Pond's Anti-Bacterial Refreshing Face Mist Review

I've been binge-watching Love Alarm but I'm against the couple who will end up together so I'm turning my phone off and out of frustration, here's comes an entry to this blog. I'll share my quick review of Pond's Anti-Bacterial Refreshing Face Mist (50ml/P100) which I got together with Pond's Anti-Bacterial Facial Foam a few months back.

There's nothing really fancy on the way it looks but I appreciate the minimalist design. I think it's very neat. It's also small so it's quite handy but sometimes I mistook it for my alcohol spray bottle. LOL. All the information and claims are printed in the back part, as well as the ingredient list.

Pond's Anti-Bacterial Refreshing Face Mist
Fresh and protected from germs instantly. Refreshing face mist with Skin Defense Technolog, 100% organic roses and 5 vitamins. Fits 99.9% germs on skin for fresh, clean and healthy glowing skin - even when wearing mask. Gentle on skin. 0% alcohol.

I do believe that Pond's develop their anti-bacterial range to cater to the most common skin problem we experience nowadays: maskne. I am thankful to be working at home now because I don't have to commute and wear face masks. I remember some time in June when I was asked to report onsite and my face itches every now and then. I get breakouts on areas where face masks could cover so despite the discomfort, it's the only thing that saves me from people who would stare at my skin. Up to now, they still left blemishes especially on my lower cheek, chin and jaw area.

Now that I'm working from home, it doesn't guarantee that I am safe from germs and bacteria. Having face mists that are anti-bacterial is genius because it kills even before microorganisms invade your inner system.

Pond's Anti-Bacterial Refreshing Face Mist has a floral scent because of the natural rose extract. Some may probably find it off-putting but I like it. It's very refreshing on the skin and is quite hydrating too. It reduces dryness and dark patches and most of all, helps in keeping the skin clear and prevents infections. Depends on your usage, one bottle may not last you a long time. Mine only lasted for about a week but that's because I was so into it that I apply it multiple times everyday. I guess it just kind of became a habit just like how spraying alcohol has been in our daily lives.

Nature Republic Aloe Vera 92% Soothing Gel Mist Review

I woke up very early today which is unusual. It's summer in the Philippines and the temperature soars up to 33° at 8:00 AM. Ugh. I had a hard time sleeping too because of the anxiety I am feeling since I'll probably resume working on the 15th. I couldn't wait to go back because I'm running out of funds but at the back of my mind, I am hoping for an extension. This community quarantine is a miracle in disguise for workaholics like mom and I as we're finally able to get some rest. Apart from that, it scares the hell out of me every time I think of the possibility of acquiring COVID-19. It still isn't safe as long as the antidote is nonexistent.

My apology for the early morning sentiments! By the way, I'm making the most out of my remaining days at home so here's a quick review on a mist that I have been using alternately with St. Ives Yaaas! Face Mist Happy Grapefruit. I've been using the Nature Republic quite longer than the one from St. Ives and it took me a couple of months to give a feedback but later is better than never, don't you think? Haha!

CLAIMS

Ah, how refreshing! Made from 92% Aloe Vera gel, Nature Republic Aloe Vera 92% Soothing Gel Mist is enriched with vitamins and is great for keeping the skin hydrated, soothed and cool throughout the day. The Aloe Vera used to make this product comes from certified organic farmers in California (CCOF) and is kind to even the most sensitive of skins, making this suitable for all skin types. Whether you like using this to set your makeup or to stay chill on a hot day, this is a definite must-have in your beauty routine!

INGREDIENTS

Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract (92%), Alcohol, Glyceryl Polyacrylate, Dipropylene Glycol, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Propylene Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Polyglutamic Acid, Betaine, Sodium Hyaluronate, Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract, Mentha Viridi (Spearmint) Extract, Melissa Officinalis Extract, Carbomer, Peg-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Polyester-5, Polyquaternium-51, Triethanolamine, Phenoxyethanol, Water, Parfum, Disodium EDTA

Nature Republic Aloe Vera 92% Soothing Gel Mist has three (3) key ingredients namely:  Aloe Vera Extract that soothes, cools and refreshes the skin; Hyaluronic Acid that hydrates to keep the skin plump and elastic and Calendula Flower Extract that improves blood circulation and reduces the appearance of scars and wrinkles.

