Laneige Time Freeze Firming Sleeping Mask Review

Laneige Time Freeze Firming Sleeping Mask
Bought for: P1,600 (60ml)
Bought from: Althea Korea

While I'm waiting for the next episode release of Hi, Bye Mama on Netflix, I'll just write this long overdue blog post about Laneige Time Freeze Firming Sleeping Mask which I got from Althea Korea a few months back. You know that I love Laneige and this is a product under their Time Freeze skincare line that you ought to try especially if your concern is dry, aging skin.

CLAIMS

Laneige Time Freeze Firming Sleeping Mask is an anti-aging sleeping mask that improves skin firmness and facial contours overnight for a more youthful-looking face. It has Dynamic Collagen_EX technology or anti-aging elasticity technology that targets 5 signs of aging - dryness, skin texture, fine wrinkles, pore elasticity, and skin toneIt also upgraded from shape-memory content to net-structured shape-memory contentThe technology fills sagging skin with elasticity factors with the combination of shape-memory polymer and natural high molecules and firms up for long hours filled-up skin whose elasticity may become poor due to lack of sleep.

This product is advised to be used with Laneige Time Freeze Face Fit Roller which you can buy separately for about twice the price of the sleeping mask. I didn't bother getting one for myself because knowing Laneige, their products are quite on the high-end range. With this saying, I wouldn't be able to tell you how was it with the roller. Ideally though, the product should work on its own. There's just too much information and science vocabularies to take in which I am honestly not good at. However, it all boils down to the fact that this product is intended for those who are aiming for a more youthful skin.

INGREDIENTS

WATER, PROPANEDIOL, AVENA SATIVA (OAT) KERNEL EXTRACT, GLYCERIN, CYCLOPENTASILOXANE, DIMETHICONE, SQUALANE, CYCLOHEXASILOXANE, CERATONIA SILIQUA (CAROB) FRUIT EXTRACT, HIBISCUS ABELMOSCHUSSEED EXTRACT, TILLANDSIA USNEOIDES EXTRACT, ADENOSINE, HYDROGENATEDLECITHIN, C12-16 ALCOHOLS, LYCERYL CAPRYLATE, DEXTRIN, DIMETHICONE/VINYL DIMETHICONE CROSSPOLYMER, DIPALMITOYL HYDROXYPROLINE, BUTYLENE GLYCOL, CETEARYL GLUCOSIDE, CETEARYL ALCOHOL, ETHYLHEXYLGLYCERIN, XANTHAN GUM, THEOBROMA CACAO (COCOA)EXTRACT, PALMITIC ACID, POLYSORBATE 20, PVP, PEG-240/HDI COPOLYMERBIS-DECYLTETRADECETH-20 ETHER, HYDROXYETHYL ACRYLATE/SODIUM ACRYLOYLDIMETHYL TAURATE COPOLYMER, DISODIUM EDTA, PHENOXYETHANOL, FRAGRANCE

PACKAGING

I've always love the sleek, high-end looking packaging of every Laneige products. They do spend a few extra to make their products aesthetically pleasing and definitely marketable. One thing I do notice is that they are not very travel-friendly because of the frozen glass and thick plastic that is easily damaged when mishandled.

Laneige Time Freeze Firming Sleeping Mask comes with a spatula for hygiene reasons. I always end up misplacing them though so I don't have too many options other than using clean fingers.

SCENT, TEXTURE AND CONSISTENCY

This sleeping mask has a very subtle scent which I like because my skin is kind of sensitive to products that are heavily scented. It has a nice creamy and soft texture and is kind of thick so a little would go a long way. Those with oily skin like me should use a little bit less than the required  amount so as not to end up having super greasy skin. I don't think it would matter very much anyway because we'll just let it be as we sleep. It just depends on your skin type how you'd play with it.

