Mario Badescu Skin Care Acne Facial Cleanser Review

Mario Badescu Skin Care Acne Facial Cleanser
Price: US $15 | P1,233
Bought from: Sephora Philippines

Breakouts are really huge pains in the ass. I keep trying out different skin care products ranging from the most affordable drugstore ones to the high end ones in the search for the most potent products that will help me get rid of my zits. Just like most people, our criteria in choosing the best products includes price point, speed of action and availability. I don't think Mario Badescu Skin Care Acne Facial Cleanser met my expectations though, neither it's worth what I paid for. After having it road-tested for almost a month now and half-emptying it, I think I'm ready to post a review about it. If you want to know more on how this product worked for me who has very oily skin and prone to breakouts, keep on reading!

Descriptions, Directions and Ingredients
Claims

Clearer-looking skin starts with the right cleanser. This is an effective—but gentle—face wash specially formulated to address acne-prone or acne-erupted skin. With Salicylic Acid to deep clean and a soothing blend of botanical extracts (like Aloe, Chamomile, and Thyme) to help improve the look of troubled skin, our Acne Facial Cleanser leaves skin thoroughly refreshed without stripping it of vital moisture. Balance, after all, is key.

This formula may be used twice daily. For best results, use this cleanser regularly along with an anti-acne regimen.

Packaging

This product is housed in a very simple translucent plastic packaging that is both unique but is evidently user-friendly. You just have to pull the dispenser upward, turn it upside down, do a little squeeze and the product will easily flow out of the bottle. Overall, the minimalist design is attractive and I like that it displays all necessary information such as the descriptions, directions for use and ingredients of the product.

Texture, Consistency and Scent

Mario Badescu Skin Care Acne Facial Cleanser has a clear and runny consistency that somehow reeks of diluted ethyl alcohol. Very unlikely. At first, I find it unpleasant because...err, who would dare (sort of) rub alcohol onto their faces? Using it overtime made me used to it though. It made me reminiscent of my previous skin care products that are alcohol-infused and realized that they did not cause me any adverse reaction whatsoever. Just thinking of that calmed me down at the very least.

Looking at it from the outside, I know that the product won't lather much on wet skin. It reminds of Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser but the latter feels softer and milder on skin. The one from Mario Badescu is just as gentle on initial use but not something I can leave sitting on my skin for a few minutes 'cause it tends to sting. Whereas, the one from Cetaphil is something I can leave on as long as I can without any irritation.

Performance

Just to give you an idea, I am using this product twice or thrice everyday using a dollop of cleanser depends on weather, amount of makeup on and how my skin felt after commuting or perspiring. It doesn't create suds and the product melts on skin but it enough to give you a clean feeling afterwards. For its cleansing ability, I did include a sample picture down below. Notice that there are still makeup residues after one wash, thus, the need of heavy duty cleansing oil or wipes if you apply makeup heavily on a daily basis.

I have tried products with Salicylic Acid before and most of them really worked well in keeping my skin clear and soft. This product claims to have Salicylic Acid as well which is known as an effective ingredient that addresses breakouts but I did not see much effect in controlling its frequency. I have been using it for almost a month now and I still have the every-clingy kinds of heads (lol)--blackheads, whiteheads, all sort of heads haha! I had used some skin care products before which (are not just cheaper but) worked very speedy in clearing out my skin so you can't blame me if I have something I can compare it with.

This product claims to balance oil production as well but I wasn't feeling anything like that. In fact, my skin is just as oily as it always has been. The only thing I personally lie about this product is the fact that it can brighten up my skin and makes it a little bit clearer. And since I have tried alcohol-based cleanser before, they are a lot and a bit drying on the skin so moisturizing will be an essential step after.

On my skin: Lipstick, Eyebrow pencil, Eyeliner, Contour and Highlight
Overall Thoughts

I have been hearing loads of positive feed backs about Mario Badescu products but this, together with some of MB products, didn't really sold me. I am not a dermatologist who can really tell you which one to buy and which one you shouldn't. But to tell you honestly, this one is gentle on skin and could be suitable to any skin type but for any significant effect to take place, you have to wait for a long time. I am not that patient enough to wait though 'cause I was able to try a skin care brand before wherein I saw noticeable difference in only a span of a week. Since I am very particular with eliminating my pimples, I am looking forward to a product that will do just what it claims.

Even if Mario Badescu Skin Care Acne Facial Cleanser didn't do much for me, I am still hoping to try some of their best-selling skin care products soon. Let me know if you have already tried this by sharing your comments down below! Happy blogging!

The Happy Organics Rose-C Rosemary Glow Boosting Facial Gel Cleanser Review

Rose-C Rosemary Glow Boosting Facial Gel Cleanser
Bought for: Free | SRP: P220
From: The Happy Organics

Every now and then, I am supposed to tweak my skin care routine and incorporate some products I hope will work for my skin type (oily and acne-prone). Nowadays though, I became even pickier with what I apply to it because I am hopeful that the skin care I invest on will compensate for my lack of sleep now that I am working. It was a huge relief when I receive a gel cleanser from The Happy Organics because drugstore foaming cleansers are total disasters for me. It was a long story though, but I'll start by telling you that for me, (this is in general) gel cleansers are better for oily skin. They are gentle, non-drying and could fit for all skin types. As per some recommendations, the more you remove the natural oils from your skin with tough cleansers, the more your sweat glands are most likely to compensate for the lost moisture by secreting excessive oils.

