indeed very sheer and lightweight on the skin, enough to control everyday oils. Another good thing about it is that it's sheer enough not to add any additional coverage or texture on the skin so cakey makeup won't be a problem at all. It barely smells anything too so those who are sensitive to scents will not find it off-putting. It's probably the first ever pressed powder that stirred away from the standard scent of compact powders. I'm giving it a point for that matter!

Coverage, Longevity and Overall Performance

This pressed foundation offers a sheer coverage but still pretty much looking decent even when worn on its own. If you don't like sheer coverage, you have the option to use Naturactor Cover Face Foundation or the Powder Foundation for added concealing. The pressed powder itself brightens overall complexion and somewhat blurs out pores and imperfections for a healthier, more youthful looking skin.. I personally prefer this as a setting powder though over any foundations I have for it get rid of too much dewiness and seal the makeup on, making it last longer than usual. My face stays oil-free for about 4 hours (no blotting needed!) and because I have very oily skin, mind you, that is already quite an achievement!

If you would like a setting powder that effectively mattifies the skin without looking too flat and cakey, this is perfect for you. It works well with foundations to blur pores, keep oil at bay, and increase the longevity of your makeup without looking like you overdo it. The price is pretty much reasonable for the quality and I must say, the oils in me tingles in excitement for my next pressed powder!

Seriously, has it already been 6 days past from the first day of 2018? Hanna, where did your 'new year, new you' goals go? Sheez. I am really hating myself now for procrastinating when all I do is watch Korean dramas and nothing more. I even dare dropping my work schedules just because I'm too lazy to work! Why is it so hard work so hard at least on a January? Say today is my off and here I am--took me until 3:00 A.M. in the morning before I finally write something sensible (more like semi-sensible?) about a review on something that's, believe me, long been overdue. It's not something I have a lot to babble on but it surely is an awesome find. In fact, I never thought even for a second, I'd put a baby product in my makeup stash and keep reaching out on a daily basis. You know it, I bet, and yes, it's this Tiny Buds Rice Baby Powder I got from Sample Room a few months ago.

Here's what it claims as per Tiny Buds Baby:

Mild Natural Scent that moms love. Prevents prickly heat. Safe for babies with skin asthma and skin eczema. Trusted by pediatricians.

I don't pretend I know much in Science but I'm pretty much aware that talcum powders are being debated as to whether or not it's safe for the body. The possible risks has reached my attention long before I started blogging, but I still opt for talc powders just for the fact that they are so convenient to use that almost everyone carry a bottle each that you probably won't run out of sources to ask for a bit when you oil up. I'm used to dousing baby powders a lot ever since I was just a baby and I haven't diagnosed with any respiratory and other linked diseases yet, so apparently talc, tagged as a carcinogen, does not bother me.

The product comes in a typical powder bottle with those tiny openings that you twist to dispense product. I just love the fact that the packaging is so transparent with information. One bottle retails for P118 which appears to me that the amount of product inside (50g) is not really proportioned to its price.  However, I'm comforted by the fact that this product is just safe without any risks at all, is something that effectively take good care of my oily skin and goes a long, long way!

With only 2 ingredients written on the list, I hardly believe that apart from the scent, I am only putting rice starch on my face but maybe it's just really plan and simple like that. Anyway, rice starch, aside from being a popular thickening agent, it really has good absorbing properties as well that helps in reducing greasiness and oil. They make the surface silky, smooth. soft, matte for a long time which is pretty much what they do on the skin and the primary reason why I find myself so into it. The white pigments are just so fine that they easily adhere to the skin without causing extreme breakouts or blocking pores. It's just so easy to apply as well either with brush or hand and... let the photo down below speak for how I was able to reduce the dewiness on my skin. It offers a sheer coverage just with the slightest bit of texture and seems to blur away skin imperfections. Lakas maka-fresh lang.

If you are really looking for a nice absorbing/setting powder to your bases that would effectively blots away excess oil and prolong makeup without you having to spend a lot, I suggest you give Tiny Buds Rice Baby Powder a try. It can be a nice replacement for your talcum powders most especially if you are considering chances of being safe. I love it for my oily skin and would surely repurchase!

Recently, I had a major haul from Sephora which I was very excited to share with you. One of the items I impulsively purchased is this Cover FX Blotting Powder which I didn't really know anything about prior to buying. I haven't taken the time to read reviews online either for I was afraid it will get sold out before I even put it in my cart. The only thing that really convinced me is the name itself, a "blotting powder" which I initially thought would be a perfect match for my super oily skin. Is it? Spoiler alert: I am having love and hate relationship with this product but I already hit the pan!

Claims and Ingredients

Claims (as per Sephora)

This pressed blotting powder is formulated with vitamins and good-for-your skin ingredients. Shine control and oil absorption agents minimize shine and absorb excess oil while key vitamins soothe and moisturize the skin. Formulated WITHOUT: Parabens, Sulfates, Phthalates. Clinically tested and vegan. Free of gluten, mineral oil, and talc.

Packaging

The compact powder comes in a box that has all necessary information like claims and ingredients. Inside, you'll see a slim, sleek and silver compact powder with shimmers on it. I like how it feels on my hand, very travel-friendly and won't require much space in my makeup pouch. One thing I was disappointed about upon receiving this product is the fact that a part of the name displayed on the compact was sort of erased. I don't have any idea if I was sent an old batch because of this, nonetheless, it is something I can easily forgive.

The compact can be opened by pushing the button below and there you'll find a puff which wasn't very useful either. Since I don't like bringing big stuff like makeup brushes whenever I'm out (I'd like keeping my bag lightweight and small), I just had to make the puff work. Just make sure to clean it every use and I'm using my Naked Glory Makeup Brush Cleaner  for a hassle-free brushes and puffs bathing. 

