The New Belo Collagen Vanilla Smoothie For Skin, Hair and Nails

We have already heard so much about collagen from beauty experts: how it's vital for the overall health of our skin, hair and nails. If you still don't believe in its power, I can't comprehend why. There are lots of resources to find if you wanted to know more about collagen supplements and how it scientifically function, so might as well skip the introduction part. :D But I'm sure we'll all agree that it doesn't take a genius to know what it is and what it's for.

There are a lot of collagen drinks in the market - in probably different levels of potency, as well as difference in methods of consumption. My favorite though: smoothies! Kudos to Belo group for inventing these delicious ready-to-drink smoothies! I've tried their melon variant before and that was my ultimate favorite. However, the vanilla flavor is just almost as delicious!

Belo Collagen Vanilla Smoothie tastes very similar to creamers. I find it funny, but I like creamer in my coffee and tea, so who cares? Now that I've read the mini cardboard box my collagen sachets came with - it says that you can use these as creamer/sugar substitute. That's great knowing that we can have a refreshing, healthier drink option.

CLAIMS

I got my free sachet samples from Sampleroom, but normally, Belo Collagen comes in a cardboard box of 10s and retails at around ₱1,400. It's quite expensive, but good thing though, there's always sales and promotions, so you might want to check them out when they're discounted.

I drink mine for 5 days straight, basically once a day before bedtime. You have the option to take 2 sachets a day, one in the morning and the other at night. No one's gonna judge you because it's really delicious (LOL!). Just empty the sachet and dilute in a 250ml glass of cold water and stir until dissolved.

I always have a hard time mixing my collagen powder into cold water. The trick that works for me best is to stir it in warm water first before adding the cold water. It's making my smoothie a bit lukewarm this way. What I do is put my glass in the chiller for about 10 minutes more, so it would be a lot more refreshing to drink.

I haven't taken a lot to see a significant improvement in my skin, hair or nails, but I am sure to repurchase in the future just because it's a joy to drink (LOL!) and I always look forward to my glass of smoothie everyday. It's versatile in a way that you can mix it on almost any of your drinks for that added creaminess and flavor.

Sunscreen is an essential that I couldn't live without. As of the moment, I have about five opened sunscreens which I use alternately depends on my skin needs. It's summer now but it doesn't mean we never have to use it for the rest of the year. Yes, no matter what season or what day it is, I make sure to slather a generous amount of sunscreen for protection. You may not see the need and importance of using it now, but later on, you will thank yourself for preventing premature aging. Using sunscreen daily is one the best ways to combat it aside from eating food that are healthy for the skin.

Today, let's talk about Belo SunExpert Whitening Sunscreen SPF50 PA+++. I'm used and been in loved with the Belo SunExpert Face Cover SPF40 PA+++ and Perfecting Shield Tinted Sunscreen  that I lost track how many times I repurchased in the past 2 years. I'm so glad that they come up with a whitening variant with added SPF that not only prevents skin darkening but also helps lighten and maintain the skin tone as well.

Product comes in a tube container for easy dispensing of the product. It's lightweight too so you can bring it conveniently anytime and anywhere you want. Just like all Belo products, they are designed in a way that there's enough room for important product information such as benefits/claims, usage, warning and ingredient list. The cap shuts tight with a click so product doesn't leak or whatsoever.

SCENT, CONSISTENCY AND EASE OF APPLICATION

The product has a very faint scent I couldn't almost distinguish it. It's opaque white in color and has a soft, creamy consistency. It's very easy to blend and surprisingly, it doesn't leave any streaks or white cast on the skin. It also dries quickly. I like that I can use it under makeup and the product won't make the base any cakey or patchy.

PERFORMANCE

Just like all of Belo's sunscreen products, I really feel that my skin is really protected under the sun. I don't see such significant lightening effect after using it for more than a month. To be fair, skin lightening is never easy to achieve and I know it by heart. It takes religious skincare, effective products, a bucket of patience and several months of waiting (possibly in vain) before you see it happen. If you are not very tight on budget, you can opt for food supplements or even undergo chemical procedures for faster results. I said a lot but my point is, this is not that product that you buy to see miracles overnight. On a lighter note, this has a brightening effect on the skin that doesn't look awkward.

