Cathy Doll Snail Mineral Drop DD Cream Review

Cathy Doll Snail Mineral Drop DD Cream
Bought for: Free with points; SRP: P449/138ml
Bought from: Sampleroom

Yey! Today's my big day. Just officially turned 21. Feeling too old lol. Thank you for all the advance and belated greetings, no need to greet me, guys, if you are too busy. It's enough to know you remember today. Silence means a lot haha! Anyway, just because it is my birth day, I am so excited to come up with several blogs just to make up for the past few days where I didn't have any updates or had something new on the way. Any way, to start the rounds of review, here's my thoughts about Cathy Doll Snail Mineral Drop DD Cream which I bought from Sample Room!

Packaging

This product is also formulated in Korea and oh boy, I think I'm being obsessed with K-beauty now lol. More than anything else, I really appreciate that they come in oh-so-adorable packaging with playful designs. The packaging of this DD Cream stands out among all my other body products and I can't help but lovingly look at it from time to time. I am just totally hooked that I think nobody would disagree when I say that it could win in the best packaging category among all Karmart beauty stuff (if there's such thing lol). Also, I am overwhelmed with all the information this product contains and don't get me wrong. People who love to read like me would definitely find a joy skimming through all helpful information. Most of the Korean products I know don't have translations in English and I appreciate that this is an exception. I could spend hours just staring at the beautiful combination of pink and gray and the lovely font styles they use.

Manufacturing and Expiry Dates
This product has a shelf life of three years. It's a good thing for me since I am not seeing myself using this product everyday.

Claims, Direction for use, Caution, Ingredients

Scent

This product smells very subtle. I can't really figure out the perfect word to describe it ('you know I am not too good in determining scents), but it's almost barely there. Nothing too offensive. Those who are very particular with fragrances will not find it too overwhelming.

Texture, Consistency and Ease of Application

The product is creamy white in color and from the looks of it, I know it creates strong white cast which I was not wrong about. Anyway, I will discuss more of these later on. It very much reminds me of whip creams but with added weight and moisture. The DD Cream itself is soft enough to glide on the skin but it feels a little weird 'cause it turns watery when you apply it on your skin. How do I say this? Well, let's put it this way. When you apply it on your skin, it seems like the water used on the product separates on the white cream, therefore, making it harder to blend the product which now turned thicker due to loss of moisture. I'm becoming nonsensical here but this DD Cream really feels weird. I would really say that there's no ease in application as it's taking me several minutes before I completely spread the product onto my whole body. This is not like our typical body lotion that gets absorbed easily on skin. Residues like the strong white casts sets on fine lines and pores and it made me think that all active ingredients are useless since they do not get absorbed by the skin completely. See photo below.

Sorry for my hairy arms lol. I am still scared to try waxing or shaving (this is neither a choice, oh no!). The contrast are true on the first picture. I have awfully uneven skin tone on my arms where I always had my watch on. I didn't find it convenient to bring an umbrella before and apply sunscreen, which is why. I am working on it right now though. :)

Performance

DD Creams claim to have a lot of benefits but I don't buy that. It claims to brighten the skin, which is quite true but it's mainly due to the white cast which does not look good on me. My hairy arms could be a factor but I did try it on my face and I didn't like the effect that much. The cream itself looks too white, weird and incompatible with those who have warm undertones. Just look at my arms! Although it was really able to balance my skin tone, I still think applying this cream on my whole body every day just to match the shade requires A LOT of effort and blending skills (very important!). Oh no, I've had ample time applying makeup and additional preparation won't do me good lol. This might be a perfect fit to those with alabaster skin though.

This product dries easily, lightweight but leaves a slightly tacky and sticky feeling which goes away after minutes. Although the finish wasn't very much likable to me, I appreciate the fact that this product is moisturizing, softening and is non-comedogenic. I tried this on my face as well using a very small amount and it gives me a fresh, dewy look upon application. Dilemma starts after few hours though because it make my T-zone go nuts with oils. If you opt for a dewy Korean skin complexion, then you might enjoy this. And although I did not like the heavy, sticky feeling, it did not break me out after a week of use. Just a piece of advise, if you are to use this as a base makeup or primer, set it with a darker shade of powder to match rest of your body.

