Mary Kay Timewise Matte Wear Liquid Foundation in Ivory 5 Review

Mary Kay Timewise Matte-Wear Liquid Foundation
Bought for: P392 | Original Price: P750
From: an online shop

I really like standing by until products I have been watching out for for the longest time get on sale. Last month, when this cult-fave foundation--the Mary Kay Timewise Matte-Wear Liquid Foundation--was sold at almost half of its original price, I didn't have to think twice and immediately grab one for myself. Just imagine the happiness of getting something authentic at such steal deal...oh, I think I don't have to explain. ;) More than anything else, I'm really ecstatic to have tried something others are long been raving about! To know more about this foundation, please keep on reading!

CLAIMS

Infused with vitamin E and a blend of peptides, the result is skin that instantly looks firmer, younger and healthier. It’s the perfect age-fighting foundation for combination to oily skin, visibly reducing the appearance of pores, fine lines, wrinkles and skin imperfections. It provides all-day shine control and oil control without a heavy makeup look or feel. It gives skin a long-lasting, matte finish. Color stays true hour after hour. In 23 skin-perfecting shades. Transfer- and humidity-resistant.

PACKAGING

Looks like the seller didn't pay attention on my request to pack the item properly before shipping out since I have to take a decent picture of the product. She ended up even writing my name on the box and not securing it with a bubble wrap so just please...excuse the slightly distorted box.

Anyway, the packaging is very simple and travel-friendly. The size of the tube wasn't even the size I expected. It's small and lightweight so it's suitable to bring on getaways. The shimmery light pink tube looks nice too. However, I am having a huge problem storing and dispensing the product since it tends to leak and create a mess with the screw cap. Comparing it to other tubes and bottles of foundations, I think Mary Kay didn't put much effort in the packaging, no worries though, as they did not compromise the quality of the foundation itself!

SHADE

It claims to be available in 23 shades but there are only few shade selections being sold here in the Philippines. Commonly they are Ivory 5, Beige 2, Beige 4 and Beige 5. I took the risk and picked up Ivory 5, taking in great consideration all hand swatches online, and surprisingly, I think I got the correct shade.

Ivory 5 is a light beige in shade and has a yellow undertone, perfect for Asian complexions. It didn't look pale after application and my face also doesn't look like it's not matching the color of my neck.

SCENT

There's slight detectable scent to it cause it's very subtle so I don't think anyone would find it a little overwhelming.

TEXTURE / CONSISTENCY / EASE OF APPLICATION

The foundation is a bit runny and consistency is thinner than most foundations that I have. The product dries fast (probably because it's oil free, thus the excellent absorbency power) so make sure to blend it before it dries in patches lol. I would say that you won't have to have awesome blending skills to be able to achieve a really nice and flawless finish because this foundation sets easily on the skin effortlessly without any greasy or heavy feeling. Your skin would feel like it has nothing on but would not impart too much of a bare feeling so it would still be something that is comfortable to wear no matter what the season is. The best thing is that it won't look cake-y and won't set on the folds of your skin even if it dries matte and shine-free.

COVERAGE

I provided swatches of the foundation above and from a very small amount, it was able to even out the skin tone, reduces the appearance of pores and reduce hyper pigmentation in an instant with the use of my Real Techniques Miracle Sponge. With one application, it's able to give skin a sheer coverage which is perfect if you want to sport a fresh and natural look and is buildable to medium if you apply some more. I don't prefer second layer though because the foundation would tend to look patchy. But if you are to do so, I highly suggest that you use a damp sponge all throughout to control the product easier and give it more time to move. Make sure to set it with a good setting powder to seal the foundation in place.

LONGEVITY

After a good 4 hours (with no retouch), my face is as oily as how it used to but it does not feel greasy or sticky and I'm not having any issues with comfort in wearing. Although, I can say that once I oil up pretty bad, the foundation tends to transfer onto where it touches first--whether on tissue papers or on my cloth and even on my oil blotting papers, thus, the need to retouch with powder. However, I notice that my foundation is as good as new after I blot out excess oils, so it stands strong, I dare say. Good job! It still needs some hard work before we discover a drugstore foundation that does not oxidize on the oiliest of skin, but I'm glad I found Mary Kay Timewise Matte Wear Liquid Foundation!

OVERALL THOUGHTS

It's really nice having makeups with skin care benefits on it so they tend to do multiple stuff on the skin. It's a good thing Mary Kay incorporate makeups on their anti-aging line for people like me who are too lazy to put a lot of stuff on the face. This foundation is highly recommended to all of you who are looking for affordable foundations with good coverage, lightweight finish and skin care benefits. For girls who have drier skin type, use the luminous variant which are more hydrating but as they say, same coverage and as awesome formulation as the matte wear variants.

Have you tried Mary Kay Timewise Matte Wear Liquid Foundation? Any thoughts?
