I'm doing makeup for years now and I think the secret to a perfect canvas (aside from good skin) is a good makeup primer. They are a lot of primers now in the market and of all the formulas being sold, I like the blurring/mattifying ones because oily skin and large pores is why. We have it in our genes and I couldn't think of anyone in my father's side who didn't go through the hard puberty stage. Anyway, a good primer also improves the skin's texture so you better choose them carefully. I'm glad I have found this primer from Innisfree which is what I have been loving lately.

CLAIMS

Smooth skin texture with concealed pores. This both cleanses and smooths out uneven pores and bumps, creating a clear skin texture prior to makeup application. Long-lasting softness. Natural mint and minerals manage the oil and moisture balance of the skin, allowing skin to remain soft and smooth for long periods. Clean and comfortable skin using ingredients from Jeju. This product allows skin to remain supple and clear by tightening wide pores with Jeju green persimmon extracts, while the Jeju green complex creates healthier skin.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

After your skincare routine, squeeze some primer onto your fingertip and spread a thin layer on pores. Gently pat for even coverage. *It may cause flakes or clumps when used excessively, so use only a small amount and spread in a thin layer.

PACKAGING

Product comes in a small, easy-squeeze tube container that's very travel-friendly.I like pointed nozzles like this as they allow for precise dispensing. It also comes in a cardboard box with sufficient product information such as claims/benefits, directions, ingredient list as well as the expiry date.

SCENT, TEXTURE AND EASE OF APPLICATION

It has a minty scent which I really like but not off-putting. It's also a tinted primer that I think is intended to copy and enhance our skin's natural tone and color. The first time I dispensed an amount, I thought I was using an expired product as the formula is quite clumpy and is colored brown. I realized that it's just like that and that it doesn't matter. The texture is very similar to mousse products and is very easy to spread on the skin. It's velvety to the touch and it fills the pores without clogging. Be careful how much you put on. It will create clumps and flakes when used excessively. It's safe to say that a little goes a long way.

OVERALL PERFORMANCE

I am so far liking Innisfree No Sebum Blur Primer as it does its job in mattifying and blurring the skin. It lessen the appearance of pores and blemishes for a perfect canvas. I also notice that I oil up  less whenever I am using it and that makeup stays for an additional hour or two, definitely longer than without any primers on.

This is one of the cheapest primers out there and you'll think it's even cheaper because a little goes a long way. If you are looking for a primer that blurs pores and imperfection instantly, go for this product! It won't disappoint.

With the summer heat,  I couldn't help but skip too many steps in my skincare and makeup routine. My oily skin just can't handle all the formula and humidity so I (most of the time) resort to just the basic steps. After skincare, as much as I'd love to do my base and color correct, I just top everything off with a mattifying powder so at least I'd look ever-so-slightly fresh. In this kind of weather, a blurring/tinted powder comes very, very useful as it both enhances the skin's texture and prevents shine. It's when I start using Innisfree No-Sebum Blur Powder which is where our spotlight would be for today.

CLAIMS

Innisfree No-Sebum Blur Powder has pore blur effect that covers skin bumps . It makes the skin texture smooth and bright as if giving a blur effect, covering skin bumps caused by pores and fine wrinkles.  Offers durability of long-lasting softness. Natural minerals and mint ingredients from Jeju work to control the oil and moisture balance of the skin and make it more healthy. It has a natural beige color that fits the skin. It allows for the skin texture to appear healthy and feeling smooth by providing a look for natural makeup with natural beige color pigments that are suited for any type of skin.

HOW TO USE

I am pretty sure you all know the drill. Tap lightly on the face as the last step of makeup. Feel free to use whenever the skin becomes greasy.

PACKAGING

The product comes in a tiny jar with a twist cap. The packaging looks very simple but has an impact as the plastic is thick and durable and is perfect for travelling. It's very similar to the popular No-Sebum Mineral Powder with only slight differences in color and texture. I loved the mineral variant that I forgot how many times I did repurchase so it must be the reason why there's not much persuasion in my part in buying the Blur one. Both of them has this seal that is a bit of a pain to remove. They also come with a white-colored puff that is very plush and won't irritate the skin at all.