I haven't tested nor used it during a getaway but I think staying under the sun in the afternoon (when the sun's at its strongest point) is enough for me to gauge whether or not this works. I remember having a long day when we went to Taytay and shopped for clothes and stuff. After hours of exposure to sun and heat, I went home to Valenzuela (imagine my hours of commute!) and go straight to Post Office to pick up a parcel. I wore it from morning to almost evening and my skin did not darken at all nor felt tight. Another great thing about this product is that it feels very lightweight and non-sticky and it's very comfortable on the skin even after perspiring a lot.

I've always dreamed of having spotless, even underarm skin which is pretty much the very reason why I keep trying all these commercial products that aims to target every basic underarm concern. With Belo Essentials Whitening Underarm Cream being offered at Sample Room, I got carried away, carted it when it became available and thought of nothing because what am I losing anyway? If you would like to know my experience with this product, hope you'll stay and read until the end!

CLAIMS

Belo Underarm Whitening Cream effectively penetrates the surface of underarm skin and whitens at the cellular level with Alpha Arbutin and Hydroxyphenoxy Propionic Acid in as fast as 2 weeks. It also effectively targets hyperpigmentation (darkening) and prevents redness (erythema) caused by habitual plucking and shaving. It's formulated lightweight and non-sticky for comfort and is expertly formulated, hypoallergenic and dermatologist-tested.

PACKAGING

The product used to be in a pink container so I assume they just had to revamp the packaging–nothing's permanent, you know. The product comes in a tube container for easy dispensing of product. This kind of container also helps control the amount to use. It's overall lightweight and is perfect for traveling. All the product information you'll ever need is also printed at the back such as the product benefits/claims, suggestions, directions for use, ingredient list and expiry dates.

APPLICATION

The cream is suggested  to use with  Belo Intense White Anti-Perspirant Deodorant which I had shaken off because that did not work for me. Unfortunately, it just turned my UA situation worse. So there, I had to be honest that I did not completely follow what's suggested so I don't have any substantial proof whether or not they work well together. This blog would only focus on the underarm cream.

Application-wise, I would apply it every after wash and before I sleep. I make sure to slather a pea-sized, let it dry and wear my most comfortable clothing. I had two days off every week and so I make sure to skip deodorants and apply this product twice a day. That's more than the suggested application so dare I say I should expect a lot?

SCENT, CONSISTENCY AND EASE OF APPLICATION

The cream is pearly white in color, has a subtle fresh scent, a little runny and has the tendency to drip. I like that it's very lightweight and non-sticky though the thing that I really don't like is the fact that it takes forever to dry. I had to fan my pits and wait for minutes before I can wear a shirt. I hope Belo could re-formulate and that would make the consistency and application so  much more convenient.

PERFORMANCE

I am glad I did not pay full price for this otherwise, it would be a waste. This cream did not do what it's supposed to. As oppose to its claims, this product did not even lighten my underarms and there was totally no effect after finishing the entire container. On a lighter note, it does help in reducing  a little bit of texture on the underarms but not quite much to justify its suggested retail price. I think if you are looking for a maintenance cream, this will be okay and it could also be worth repurchasing if being sold at discounted prices. You can take advantage of their BOGO deals from time to time too.

In my case, I don't think I'll ever repurchase. I don't hate it but I'm just not seeing any other reason why I should. If the product won't work, why would I buy it? Better invest on something much more effective. To be fair, you know how I'm such a big fan of other skincare products from Belo just not the underarm whitening line. Never will I recommend it either. Others are all praises for these so I'm happy it works for them. We must take into consideration the fact the we have different skin types and we react differently to products.

I've always love most of Belo products and last month, I got two products from Sampleroom. I rarely write about anti-perspirant or deodorants unless I have something to say about them. Please continue reading after the break to know more about Belo Intense White Anti-Perspirant Deodorant in Roll-On and Aerosol.

CLAIMS

The Belo Authority brings you its most intensive whitening deodorant yet. It’s clinically formulated with the powerful dual whitening action of ActiWhite and Beetox that reduces underarm pigmentation without irritation. It penetrates deeply to whiten discoloration at a cellular level. It prevents skin inflammation caused by habitual plucking, shaving or waxing. It fights sweat and body odor for up to 48 hours. It is alcohol-free, paraben-free, hypoallergenic and dermatologist tested. The result: Visibly lighter and smoother underarms in just 7 days.