PACKAGING

Nature Republic Aloe Vera 92% Soothing Gel Mist comes in a green plastic bottle with necessary information such as the claims, ingredients, directions for use, as well as the expiration date of the product. It comes with 150 ml amount of mist, just like the one from St. Ives but I find this one too bulky and definitely not what I would reach out for travelling. I am also not a fan of the spritz bottle because is dispenses the liquid in droplets rather than fine mists. So you won't end up with soaking wet face, hold the bottle 10-15 cm away or much farther and then fan your face or gently pat it in to absorb the product.

SCENT, CONSISTENCY AND EASE OF APPLICATION

It has a subtle Aloe Vera scent that isn't offensive to sensitive noses. I like it actually. The mist itself is gel-like rather than water-like and it's due to the high AV concentration. That makes it feel more hydrating to the skin. Despite the thicker consistency, it's easily absorbed by the skin.I think this mist is a great priming moisturizer but not as a setting spray. I find that the droplets makes my foundation move around. Those that sprays more finely are much preferred.

PERFORMANCE

Nature Republic Aloe Vera 92% Soothing Gel Mist is an good product for its price. I like how cooling and refreshing it is and how helpful it can be to dry, thirsty summer skin. In a tropical country, heat is very intense so it's nice to stock up on products like this. Moreover, it is free from parabens, mineral oil, and artificial colors making it suitable for any skin type. I like how it gives me that soft, dewy skin every after application. It's not exactly my favorite mist but it's worth it for its inexpensive price. The best thing - no breakouts! Just don't use it on peeling, broken skin because it might sting a bit.

And by the way, I'm pretty sure that there are counterfeits circulating online so make sure to buy only at reputable stores and resellers. Best sellers always have imitations. The nerves of these copycats LOL. I guess that's pretty much everything. Have you tried Nature Republic Aloe Vera 92% Soothing Gel Mist? Care to share your thoughts?

St. Ives Yaaas Face Mist in Happy Grapefruit Review

Here's a brief review on a new product from one of my favorite skincare brands, St. Ives. I'm not really sure whether or not it's new in the global market or it has been everywhere and I just missed it. Knowing commercial brands who migrates to online selling, sometimes what you think is new has been out in the market for quite awhile. I've never been to the drugstore lately so pardon me if this is a mistake. Nonetheless, it was only recently when I saw this on St. Ives Shopee account - it was on sale - so I grabbed it.

St. Ives Facial Mists collection comes in three variants: Zing! Face Mist Energizing Orange, Ohmmm...Face Mist Relaxing Lavender and Yaaas! Face Mist Happy Grapefruit. This particular variant sells out the fastest, at least based on where I bought it from. It was sold out in less than 3 minutes from the time it went on a flash deal.

CLAIMS

Brighten your day with St. Ives hydrating face mists, made with fragrances designed to provide mood-boosting benefits. Spritz YAAAS for an instant boost of happy thanks to vibrant notes of grapefruit, peach, and orange. Get glowing with good vibes! Made with 100% natural hydrators. Paraben-free. Dermatologist tested. Cruelty-free.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Close your eyes and mist 10-12 inches away from skin, before or after make-up for hydrated, glowing skin (think face setting spray!). Spray throughout the day while on the go.

PACKAGING

I like the colorful packaging and the presence of too much visuals is very playful but not irritating to the eyes. It sprays on well and the long, slim bottle is sturdy and travel-friendly.

SCENT, CONSISTENCY AND EASE OF APPLICATION

This product has a strong citrus scent. The smell of grapefruit is very prominent. It lingers for quite a while then gradually disappears after a few minutes. I like it to be honest however, it's heavily fragranced that those with sensitive noses may find offensive.

The consistency is water-like. It feels refreshing upon spritz and it also hydrates the skin very effectively. Thanks to the combination of natural hydrators it's equipped with. This product absorbs easily without any stickiness or discomfort.