PACKAGING

The cleanser comes in a small transparent plastic bottle with a flip cap and is designed with floral patterns. Dispensing the product is kinda hard though because the bottle is not really squeezable so you have to turn it upside down, tap slightly a few times and wait for the gel cleanser to come out. However, I find it so convenient to bring during getaways because it's travel-size and lightweight.

TEXTURE / CONSISTENCY / EASE OF APPLICATION

The gel looks tinted pink from the bottle but comes out looking transparent when dispensed. The consistency is runny and smooth and I don't know, but just by looking at it, I see how gentle it was made. You may not see it from the bottle or even when dispensed, but it has jojoba crystals (you will feel it once you lather it on your skin) that's why this gel cleanser is a good facial scrub as well. The crystals though are not spread out so you might want to shake the bottle first before using.

This cleanser would not be a perfect match for you if you have issues on products that does not lather much like foam cleansers. Others do not like the concept of gentle cleaning from gel cleansers because they think they are not really capable of deep-cleansing the skin. I still like it just as is because it felt non-drying to my skin and is gentle enough to be used multiple times.

SCENT

It has a strong floral/herbal fragrance. I am not saying I don't like it but if you are very sensitive to scent, you may find this a little overwhelming.

PERFORMANCE

Just like what I have said earlier, the formula is not created to be sudsy but I could use it for the second or third time if I feel like my face is not clean enough. On days when I'm wearing heavy makeup, I tend to use cleansing wipes prior to washing my face so to not give this cleanser a hard time.

Every after use, I notice that my skin feels so soft and smooth, even looks hydrated and bright. This can be attributed to the number of not just active but organic ingredients such as different lightening plant herbs, soothing aloe juice, fruit distillates of green apple, pineapple and sweet orange and rose damascena and olive leaf.

Upon application, I did not feel any irritation, itchiness or any signs of adverse reaction to my skin nor sudden breakouts of any type.

OVERALL THOUGHTS

P220 is a bit pricey for someone like me who has tight budget so I'm really hesitant if I would be able to repurchase or not in the future. Still, I would recommend this product to everyone (whatever skin type you have) if you are searching for gel cleansers that are really mild, organic and natural and cruelty-free. Selected Pond's Products at 50% Off!

Yesterday, my class was supposed to be at two in the afternoon. While on my way, our block president texted us that our professor on Theater Arts will not be able to attend due to some diagnosed heart disease. We're saddened by this news because she's one of our most cherished professor at school.

Anyway, my next class would be by six in the evening so I still have four hours to spend at the mall. Hahah! First thing that I did was go to Karaoke Hub. Two of my friends from college were there and since I don't know what to do, I just joined them. After 30 minutes, my other friend texted me that she's at the mall as well. I accompanied her and we looked for Western Union because she's bought something online and that was their agreed mode of payment. There was no Western Union inside so we chilled out instead.

First thing we did was go to one of our favorite clothing store: Chicabooti! They offer 30% off on all new arrivals from Australia! My friend and I bought a purse and a headband. Originally they were for $4.99 each but we got them at P79.00 each! I didn't get the chance to buy clothes for most of the available items are a lot bigger than my size. :( Most of the available sizes are 8 (US size) and above and what fits me are only between 4-6. That's the reason why I envy most of the chubby people, they could easily fit on the beautiful dresses of Chicabooti. So in the end, Jonica, my tall friend, bought the pieces which I hope fit my body size.

We also went to Jewels. They are also on sale. Some are offered at Buy 1, Take 1. I didn't buy anything from the store since I think buying their items meant not being practical at all. Also, the quality of their clothes can't justify the prices. Also,  I've seen most of their designs in Divisoria with the prices being much cheaper.

Bench is still on sale, I've bought a couple pair of pants there already and I think that's enough for this month. We also went to Etude House, Tony Moly and The Face Shop. I didn't bought anything but included some of their products on my to-buy things. We went to Watsons and Department stores as well. I've bought sanitary napkins (hehe), the ones which are intended for night use (since my mom always mistaken the pack for day and night use).

But what surprised me is that SELECTED PRODUCTS OF POND'S ARE AT 50% OFF INCLUDING THEIR CLEANSING GEL! However, today is the last day of the sale! So hurry up, girls!

Pond's Pearl Cleansing Gel 100g (P80.00)
Pond's Dewy Rose Gel 50g (P199.00)
Pond's Age Miracle Night Cream 50g (P349.00)
Pond's Firm & Lift Day Cream 50g (P449.00)
Pond's Firm & Lift Eye Contour Lifter (P325.00)
Pond's Firm & Lift Targeted Lifting Massager (P499.00)

I've been eyeing the cleansing gel, (one of the latest product from Pond's), and I was glad that it was included in the Pond's sale! It originally retails for P160.00 but I got it for only P80.00! Even though I still have my facial wash at home, I just can't let this moment slip away. Ha! I just wish that they extend the sale for I was planning to buy the Dewy Rose Gel as well. :( Anyway, I'll be posting a review for the cleansing gel once I've tried it.

So that's it! Hppy blogging! xx