Overall Thoughts

Karmart incorporates anti-aging and moisturizing ingredients on this product such as Snail Slime and Collagen (which I believe only comes in small quantities due to rank in ingredient list), but it won't convince me to purchase a second time. There's just too much cons more than pros for me. I read somewhere that this product has other shade which is more suitable to Asian skin and which has a warmer undertone and if that's true, then I might give that one a try 'cause this extreme light shade won't blend well on most Asian skin. Another thing I would like to point out is the price range. If you are to use it only on your face, then you might find it economical to spend P499, otherwise, nuh-uh.

Eco Skin Love Mineral DD Cream Review

Eco Skin Love Mineral DD Cream, 30ml
Bought for: Free | Original Price: P270
From: Eco Skin Love

Claims: Mineral-based SPF-30, minimizes pores, adjusts to any skin tone, whitens skin, blurs lines and pores, anti-pimples, anti-aging, suitable to any skin type, non-greasy, no white cast, can be used as makeup primer or can be used by itself

Ingredients: Macadamian Seed Oil, Mineral-based SPF30, Essential oils, Vit C, Glycerin, H2O, Fatty Acids, Epsom Salt

Here's a post that has long been overdue because I kept forgetting that I haven't written anything about it yet. I happened to remember it while I was commuting going to Monumento because one of the blogger/vlogger I admire went to Novo Monumento to buy some stuff. I guess I have to share with you my haul when I get home? Anyway, Novo is like a one-stop shop, more on like a mini mall where you can buy stuff from appliances to school stuff for a fraction of the mall's price! Seriously, all of the great buys there are dirt cheap! Uhm, so I was talking about Eco Skin Love DD Cream, the one I am using as a base primer the past few weeks.

First of all, are we familiar with DD Creams? Personally, I am not that yet knowledgeable about makeups so I have to use a search engine for my inquiry. To share with you, here's what futurederm.com (apparently the first site to come out) says about DD Creams: "DD Cream: Daily Defense. Like a glorified sunscreen. Called both a "daily defense" and less commonly a "dynamic do all", the DD cream is generally even lighter in texture than the CC cream. Like the BB cream and the CC cream, the DD cream generally has brightening and anti-aging ingredients."

So now that we have a little background about it, here's something about Eco Skin Love DD Cream for y'all!

First. packaging wise, I would say that this product is really travel-friendly as it comes in a plastic and not somewhere a fragile bottle and comes really small so it could fit pouches just perfectly unlike other heavy glass bottles of foundations. Second, it comes with a pump so dispensing product is something you have control on. Also, I would really like to comment on the labeling because it's got the description, benefits and ingredients all saying hi in there but no expiration nor manufacturing dates.

The formula, when dispensed, looked like typical creams and smells like baby powder, though I presume it offers only a sheer coverage which, apparently, was probed upon application. The consistency is a whole lot different from BB and CC Creams of course. Whereas BB and CC Creams have thicker and more viscous consistency, DD Creams has lighter feel to it. Actually, I remember tinted moisturizers to it except this one incredibly feels so much lighter on the skin. When applied, it blends and dries very easily without patchiness. It also does not cake with its semi-matte finish. It leaves no shine at all but it does not feel flat matte or drying matte. In fact, this DD Cream is a good day moisturizer and primer that could hydrate skin just enough. With this, I think it is perfect for whatever skin type.

Upon application, you will instantly notice how your skin turns more radiant, softer and smoother not just by look but to by feel as well. Using this would lessen the appearance of pores, scars, dark spots and blemishes on skin but just like what I have said, it only delivers a sheer coverage so if you are more of a coverage girl, then opt for foundations or BB Creams or if you want, apply them on top of this DD Cream.