OVERALL PERFORMANCE

I'm not really into face mists but with this kind of temperature we have during summer, I find myself reaching out to this product more often than usual. My skin feels drier and tighter probably because of the heat so it's nice to have a bit of refreshment and hydration at the same time. It's quite inexpensive for a 120 ml bottle so I wouldn't mind repurchasing over and over.

St. Ives Spritz A Little Yaaas Facial Mist can be used under and over makeup for a natural, dewy finish! It's very lightweight and the best thing - I did not breakout from using it! The list of ingredients is very minimal and I do not find them threatening to any skin types. After finishing my first bottle, I'm planning to buy the Lavender variant next! So what do you think of this product from St. Ives? Good or not?

Laneige Water Bank Hydro Mist Review

Laneige Water Bank Hydro Mist
Bought for: P910/150 ml
Bought from: Althea Korea

Don't you think summer's just too intense that skin felt as if it's too dry like Sahara's? I have oily skin and dryness just almost sound impossible but lately, because of the intense heat and probably it comes with aging too, my skin feels tighter than usual. I'm starting to feel the need to spray on some moisture from time to time to hydrate. Getting this Laneige Water Bank Hydro Mist during my previous shopping in Althea Korea is a blessing. Now I have something to use whenever I need an instant boost of hydration.

CLAIMS

Key Point: Mineral water extracted from vegetables strengthens the skin barrier and moisturizes dry skin.

  • Green mineral hydro water builds up and moisturizes the skin. Green mineral hydro water from Kale, Water cress, Beet root refills the moisture all day long and maintains moist skin.
  • Immediate provision of rich moisture with mist spray pump. French mist spray pump delivers fine particles of moisture to the skin and immediately provides plentiful moisture to dry skin.
  • Deep and rich moisture with Ocean Brew method. Extracted with Independent Ocean Brew method(15℃/5hours), it provides full moisture that doesn’t dry up.

Purpose: You can use Water Bank Hydro Mist whenever you need moisture cream. It can be used even on the face with makeup.

Indications and Usage: With eyes closed, spray the mist while 20-30 centimeters away from the face. Feel free to spray on the entire face whenever it feels dry.

PACKAGING

Product comes with a box and a flyer that has the information you need to know about the product such as claims, directions for use and ingredients. It's great because there's not much information about the product on the bottle itself. The spray mist was developed in France and it pumps fine mists on the face. This is the very first mist I've tried that doesn't soak my face with too much liquid. Overall, the bottles looks so cool with that transparent blue bottle and acrylic cap. Not very ideal for travel but still handy.

SCENT, CONSISTENCY AND EASE OF APPLICATION

The product has a very nice, subtle scent that goes away after a few seconds. Again, application is very easy as the spray pump dispenses very fine mists on the skin and provides instant hydration. The mists comes in clear, water texture that is easily absorbed without leaving any greasy feeling.

PERFORMANCE

I love the fact that this is a mist that I can spray anywhere and anytime of the day. I consider mists a multitasking product because not only they prep and hydrates skin, they also set makeups and prevent caking. Laneige Water Bank Hydro Mist leaves skin not just refreshed but healthy too because of the active ingredients. It has Green Mineral Water that's extracted from vegetables for a dewy, hydrated look. Personally, I like using it as a setting spray because using it prior to skincare makes my face super oily and it seems like whatever I put on next seems to be taking too much time to get absorbed. Using it right after everything yields the better results.

On days I don't prefer wearing any makeups, I use this after cleansing to hydrate the skin and then would proceed with my toner. These are the days I'm skipping moisturizer. The mist is already too hydrating for an additional step so that's why.

If you are looking for a mist to refresh the skin, you must try this Laneige Water Bank Hydro Mist. A little goes a long way and I assure you, you're next to clearer and plumper skin!