PACKAGING

Comes in typical roll-on and aerosol spray packaging, each displays all necessary information like claims, ingredients, direction for use, cautions, expiry and manufacturing dates. The roll-on type comes in two sizes: 25 ml (P62.75) and 50 ml (P104.75). The aerosol only comes in a standard size with 140 ml of product and costs P199.75.

SCENT, TEXTURE AND EASE OF APPLICATION

Both has a sweet and clean-smelling scent. It lingers for quite a few hours until you perspire. I prefer the aerosol type because it's much more convenient to use and the product dries faster compared to the roll-on type. The product feels silky and smooth on the skin too, nothing sticky or irritating.

PERFORMANCE

Here goes the things I like about these. First, they smell really nice and they prevent odor for a very long time. I also noticed that my underarms perspire less whenever I have them on. The results were actually pretty much the same. I also like that they do not turn smelly even after I perspire unlike the ones from Dove. The latter actually defeats the purpose of me putting on deodorants. Belo Intense White Anti-Perspirant Deodorants both soften and hydrate my skin too. I like wearing black and white shirts and these did not stain my clothes as well.

The only bad thing I noticed though is that my skin seem to darken little by little. At first, I thought maybe I'm just having bad eye sight so I kept using it. It's very disappointing considering the claim of intense whitening. No matter how gentle they felt on skin, I just can't simply ignore the fact that there has been dark buildups on my pits.

Am I the only one who get excited whenever Belo releases a new product? Their whitening soaps are something I trust and up until now, I never fail to repurchase their Belo Intensive Whitening Bar with scrubs on it because I find it very multi-tasking. It's so efficient to use because I can do both cleansing and scrubbing with just one product. Now, here's another entry to the skincare line of Belo which I already tried after I made my purchase to SR.

Claims (as per Sample Room)

Harnessed from the power of nature, the new Belo Essentials Papaya not only brightens the skin, but also exfoliates with jojoba beads and helps the skin to be clear from pimples and other impurities with Beetox. Plus, it has an amazing and unique fruity scent that’s long-lasting and fresh. An herbal soap for the face and body. Expertly formulated. Dermatologist-tested. Use daily for best results.

This product has three main ingredients known to be responsible in making your skin look healthier and brighter. It has Natural Papaya Extract which has been a famous ingredient in local whitening soaps and has been scientifically proven to inhibit melanin production over time. It also has Purified Bee Venom which I've only encountered in Belo products and claims to battle pimples. This is safe to say that this soap is good enough for both face and body use. And lastly, it has Jojoba beads for mild physical exfoliation.

Packaging

The overall green and orange motif imparts a summer vibe. Since we are living in a tropical country, soaps like this look even more enticing. The box displays all necessary information such as claims and benefits, ingredient list ad expiration date.

Scent and Texture

The soap has a mild, sweet scent that lingers. It comes in typical orange soaps that's textured because of the Jojoba beads to help slough off dead skin cells. I usually opt soaps being applied in soft towels but because this soap is textured, I prefer to apply it directly on the skin. It saves me the hassle of reaching out for a messy-to-apply salt scrub.

Performance

Now, for the moment of truth. If you are looking for whitening products that delivers in such a short notice, I won't recommend this product to you. I have to be honest and recommend Kojic Soaps instead. I have two that I trust aside from Belo's: Kojie San's and Uni Kojic's. I like Belo Essentials Papaya Brightening + Clearing Soap all the same though. It's very gentle on the skin despite the presence of scrubs and it does not feel too drying unlike most whitening soaps. I think it's because the product has low foaming agents. The soap lathers well though not as foamy as other whitening soaps, to be honest.

After finishing one soap, I didn't really notice any significant whitening but my skin look really radiant and clean every after use. I tried using it on my face and it helps a bit in drying out existing breakouts. I don't think this soap must take the full credit since I am also using Clindamycin Solution on my face. I'm glad that this soap does not sting and cause me further redness and pimples though. The blemishes I got from last month's breakouts seemed to lighten a bit, it's probably an effect because my skin seem to look brighter than usual.