Texture, Consistency, and Ease of Application

This powder comes in three shades--Light, Medium and Deep. I got the light one 'cause Medium looks too dark on the pan. Thankfully, Light matches my skin tone. I don't think it would do anything different though as this product provides completely sheer finish. I tried running my point fingers onto the pan just to check how the powder feels on the skin and it felt so smooth. I already know that it's very lightweight on the skin and won't provide additional color or texture which is what I prefer. If you are after additional coverage though, I don't suggest that you get this.

With the accompanying puff, it is quite easy to apply product onto your face and notice how it instantly makes your skin look matte without emphasizing dry patches on your skin. It also does not smell anything awful.

Performance

This product mainly claims to blot out excess oil on the skin which I don't have any issues on. It provides instant oil control without dryness but it does not lasts quite decently on the skin. I find myself oiling up after 2 hours from the moment I retouch which I don't think a good sign for something you bought so pricey. I like how my skin look so fresh and pores so fine but this product does not do much other than that.

In fact, I tried Cover FX Blotting Powder with my liquid foundations and it just made them look cakey after I diffuse the powder. I ended up cleansing my makeup away that very moment. I gave it multiple times until I got hopeless. I tried to put it alone on top of my sunscreen and there I realize that this is how it's supposed to work. Because I rarely use makeup now whenever I'm off to work, I just shrugged it off and make it my everyday powder instead of using talc-based ones. Thankfully, this product is vegan and didn't cause me any breakouts.

Overall Thoughts

I've always known Cover FX as one of the high end brands that exists in the world of beauty but this is my first time trying out a product from their makeup line. Although I bought quite a few stuff from the same brand, I just felt like I had to use this one first and I'm glad that I got it for 60% off as I wouldn't afford its original price. To be honest, I think this product is quite expensive for what it does on the skin and a lot of drugstore powders do just the same job. I liked this product, don't get me wrong, but if you can find something much more affordable than this, I suggest you go with them instead. I like Maybelline and Loreal Pressed Powders.

Coty Airspun Translucent Extra Coverage Loose Face Powder

You know I'm a huge hoarder of any good stuff on huge sale. Right there and then when I saw that a legit online seller was having this powder on sale, I did not think twice and put it on my cart. Later that day, I paid for the item and immediately received it right on my door step a couple of days after. I had my eyes on it for quite some time (well, since I immerse myself in beauty and skin care products) and I was really delighted that, finally, I am having the opportunity to see what's with all the hype.

Claims and Ingredients

PACKAGING

The tub is quite bulky as you can see with 65g of products inside. P500 is quite pricey at first but if you think of it, you get a tub almost the size of your palm! It's very economical since you only need a small amount to use every application. I think this tub will last me a year considering I only use it to set my foundation each time I'm off to work.

I'm actually not a fan of these type of packaging since they are fragile and not travel-friendly. Also, you still have to remove the seal (when you want to really get a good amount of product) if you don't want to waste time making powders come out of those tiny filters and onto powder brushes or puff. I personally don't use the accompanying puff as it kind of douse powder on the skin but not totally blend it.

SHADES

There are a lot of shades of Coty Airspun which you can choose from depends on your skin tone: Translucent Extra Coverage, Muted Beige, Honey Beige, Translucent, Naturally Neutral, Rosey Beige, Fragrance-free and Suntan. I prefer Translucent Extra Coverage because I think it is the safest choice if you don't personally know what shade suits you best but still want to try something with a little bit of coverage.

SCENT

A beauty legacy since 1935...So I have heard that the manufacturer of this product did not change the formulation of the powder. It's still the same as it's previous years, probably why I'm getting a hint of classic perfume scent on it. People may find it a little overwhelming (especially those who find well-fragranced products unbearably awful), but I personally love it. I love how it gives me added scent a few more hours after application. Anyway, you may opt for the fragrance-free variant if you don't prefer the scented ones.

TEXTURE, COVERAGE, AND EASE OF APPLICATION

The powder pigment is finely milled, soft and smooth to the touch and gives off a sheer coverage (parang fresh and natural lang, ganun). It is true that when you touch it, you will imagine cloud-like softness. According to Coty, the powders are undergoing a special method of production as it is being spun by air through a "micronizer" until it reaches its smoothest, softest and finest texture, thus it's name. The powder easily adhere to the skin and blends effortlessly due to the pigment's minuscule size. It also imparts a soft focus like finish as its blurs pores and other skin imperfections.

LONGEVITY AND OIL CONTROL

I'm always using my RT powder blush to apply this powder and set my foundation and I love how it gives an airbrush and shine-free finish. I would say that this powder is more suitable for those with oily skin for it effectively mattifies the face adn remove the look of dewiness or greasiness. However, it does not control oil dramatically and the longest time I have this on without looking shiny is about 2-3 hours, even longer if I only have my sunblock and this. I won't take it against Coty Airspun Loose Face Powder 'cause I know I was really blessed with super oily skin and the foundations I use may be one of the contributing factors why I oil up easily. Still, having this on my makeup pouch is quite useful in times I need a quick retouch.

PERFORMANCE

This product has a very matte finish that could give a tiny bit of white cast so use sparingly. If you prefer a hydrated look, do not use a lot. I would not say it does not suit those with drier skin tone but if you are to use this, keep using it in small quantities to avoid a flat matte finish.

Usually, I tend to break out from using heavily-scented products but not from this one. I still consider it as one of the best setting powders in the market that are economical to use and effective in reducing shine on the face. Although it does not totally hide imperfections especially blemishes and dark spots  on times I prefer to use it alone (C'mon, Hanna, leave it to foundations and concealer!), I still love this product and I highly recommend it to everyone. I'm sure to repurchase once I ran out!