PERFORMANCE

I am using an exfoliant right now so my skin peels every now and then. I couldn't use other products in my stash because they burn probably because they have alcohol or the ingredients aren't that compatible to that of the exfoliant's. I love the fact that Laneige Time Freeze Firming Sleeping Mask is able to tame down irritation and itchiness as it keeps my skin moisturized. It also helps in faster healing of the exfoliated, sensitive skin. Back when I wasn't using the exfoliant, this sleeping mask keeps my skin supple, smooth and elastic. My skin looks renewed after washing my face in the morning and it's able to also lessen puffiness. I'm still in my early 20s but using anti-aging products is one of the things I do to keep wrinkles and fine lines at bay.

You can use this product on your face, skin around the eyes and neck to slow down the skin's natural aging process and to soften the look of every imperfections on your face. It just don't work on acne and pimples so you might want to incorporate a different product to target those problems. You're lucky if you don't grow these bumps on your skin but I do. That's why I am using this product together with stronger acids to balance my routine.

Overall, I really like using Laneige Time Freeze Firming Sleeping Mask though the only thing that bothers me is the pricey tag. I tried checking if there are trial packs of this and great news, there are! That's more economical so I think I'd stock up when I have the chance. If budget is never an issue, go splurge for this product. It truly would help you with dryness and sagging skin.

9 Wishes Rose Capsule Treatment Essence Review

9 Wishes Rose Capsule Treatment Essence
Bought for: Free | SRP:  P2064

I've never tried so many Rose-infused products in my life but whenever I do, it works. Which is why I am so thrilled to have won this 9Wishes Rose Capsule Treatment Essence from Style Korean's Try Me Event. It's one of the 4 products I was given and honestly speaking, I'm impressed with all the products I was chosen to review. If you want to know why, please keep on reading after the short break!

CLAIMS

Enriched with rose oil and macadamia nuts oil that melts upon applying onto skin to make smoothe and moisturize skin, and calm sensitive skin. Infused with Rosa Damascena flower water to restore skin balance and provide hydration to skin.

9 Wishes Rose Capsule Treatment Essence also claims to maximize the skin's natural night time renewal process with the exclusive 9wishes's oil encapsulation technology. From the product's claim, this is intended and suggested for night time use which I strictly follow as I'd like to use the HYDRA SKIN AMPULE SERUM in the morning. Nonetheless, I still think this will be suitable for AM skincare as it's very lightweight.

PACKAGING

This is the very first product I have tried from 9Wishes as looking through it, it has that nice aesthetic and the overall look from the packaging to the product's texture are very pleasing to the eyes. It looks so fancy and I was like, hey, this is just exactly my type! Just like other 9Wishes products, it also has an English translation to the packaging which makes it easier to know what its benefits are. The sleek rose gold cap and glass pump bottle looks so classy and I love that about it. The glass bottle is transparent so you can see the tiny specks of rose inside.

The only gripe I probably have is the fact that it is housed in a non travel-friendly packaging which is a very minor issue as I prefer it to be rather photography-worthy.

SCENT

It smells like how Rose products do yet it doesn't smell synthetic which I appreciate. Other Rose products has the tendency to have that rather pungent scent. If you don't like floral scent, this may be too much for you.

TEXTURE, CONSISTENCY AND EASE OF APPLICATION

The essence has a watery consistency and is clear in color with tiny specks of rose. These aren't genuine rose petals though as it instantly melt on the skin upon contact. You won't even need a second to warm it up in order for it to finally melt on the skin. This product contains oils and extracts so I am surprised that this gets absorb so quick without any oily or greasy residue. It dries almost matte which is perfect for someone who has oily skin and large pores. Those with drier skin type may need something more moisturizing.

PERFORMANCE

This product contains Rose (antioxidant and anti-aging), Macadamia Oil (a very lightweight oil that moisturizes, softens and regenerates skin and also an anti-inflammatory), Aloe (known for its skin calming and soothing properties), Jasmine Oil (treats dry skin and evens out the skin tone), Licorice (meant for sensitive, reddened skin because of its skin-soothing properties), Blueberry (rich in antioxidants and Vitamins A and C to treat acne, revitalize, heals and makes skin glowing), Fig (decrease skin melanin, sebum and water loss) and Ginkgo Biloba Nut Extract (antioxidant and anti-inflammatory). With all these active ingredients, this product is an all-in-one treatment.