I am really glad and grateful to Belo for coming out with such a good and affordable maintenance product. Can you already feel summer? Weather's becoming even more hot and humid as time goes by! This is the moment everyone's been waiting for since it's the perfect season to go have summer escapades to deaden the summer heat! Unfortunately, this is also the time where our skin are more prone to damages because of the intense sun's rays. Good thing, I've discovered a sunblock which I can use  on a daily basis whatever the weather is without the dreaded white cast and sticky/greasy feeling.

I've know this baby for a long time already but I never got myself to splurge P450 for a single bottle of sunblock no matter how necessary they are. But because of Sample Room, I got one while rejoicing for the fact that I saved more or less a couple of hundred bucks.

Direction For Use

Housed in an amber-colored plastic bottle, it comes with a pump that I sometimes find hard to press. I probably just got a bottle with an issue but I don't believe every single of them would turn out like mine. The size is enough to make me bring it conveniently anywhere for quick touch ups. It also has a faint floral scent to it--nothing too bothersome or strangely off.

Texture, Consistency and Ease of Application

Compared to usual sunblock, Belo SunExpert SPF 50 PA+++ Transparent Mist is literally what it is. It is transparent in color, droopy in consistency and reminds me of oil in finish but so much thinner and more lightweight. It is thin enough to get absorbed by the skin with no problem and leaves a sheer glow that lasts. So if you're going to think about it, it's not just a sunscreen but a nice product to give skin a healthy sheen or bronze-like skin perfect to complement your most flattering swimming attire. If you are to use it on a daily basis, just the fact that it gives your skin a healthy boost of moisture plus protection is more than enough. 

Overall Thoughts

I had a good road testing period when Ate Rose asked me to accompany her to Divisoria. I wore comfortable clothing which Adrian described as something people would wear when they are just out to the wet market (shorts, t-shirts and flip flops). We left the house at around 10:00 AM that Wednesday morning and you can only imagine the heat when we arrived there at around noon time. So imagine we were there when the sun was the hottest. And though me bringing a single umbrella helped, we all had to share. I had felt my skin on my arms and legs tightened due to heat but we had to endure it for more than a couple of hours because Ate Rose wants to check out the stuff sold at bangketas. Because I was sweating hard and tired from all the walking, I insisted that we go shop at either 999 or 168 because if we don't, I might just collapse. Haha! Don't get me wrong, I can endure heat but it was so hot that day and we were there at noon.

Sorry, I just figure out how long my story was and I didn't even mention the sunscreen anywhere so what makes this a review, right? The point is, I never got tan lines anywhere on my body considering that I get burn easily. Though I was sweating a lot, the mist didn't feel greasy or sticky at all which I really find amusing. That's another factor I was looking for in a sunscreen. Another thing is that it gives my skin a layer of hydration that lasts. I have yet to figure out if this is really waterproof but since I do perspire anywhere in my body and the product did not seem to wear off, there's a good probability that this product really is.

What's even greater about it is that it's a sunscreen that you can spray one moment and then you're good to go. You don't have to wait a few minutes anymore before basking under the sun. See, nothing could hold you back with this! It's fairly mild, non-sting and paraben-free. If you are looking for a sunscreen that's lightweight, mild and effective, you've seen the right thing!

Not too long ago, Belo added a new product in their Intensive Whitening line, thanks to Sample Room, it was not too late for me to figure out. Since I all had very nice experiences with most of their products, without second thoughts, I decided to give Belo Intensive Whitening Kojic Acid + Tranexamic Acid Micropeeling Toner a try.

CLAIMS

The power of Kojic Acid + Tranexamic Acid in one intensive whitening toner. With micropeeling technology that gently clears away dead skin without visible peeling and flaking. Dermatologist Tested. Clinically Proven Effective. Paraben free. Non-comedogenic. Hypoallergenic. The result: Skin that's thoroughly fairer and smoother in just 7 days.

* Exfoliates skin to allow the whitening actives to penetrate deeper.

DIRECTION FOR USE

SCENT

It smells a little bit citrus-y which for me is pleasant and not at all overwhelming. I don't think those who are sensitive to scents will find this unbearably awful.