The only issue I probably have with this type of packaging is the fact that it's very hard to dispense the product with the size of the filter. No matter how hard I tap, the powder won't come off in decent amount. It must be the powder's texture as they are quite clumpy. It's very inconvenient to use because imagine me having to remove the plastic filter over and over so I can just tap my brush straight to the powder. I always end up picking a little too much pigment and is very wasteful because the powders just has the tendency to go all over the place. If you have an empty, bigger cosmetic sifter, you might want to transfer if you are using it mainly to set your makeup.

SCENT, TEXTURE AND EASE OF APPLICATION

The product has a subtle mint scent so I don't think you'll find it off-putting. It's tinted and is beige in color so I think it will serve most skin complexions. The powders are velvety soft and they seem to melt on your skin once applied. They may look clumpy from where they are but once you press on them, you'll know they are finely-milled.

OVERALL PERFORMANCE

I like the fact that the powder's blurring effect is really significant upon application though not very long lasting. The mattifying power goes away after 1-2 hours and I feel like I needed to apply some more. To be fair though, I have super oily skin and retouch is something I always needed to keep shine at bay. The good thing is that it's able to keep me looking fresh after every application. Because it's tinted, it gives less white cast too compared to the mineral variant and other translucent powders. It's also able to give skin a brightened and more even appearance without the powdery look. I'm very particular with powders and I make sure to only use the ones that will not clog my pores. This is one of those powders that didn't cause me to breakout even if it takes me lots of retouch the whole day.

Honestly speaking, P477 is quite too expensive for a powder with only 5g of amount and it's usually more than what I would normally spend on a basic setting powder. I'd still give it a shot though because a little goes a long way and it's a nice setting powder to apply as is or on top of your makeup to make sure everything stays in place. Nothing very special but still useful.

If you are looking for a more reliable blur powders, better spend a little more for Coty Airspun, Laura Mercier or Ben Nye.

Last October (my birthday month), I made an ALTHEA KOREA HAUL with the birthday points they credited me as one of the Althea Angels. I picked up some stuff which I haven't tried yet and will be useful for my skincare. Innisfree Jeju Volcanic Pore Scrub is the very first item I did a test run with so you could say this is way past its due date. I have been using it for more than a month now and let's get into the details of what it's done for me.

CLAIMS

Beauty experts always recommend to exfoliate at least once a week, to rid your skin of dead cells and promote the rejuvenation of new ones. The Jeju Volcanic Pore Scrub Foam is an exfoliator and cleanser rolled into one, and works by removing excess dirt and dead skin cells off your face, leaving you with skin that is healthily radiant and moisturized. Its special formulation of Jeju volcanic clusters and red clay work effectively to absorb sebum, yet is gentle enough to be used every day.

PACKAGING

Product comes in a matte beige squeezable tube which is what I prefer for skincare items because of hygiene reasons and travel-friendly nature. I appreciate that it has all necessary information like benefits, directions for use, ingredients, caution and expiry date. The mouth is also sealed with aluminum upon purchase so that ensures you that the product inside is of top quality. It's one of the things I love about Althea Korea, all the items I've purchased since day 1 are all fresh stocks and arrived in good condition.

SCENT, TEXTURE AND EASE OF APPLICATION

The product has a creamy, slightly rough texture because of the scrub beads. I am not so sure what it's made of but since they are blackish brown in color and checking through the ingredient list, it might have been volcanic clusters. It feels slightly rough when applied but it feels really good. The scrubs aren't dense enough that it scrapes the skin, rather, they seem to break down in smaller pieces before they finally melt with the foam cleanser. This cleanser lathers so rich but not a pain to wash off. It also reeks of a clean scent which I like.

PERFORMANCE

I've always trusted Innisfree's skincare products as ingredients are carefully sourced and are natural. They also seem to focus on targeting a specific concern with every skin care line they produce.  There's the very popular Green Tea line and more and then there's the Jeju Volcanic where Innisfree Jeju Volcanic Pore Scrub Foam belongs. The main ingredient is the Jeju Volcanic Ash Extract which has powerful purifying properties that draw out dirt and sebum from the pores. I've been using products with clay on it just for the fact that I have oily skin and I needed something to absorb excess oil and un-clog my pores. Aside from this, it also has Fermented Satsuma Extract which has anti-aging properties and helps to remove dead skin cells and Green Tea Extract that keeps skin hydrated all throughout the day. We all know for a fact that these ingredients has so much more to do than what's written.