Despite the presence of oils, I am glad that this essence did not break me out nor clog my pores. I am always cautious with oil-based products given that they have the tendency to clog the pores and apparently, aren't suitable for all skin types. I am glad bad skin reactions in my end never happened. Those who are sensitive from using any products infused with the following ingredients  mentioned may need to be more careful. I would suggest doing a patch test first.

It felt refreshing to apply and with just a few pats, the product is already set leaving my skin feeling a little hydrated. A little because I don't find the hydration enough (and I have oily skin!!!) and it makes me reach out to HYDRA SKIN AMPULE SERUM for an added moisture. It does not sting upon contact, rather, it feels so soothing with the various plant extracts it's made with. On lazy days (which is pretty much everyday) after I cleanse and tone, I would apply about 2-3 pumps of this essence and then I'm off to bed. The next day, I would expect that my skin would look supple, soft and glowing and it never disappoints.

I also noticed that after almost four weeks of religious use, together with the serum, my blemishes and pimple scars especially on my lower cheeks have significantly lightened. It definitely contributed to the overall glow of my skin. Also, my pores are tighter and more balanced.

If you are looking for an effective skin treatment, I would really highly recommended to splurge on this product. Something that wont break me out and makes my scars lightened are big factors I consider when recommending something. This product is a bit pricey though but Style Korean makes it affordable when they go on sale so if you would really like to save more, you better wait for the sale season.

Do let me know if you have questions by sharing it down below! And oh, here's to my first post for 2019! Happy New Year! :*

Laneige Special Care Water Sleeping Mask Review (Delights, Pop! Holiday Edition)

Laneige Special Care Water Sleeping Mask, 70ml
Bought for: P900 | Original Price: P1000 and above
Bought from: a Korean shop

I have been having a hard time dealing with breakouts and blemishes (from previous chicken pox infection), and using countless products that seem to not work great together took its toll on me. I had a major tweak in my skincare routine just the start of April 2018 wherein my once multiple skincare steps dropped to at least four--cleanse, tone, moisturize and spot treat scarring with the famous Sebo De Macho. What has been a useless tub of humectant suddenly became a holy grail for me. Yep, I am talking about Laneige Special Care Water Sleeping Mask.

I have been using this for a good couple of months now and during the first month, it seemed to be just not working. I have heard good stuff about this and though I didn't expect it to work like magic, I had huge hopes for this. I speculated it was because it didn't suit the other products I was using and now, I guess I was right. I had to stop using it for less than two weeks (end of May-April) when I had the infection and mainly because I needed something soothing other than my Aloe Vera Soothing Gel from Serafica, I decided to give this a second shot. I guess it was the perfect time to assert whether it's working or not without the use of anything else other than a trusted cleanser from Cetaphil. Turns out, it works!

Claims (as per Laneige)
1. Skin purifying effect: SLEEP-TOX™ technology purifies skin during sleep, keeping it in optimum condition. SLEEP-TOX™ technology’s purifying effects help to rejuvenate and normalize skin that is often fatigued and sensitized by stress during the day. This helps the skin to achieve a well-rested appearance the next morning.
2. Skin moisturizing: MOISTURE WRAP™ helps skin retain moisture throughout the night. The dense beta-glucan moisturizing shield (network) consists of active agents such as Hydro Ion Mineral Water, evening primrose root extract, Hunza apricot extracts, and more so that skin fully absorbs the goodness during 8 hours of sleep.
3. Skin soothing: contains skin-soothing agents that are gentle on sleeping skin, helping it recover overnight. Ultra-mild, safe formula that can be worn overnight / Non-comedogenic, sensitivity tested.
4. Aromatic SLEEPSCENT™ helps you relax during sleep. SLEEPSCENT™ specially developed for Laneige Water Sleeping Mask is an AMOREPACIFIC original, allowing skin to relax and rest and boosting its ability to regenerate.