PERFORMANCE

Before I use this toner, I noticed that I had developed tiny white bumps all over my face and neck which is probably some result of stress due to work. I couldn't blame it for any other reasons though 'çause I also stopped using makeups and skin care alternately due to lack of time. I stopped using almost anything on my recent skin care routine as well including masks and creams and tried this toner along with my Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser and Belo Intensive Whitening Extra Moisture Bar with the hope that I'll get rid of the sudden breakouts. I wasn't seeing any hope for the first week and I felt like those which worked for my skin betrayed me. However, I started noticing significant effects on the succeeding weeks. Tiny bumps became less existent and my face became softer, smoother and more glowing. It looks like it has been renewed only without peeling, sting and redness. Two thumbs up for not causing me to break out!

This toner is tinted orange (which I presume is due to the Kojic Acid formula) and resembles the consistency of all toners. Once you started rubbing the cotton on your face, you will see excess oils and dirt on it which wasn't able to remove by your typical cleansers, leaving your skin feels squeaky clean and fresh without dryness. As for its lightening promises, I know I have to really use this for more months and consume lots of bottles before I see noticeable effects. Anyway, I like how it gives my skin instant bright complexion and that's already enough reason for continuous use.

OVERALL THOUGHTS

I love Belo Intensive Whitening Micropeeling Toner! Since I can't live without toners now, I think I will repurchase this one now that I am almost running out. Although this does not prevent oil, I like how it feels gentle on the skin while being tough in removing impurities from the skin. Sometimes, I feel like I don't have to put moisturizer on because this feels moisturizing on my skin already (I have super oily skin, guys). However, those with drier skin may opt to apply moisturizer afterwards. I highly recommend this to everyone especially to those who needs toner that gives a renewed look without undergoing painful treatments. It's affordable and there's nothing to lose!

Right after I heard Belo's launching  a new soap--which is, by the way, quite interesting with all the claims to be whitening but non-drying--I told myself that I should give that a try. I am not really into lightening my complexion right now but I am after making it more even toned. When Sample Room had this on their list, I immediately spent my points to get myself a bar together with the Belo Intensive Whitening Body Cream which, I think, is best when paired up. Anyway, in this blog post, I will be sharing my thoughts about this soap, it's pros and cons and everything in between! Keep on reading!

CLAIMS

BELO’s most intensive whitening bar yet that boasts of the unique combination of today’s two most powerful whitening actives. (1) Kojic Acid: An organic compound that effectively inhibits the production of tyrosinase and melanin, giving skin a visibly lighter appearance. (2) Tranexamic Acid: A peptide proven to inhibit inflammation and melanin formation. It is ideal for stubborn dark spots that do not respond to other skin lightening ingredients.

INGREDIENTS

TEXTURE

Since this is a glycerin-based soap, it's not as opaque as other bars. It's kinda jelly-looking and is tinted orange (due to Kojic) and a bit sticky when you try to smoothe your fingers to it. Surprisingly, this soap does not melt easily on soap dishes but you might want to cut them in tiny bars before use to prolong its life, which I did so this lasted me for more than two weeks.

APPLICATION

I am using the soap twice a day, twice per bath time to ensure accuracy of review. I usually let it sit on my skin for more or less 10 minutes and see for myself how much drying it can be (of if it won't dry it at all which is impossible, of course, for water can also suck out skin's moisture alone).

PERFORMANCE

The soap does not lather very much when applied so you really have to apply a few more times when you are cleaning your skin. Unlike other Kojic soaps, this does feels a bit less drying and won't irritate the skin. Sometimes, when I leave Kojic Acid Soaps on my skin over time, it gives me the wrinkled and taut skin and worse, itchiness and irritation happen. However, since this soap does not lather much on the skin, I feel like it does not do much in cleansing away all day's dirt and oil accumulated on it. With this, I still prefer the old Kojic Soap from Belo which lathers well enough to give me a squeaky clean feeling. Anyway, you can restore moisture by applying excessive amount of lotion afterwards. Still, I wouldn't ignore the fact that this soap is best for face usage because it feels very gentle on skin and won't contribute to parched pelts and breakouts.