 

I used to apply this foam cleanser once every day to twice-thrice a week. It's supposed to be the other way around, right? What happened? Though I like how it leaves my skin squeaky clean and refreshed, I find this cleanser to be drying. It totally strips my skin off its natural moisture which is why I needed a heavy duty moisturizer afterwards. It seems like it is working to absorb excess sebum on my skin and removes bumps and whiteheads effectively but as a result, my skin makes up for the loss of moisture by secreting more oil. The dryness is somehow uncomfortable which is why I limit usage to twice a week. This works well for me. I use it on those days I want to detoxify and when I badly need something to clear up rough areas and dullness and also whenever my skin seems like it's about to develop pimples. This cleanser just dry them out before they even become ripe bumps.

I guess this product's main selling point is the fact that it's a cleanser and a scrub in one. This saves you time and makes two skincare steps to just one which is the reason I probably would repurchase. Given that I find it drying considering that I have oily skin, I don't think those who have drier and more sensitive skin types will find it suitable for daily use.

I have had major issues with clay masks before. Most of which that I have tried just wreaked havoc on my skin. It made me skeptical using products with clay because I am afraid I might have whiteheads and tiny bumps all over my face again. Because everyone seem to love this particular mask from Innisfree and its benefits has been circulating in social media, I thought of giving it a try. I purchased a tub and didn't really expect the instant results I'd get. If you want to know more about what Innisfree Super Volcanic Pore Clay Mask does for me, please keep on reading!

Packaging

The matte brown tub with a copper twist cap added to the natural feel of the product. I also appreciate that it is loaded with necessary information about the product (claims, ingredients and expiry date) and there's English translation for the Korean words printed. The tub has an inner plastic seal inside and it also shuts tight. I would consider it a bit bulky for traveling though I don't mind because I initially bought 5ml sachets for road-testing before I got the full-sized.

1. What is the Super volcanic pore mask? Jeju volcanic clay is made from minerals released by volcanic explosions in Jeju. It's categorized as a preserved alkaline resource and is effective in removing sebum and other impurities. (Contains 6,020 mg of Jeju volcanic clay) 

2. Strong removal of sebum thanks to the Super volcanic capsules. As the capsule bursts, the mask exfoliates and removes dead skin cells. The AHA ingredient chemically exfoliates and smoothes out skin. 

3. Clear, Contracted, and Refreshed Pores! The strong absorption of sebum and cooling effect of the clay refreshes the skin and contracts pores.

How To Use

After washing your face, gently apply toner on your face to even out your skin texture. Then, apply the mask over your entire face, avoiding your eye and lip areas. Rinse off the mask with lukewarm water after 10 minutes.

Texture, Consistency and Ease of Application

The mask itself has a thick consistency and has the typical color of clay. I wouldn't wonder because it's main ingredient is Volcanic Scoria, which according to Innisfree, a pure, and fairly rare, ingredient formed from lava as it cools after a volcanic eruption. This ingredient is definitely a natural one and has the capability to reduce sebum production and removes skin impurities for a healthier, softer skin.

I like that the mask has an indistinguishable scent though it's very thick and has a drier texture so it requires extra effort when applying it all over the face. Sometimes, there could be some tugging so what I do is scoop out a necessary amount to a clean and empty plate and then sprinkle a bit of water onto it. The mask dries fast so you wouldn't have to time it and make sure it's been 10 minutes before you rinse it off. This ain't a peel-off mask so you might have to use a lot of water to remove the dried formula.

Overall Performance

I would label this mask as a holy grail product for me. I use it during the time when I'm having hormonal imbalance (once every other day) and my face seem to produce oil non-stop and even from just a single use, I can tell what's different on my skin. My face is less oily whenever I wake up and the product seems to make my skin clean, soft, plump and healthy. This is one of the few clay masks that isn't drying but is able to balance the skin and control oil even so. I have a hard time believing in oil-controlling products because they just don't work but this one is indeed true to its claim, no wondering a lot has been hooked.