By the way, a swatch is provided below. You will see that my skin is nowhere near perfect: oily, has large pores, dark spots, marks and blemishes. But I know, the photo will say it all. It does not perfectly hide all the imperfections but it makes my skin look more photogenic lol. And sorry for the awkward dried product in the second photo. I did not notice it until I cropped the photo smaller. :)

During lazy days, I prefer using this alone and set it with some powder and there would be no sticky feeling, in fact, I don't feel like I have anything on the face. This product does not break me out too. Anyway, if you are wondering, a half pea-sized amount is already enough for my face and neck. Yes, very economical for that matter. Also, I noticed that it does not create white cast on the skin despite its high level of sun protection.

Overall, I was impressed with the first ever DD Cream I tried in the market. Aside from being made with only safe ingredients, it is also effective and affordable. I would love to repurchase but maybe not now because I am always looking for new products to try (and I'm broke lol). There you have it! Until my next post! Happy blogging!

First Impression: Eco Skin Love + Products

Lip and Cheek Tint | 10ml | P110
Eco Mineral DD Cream | 30g | P270
Eco Miracle Cream | 50g | P280
Pomegranate Fair Bar | P270
Tomato Milk Bar | 135g | P200

First and foremost, thank you so much Ms. Gee of Eco Skin Love for sending these healthy skin treats over! Feeling so lucky to have received these! Kakilig talaga, as in! One of the most generous sellers I know, indeed. Love love! :)

Anyway, onto the first impression proper. Lol.

When I received the parcel, I was like "Woah! More organic and natural products to road test!". My eyes easily dropped on the soaps because I so love soaps! Then onto the high-end looking roll-on lip tint, cream and finally the DD Cream! I never thought DD Creams even exist until Ms. Gee sent me one! Gah, I feel like a late bloomer. Lol.

1. Lip and Cheek Tint | 10ml | P110

This comes in a roll-on type packaging for easy application. It looks posh and cute. In fact, it does not look anything worth P110. The amount of the product inside the container is of generous amount and on first use, I must say that this lip tint is such a keeper. The color payoff was good, perfect for those who loves bright pink lips! If, however, you aim for a darker shade, like red, you can avail the other variant. Longevity wise, this is such a winner!

2. Eco Mineral DD Cream | 30g | P270

As I have said, I never knew that DD Creams exist until Ms. Gee sent me one. So I get curious like a cat, tried it immediately on my skin and I was really glad that it dries to a semi-matte finish. You know, I hate those foundations/creams that leaves a dewy finish because they just trigger severe oil production (in my personal experience). I can say that this product is very light on the skin. Actually it's like a tinted moisturizer for me but does not do much to cover imperfections which is but fine as I could easily layer up foundation on top.

3. Eco Miracle Cream | 50g | P280

This tub has a generous amount of cream inside so there is no doubt that it would last me months to consume everything. For only P280, you get an SPF60-filled tub--perfect for summer! That's quite a protection, don't you think?

I am currently using this cream along with the DD Cream and other products included in my skin care routine (I'll be posting it here on my blog too) and I'm loving the effects! Imagine, no major breakouts on my period? That's a cut above my expectation!

4. Pomegranate Fair Bar | P270

For its retail price, I am actually expecting something great. Being satisfied with the above products of Eco Skin Love, I am not skeptical on using this soap on my skin! As a matter of fact, this one is next in line to my current soap! Can't wait to try this out as it would be my first time using a soap with pomegranate extract!

5. Tomato Milk Bar | 135g | P200

Hearing tomato-infused bars made me think of the organic soap that I purchased years ago with tomato extract. It was a pleasant experience for me because I once said hello to bright, slightly flushed skin with astounding hydrating properties. I'm really looking forward to experiencing the same thing with the Tomato Milk Bar!

I'll be posting individual reviews for each soon. For more information, visit Eco Skin Love on Instagram! Happy blogging!