Considering the tiny size  of this bar, I wouldn't have high expectations in terms of its lightening capabilities. However, it is effective in exfoliating the skin and bring out a brighter and even more radiant complexion and works better when paired with other Belo products.

OVERALL THOUGHTS

Overall, I would say that this soap is not bad at all, but is less effective than the old Belo Intensive Whitening Bar from Belo in terms of whitening the skin. However, if you have dry skin but still want to dry soaps that are Kojic Acid-based, then you might want to give this a try without the risk of getting excessive flaking of skin or dryness. This is safe to use whatever skin type you have and in my experience, didn't break me out.

Whatever the season is, I always make sure to keep my skin well-hydrated and healthy-looking. There's just this uncomfortable feeling whenever my skin feels taut and dry (they even look wrinkled!) and it makes me hate the thought of premature aging even more. And since I have mentioned premature aging, we all know that sun's harmful rays are the main cause not just of that ever-dreaded problem, but most skin troubles as well like hyper pigmentation and skin darkening. While I'm tempted to get a tan once in a while, bringing back the old complexion takes a lifetime. Best solution that would work for me, I guess? A body cream that keeps my skin soft, smooth, hydrated, bright and sun-protected without the sickly heavy feeling. Good thing, I have here my tube of Belo Intensive Whitening Body Cream that does all these without making me spend tons of bucks!

CLAIMS AND INGREDIENTS

PACKAGING

The packaging comes in white and orange combination--signature color of Belo Intensive Whitening line and it displays all necessary information such as claims, ingredient list, manufacturing and expiry dates, cautions, etc. I have always had this fondness in products that comes in tube-type packaging for easy dispensing of products and sanitary use. It's better than those that comes in bottles or pump bottles because scraping the product down to bottom is not at all possible. At least with tubes, all you need is some light tap and the liquid formula would slide off easily.

SCENT

The scent smells very fresh and clean just like most products from Belo. Those who are sensitive to scents will surely not find it any off-putting.

TEXTURE / CONSISTENCY / EASE OF APPLICATION

The product comes in a creamy white texture and the consistency is not too thick nor too runny. It's just like most drugstore lotions but what I like most about it is how it get absorb easily by the skin and you don't have to wait a long time before it fully dries. The formulation is very lightweight and you would not feel any greasiness afterwards. I have tried several lotions before and some of them feels really sticky once it combines with sweat and I did not experience it with Belo Body Cream.

PERFORMANCE

This body cream really moisturizes my skin effectively and keeps it glowing, soft and smooth. However, those with really dry and scaly skin may opt for something with thicker formulation--a lotion that's infused with, say, cocoa butter or oatmeal. But if you are someone like me who are not fond of using sticky lotions in day time, you would definitely like Belo Body Cream for it has whopping SPF 30 that would protect your skin when you're outdoor doing chores.

I am not after the whitening effect but I am looking forward t have a more even-toned skin, the reason why I opt for whitening lotions. I'm having bad cases of uneven skin tone as an aftermath of summer, unfortunately, so I'm in need of something that would balance my complexion. Using this for weeks with the thought that a miracle won't happen overnight (lol), I can see that it's able to give my skin that bright and glowing complexion. Although this product wasn't able to help me significantly yet in this department, I would still continue using this for more substantial effect.

In terms of its SPF, I highly suggest that you reapply especially once you perspire since the effectiveness might worn out after a few hours. Also, don't forget to use an umbrella and don't stay too long under the sun. Don't underestimate its power! I am using this lotion with the new glycerin-based soap of Belo and since they both have Kojic Acid as the primary ingredient, skin is more sensitive to the sun. I remember one night going home and after one tired day, I decided to take a bath only to figure out my arms turned darker than the area where I had my wrist watch on!

OVERALL THOUGHTS

I love Belo Intensive Whitening Body Cream Kojic Acid + Tranexamic Acid and I highly recommend it to everyone especially to those who are on the lookout for a cream that's lightweight, good-smelling, spf-based and effective in giving skin that bright and healthy aura! Just to let you know, Belo Intensive Whitening Body Cream Kojic Acid + Tranexamic Acid is widely available in leading drugstores, supermarkets and department stores nationwide!