And for the record, this clay mask didn't cause me breakouts! It seem to clear out impurities and unclog my pores so they look much less obvious. The difference is quite significant though just like all skincare products, I need it for maintenance. I wouldn't mind splurging for this product if it means that I'll have a better control of my sebum production. Less oil, less breakout!

Lately, I have been so stressed out mainly due to work environment and though I'm trying to compensate by getting at least about 7-8 hours of sleep a day, it seemed like the stress took its toll on my skin. Because yesterday was the first day of my long weekday off, I decided to treat myself to a budget-friendly foot and face mask sessions at home. I don't have a lot of sheet masks to choose from so I couldn't afford to be picky. I settled for Innisfree It's Real Squeeze Mask in Green Tea which I got as a freebie from a previous purchase.

I'm pretty sure you all know the drill when it comes to masks like this so I won't go further into details. Surprisingly, this is one of the best K-beauty sheet masks I have ever tried. I'm quite skeptical with sheet masks because most of them leaves a heavy, sticky remains which is a no-no for me. Oily products just sound too unattractive. I have also tried a few sheet masks before  and they are not just sticky but they are dangerous too! Worst case that's ever happened was me breaking out the next day!

Innisfree It's Real Squeeze Mask in Green Tea has a faint scent to it and the essence is clear white and watery. Having it on my skin felt so refreshing and hassle-free since it somehow fits the size of my face. The sheet mask is thin and cottony but isn't thin enough to be torn easily with pressure. I applied the remaining essence on my body, particularly arms, hands, elbows, knees and feet and its very hydrating without the sticky feeling. It gets absorb by the skin easily. After 20 minutes, I remove the mask sheet and pat the remaining product on my skin. I usually rinse off mask sheets to avoid the greasy look but not this time. My skin did not resemble a face looking like a grease ball and the moisture was just perfect like a sleeping mask.

I noticed how smooth and soft my skin became especially upon waking up the next day. Although I woke up with super oily skin, my skin stays well-moisturized and supple even after washing my face. Overall, I like Innisfree It's Real Squeeze Mask and am planning to buy more variants soon!

I have been seeing a lot of auto eyebrow pencils in the market and it becomes so hard to decide which ones to get. I've swatched a few of them the last time I went to the mall and it's really hard to distinguish what makes one differ from the other aside from the shade selection and shape of spoolies. I won't be talking about that right now unless I'm doing a comparison review (let me know if you like me to do one) so I'm going to talk about each brand on their own. Today, what I am going to review is these Auto Eyebrow Pencils I bought from Innisfree which is one of the popular Korean skin care brands nowadays.

Claims

(1) Eyebrow pencil for defined contours of eyebrows. It is a wide, flat oval-shaped eyebrow pencil for drawing wide lines when held flat and delicate lines at the tip of eyebrows when held straight; (2) Soft texture for minimized irritation. Its soft texture glides over without irritating the skin around the eyebrows and (3) Ideal match for hair color. Pick from one of seven colors matching your hair color to create a more sophisticated and sharp image.

Packaging

I don't own a lot of eyebrow products but whenever I'm going to pick one, I prefer the ones in dual retractable packaging. I find them so useful, handy and convenient to use that you don't need anything anymore for your brows since it already comes with the eyebrow pencil and spoolie in one for that well-defined, easy-to-make brows. The product itself is slanted and flat that it lets you create a precise frame and somewhat mimic hair strands to easily fill in bland gaps.

Shade

The product comes in 7 shades which perfectly matches most if not all Asian skin tones. These are 01 Rose Brown By The Setting Sun, 02 Dark Night Sky Black, 03 Dreamy Dawning Gray, 04 Early Morning Dew Ash Brown, 05 Midnight Espresso Brown, 06 Urban Brown Before Daylight and 07 Sweet Honey Brown All Night. Why are the names all about time? Lol. Anyway, what I got is the 04 Ash Brown and 05 Espresso Brown because right now, I don't have dyed hair so it's a blend of black and brown.