How To Use

Step 1. After washing the face at night, apply toner and emulsion right before going to bed; Step 2. Dispense an appropriate amount (2.5cm in diameter) and apply on the tip of the nose, cheeks, forehead, and chin in dots; breathe in the scent for 3 seconds; Step 3. Spread gently along the texture of your face using outward strokes; Step 4. After the product is absorbed into skin, leave it on overnight without washing the face. (Wash the face the next morning.)

Ingredients

Water, Butylene Glycol, Cyclopentasiloxane, Glycerin, Cyclohexasiloxane, Trehalose, Sodium Hyaluronate, Oenothera Biennis (Evening Primrose) Root Extract, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Fruit Extract, Beta-Glucan, Chenopodium Quinoa Seed Extract, Ascorbyl Glucoside, Magnesium Sulfate, Zinc Sulfate, Manganese Sulfate, Calcium Chloride, Potassium Alginate, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer, Polysorbate 20, Dimethicone, Dimethiconol, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Propanediol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Stearyl Behenate, Polyglyceryl-3 Methylglucose Distearate, HYDROXYPROPYL BISPALMITAMIDE MEA, Inulin Lauryl Carbamate, Alcohol, 1, 2-Hexanediol, Caprylyl Glycol, Carbomer, Tromethamine, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance, CI 42090

Packaging

Housed in a durable, chic-looking jar, it's but a bit bulky considering that it has only 70ml of products inside. The whole exterior is made up of high quality plastic and the cap was sort of frosted. If you are bringing it to getaways, you might want to store in a cushion-y pouch or handle it with extra care as it's also prone to cracks and dents. Mine's in a limited edition packaging so it has some party popper designs but naturally, the product just come in a simple blue jar.

It also has an accompanying spatula that makes it hygienic to use as you don't have to dip your fingers inside--who knows what and how much bacteria you're mixing on! What isn't so nice about it is that it lacks informational facts on the tub itself though that's where the box came so useful. Good thing, it displays the expiration date on the bottom.

Texture, Scent and Ease of Application

The product is aqua blue in color and has a gel-type formulation that glides easily on the skin. It claims to be a sleeping mask so the texture is way too different from your usual face mask. First, it's not oily nor sticky and gets drank by the skin without any uncomfortable residue. It does not transfer on any fabric so you can really sleep on it all night. It isn't too light either to pass up as a daily moisturizer. That makes it suitable for every skin type, I guess. It's like a typical moisturizer that does something more. It replenishes moisture, makes skin look healthy and gives a brightening effect as you sleep. Smells just subtle, fresh and soothing, you can can catch a whiff of the aroma to also get a good night's sleep.

Overall Performance

I've talked about Laneige Special Care Water Sleeping Mask in my Instagram post where I told everyone that I use it after I got my chickenpox to hasten the healing process. I am using this product nonstop every night since then and I really see a huge improvement on overall texture of my skin. My scars seemed to lighten and became a lot less red. I know chicken pox scar appearance heal overtime but it's barely a month! My brother who had the infection prior to me, still have dark reddish brown scars but mine's look more healed. The scars still are noticeable and pinkish but I don't think people would look at them in dismay since I now have healthier-looking skin. My overall complexion looks better now  and I even got a compliment from a friend who said "Kumikinis na ulit muka mo ahhh!" (which of course, not in an exaggerated way because they are still way too obvious). It's just that I wasn't the only one who's noticing how effective this product is in giving that glow we need.

Do take note that I have super oily skin and moisturizing products tend to trigger sebum production. I'm glad to inform you, guys, that this product didn't do anything like that nor clog the pores. I recently had my period and although zits do still pop like crazy, they are fewer and smaller now. It does not claim to do that but since it's a significant effect, I thought it's worth mentioning. All the active ingredients really do a great job in smoothening the skin!

Overall Thoughts

If you have dry and sensitive skin, this is great to moisturize your skin and prevent any flakiness. If you have oily skin, don't worry because it's gel-based so it's oil-free and lightweight. This product is worthy of being recommended whatever skin type you have as it's gentle and non-stinging. It's a great night moisturizer to soothe and heal dull and tired-looking skin so you wake up as if you had a complete 8-hours of sleep! There's a reason why it's a holy grail for me and I'll surely repurchase!