Texture and Ease of Application

The brow products are easy to apply and glides easily on the skin with a soft texture. The pigmentation is a bit sheer especially the Ash Brown (which is also drier and sheerer in overall texture compared to the Espresso Brown) so you will need to coat some more for a better color payoff. This could be a bit disappointing if you want bolder brows in an instant but I think of it as an advantage for a couple of reasons. First, it's mistake proof. Since the color is sheer, you can easily remove any mistakes with a concealer or even a tissue paper. Also, you can control how bold you want your brows to be. Second, brows look full and well-defined but more natural-looking compared to when you are using brow creams or powders in pans. Again, if you don't like sheer pigmentation, this product is not for you.

The accompanying spoolie has  soft and fine hairs that easily diffuses any sharp lines and brushes the hair in a nice single direction. As you can see on the photo below, the product tends to look patchy but it is something the spoolie can fix easily.

Performance and Longevity

These brow products are quite long-lasting (lasts about 5 hours with minimal fading) and does not smudge. Reapplication is easy and you can reapply as many times as you'd wish. The pencil is about an inch and a half long so you have a lot of backups and it's so affordable. These are really nice investments on your vanity area! Plus, you get to choose what shade to wear depends on your hair color! I love this and would highly recommend!

I use the Ash Brown to fill the outer corner of my brows and use the Espresso brown on the inner area.

When you shop at Althea, this Innisfree No-Sebum Mineral Powder is included in their bestsellers. Aside from being super affordable, I do not know what else is special about this small jar...until it's been given away FOR FREE when you shop at Althea. You know, there are some times when Althea's having promos that when you put these highlighted products in your cart, you just don't have to pay for them (One of the things I love about them!).

Innisfree is a Korean skin care and makeup brand and is eco-friendly which focuses on recycled packaging and infuses natural ingredients in their products, therefore, free of harmful chemicals. Sounds good, huh?

Innisfree No-Sebum Mineral powder has Mint, Jeju Green Tea and Jeju Mineral Powder that is why when you try to smell it, you will catch a whiff of the following ingredients and did I already tell you that it smells oh-so-nice? It does actually.

It's housed in a small mint green plastic tub and is designed very neatly, you won't get bombarded and confused with too much information as its design seem to be very straight forward. Also, I find it not too bulky, just the right size to fit in pouches and bring wherever you want to go.

It has the manufacturing date and some description, I guess? Good to know that it expires 2 years after opening.

When you take a peak on the inside, you'll know that its created like typical face powders with that filter thing and sponge. By the way, I super like the puff applicator--its very soft and smooth, to be honest, thus, delivering a smooth application too.

Anyway, let's get down to what I love about it.

This powder has multiple use as well--finishing base powder, makeup fixer, soft and bright skin tone, replacement for oil control paper, eye primer and hair control.

Too much uses for a small product huh? I'm impressed. But are the claims really true? Definitely although I haven't tried it yet for my hair! It says there that it could be applied on top roots of your hair to get rid of oiliness. I mean given how finely-milled the pigments are and how strong its capabilities to mattify skin, I believe it would also do well with hair!

It claims to be a replacement powder for oil control paper making the skin soft and matte. It would if applied at least three times a day (for oily skin). It keeps my face shine-free for hours (maybe because of the double sebum control system) but definitely, not all day. But it's the only face powder which keeps my makeup that way for a good five hours. So far, it's the best for me!

Even though, it only has 5g of it, I swear, it could last you up to months but I guess, it still depends on how much you use, still, a little goes a long way! In my case, I just use it once a day (focusing more on sebum concentrated areas like forehead, nose, chin and upper cheeks) as a setting powder over makeup to make it last longer and in fact, it would! Actually, they tend to melt on my skin after a few hours because I have severe case of oily skin (which scks) but not with this powder. As a matter of fact, I tend to become oil-free for at least five hours. Mind you, I commute daily and you can think of anything that triggers oiliness on my skin, do you?

Upon application, my face seemed to look bright and clear and definitely so soft and smooth to the touch! I just... I can't...it's just so perfect! If you are worries that it may create white cast on the face like other face powders do, fret not! This powder blends easily to any skin type and tone, acting as a translucent powder to make it look fresh. If oils start to threaten again, just dab a little and its back to fresh again. That easy, promise. What's more? I have been using it for quite some time and I'm having no irritation at all and definitely, no major breakouts to date!

The only downside for this product, I think, is that due to the puff applicator and powdered texture, application could be messy. It has a pressed version and I'd love to use that too!