Moisturizer and Makeup Primer in one: Hello Gorgeous Rose Face Mist

Hello Gorgeous Face Mist
Bought for: Sale Price | SRP: Now P240
Bought from: Hello Gorgeous

CLAIMS

A multi-benefit spray infused with real rose petals to hydrate and care for your complexion. Can be used to tone, moisturize, and prime skin prior to makeup application; softens, smoothens, and conditions skin with antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-aging properties of rose water; removes excess oil and lifts away dirt and bacteria with witch hazel extract; energizes, revitalizes, and refreshes the face with peppermint essential oil. Perfect for normal, oily, and acne-prone skin.

I've tried a few products from Hello Gorgeous and it was a hit and miss. This time I will be reviewing one of their bestsellers--Rose Face Mist. I first got familiar with the brand because of Beautymnl and their products are always featured in the top picks category for local products. I ended up buying it in Lazada when they had a major sale. After almost emptying one bottle, here goes my review...

PACKAGING

HG packaging are very simple but so chic and fab, don't you think? The fonts and graphics are super cute that it's possibly one of those local brands who has the most aesthetically pleasing design of packaging. The nozzle dispenses product in high pressure so the droplets are released in fine mist rather than spurts. It also displays all necessary information like claims, ingredients, and directions for use as well as expiration and manufacturing dates. I've noticed that their mists have longer shelf life than regular skincare products which is good especially if you don't use mists often.

SCENT, TEXTURE AND EASE OF APPLICATION

Hello Gorgeous Rose Face Mist has a strong Rose scent that others may find off-putting. I don't mind since I am not very particular with natural scented products and rose scents calms my senses.

The formulation is very similar to water and is clear in color. It sets almost matte on clean, bare skin and a few more spray is needed to achieve a natural dewy, healthy-looking complexion. It feels lightweight and non-sticky. I don't have any problem with how it sets because it does not make my skin so oily on midday.

PERFORMANCE
This is indeed a multi-tasking product that I use as a first layer of hydration right after I cleanse my skin and as a first step in makeup. It does its job in hydrating and prepping the skin for better absorption of the product you're gonna apply next. I also try bringing it to work or when I go outdoor to freshen up--something we need in this hot and humid country. I just don't think it's a good setting spray though because I would prefer something that dispense finer mists that won't wash away makeup or make it move around.

Overall, this is a great facial mist that is very handy and convenient to use and is formulated only with natural ingredients that are proven to take care of the skin. What's even better is that it's priced at a reasonable amount so your wallet won't go bankrupt. :D

Let me know what you think of Hello Gorgeous Rose Face Mist! Happy blogging!

Avene Eau Thermale Spring Water Review

Avene Eau Thermale Spring Water, 300 ml
SRP: $18.50 | Around P1000
Also available in 50 ml (around P500) and 150 ml (around P750) cans

When I was in grade school (about 10-12 years old), we had a neighbor who brought me a bottle of Evian Brumisateaur Spray and it took me months before I decided to use it. It was too late because I figured out it has expired a long time ago. Now that I know how much a single can cost, I could only hate myself for being so ignorant back then (lol). I was already familiar with drugstore products during that time but it was my very first time owning something in an expensive-looking can that's basically only has water in it. I was clueless on what's so special about it. Just why did I not know what I know now!

I bought the biggest can from an online seller who's trying to declutter some of his unused but brand new stuff and I was lucky I got the last can at such a great price. The seller has lots of positive feedbacks from previous transactions and all of them claimed that his products are all genuine. I only added up to his satisfied customers!

Claims/Benefits

- Clinically shown to soothe, soften and calm skin
- Reduces skin sensitivity and helps restore skin balance
- Soothes redness
- Calms itching sensations
- Safe for infants, children and adults

- Low mineral content: Does not dry out the skin
- Ideal calcium/magnesium ratio: Helps to improve skin texture
- Rich in silicates: Softens skin
- Rich in trace elements: Restores the epidermal barrier
- Neutral pH: 7.5

Biological Properties

- Rich in key substances (LPS, amino acids, sugars) from Aqua Dolomiae microflora1: Calms itching sensations and irritation2

Packaging

Product comes sealed and also has a really huge information booklet attached and it has literally everything you would want to know about this product (written in both French and English). Even from the body of the can itself, you'll know a lot of stuff about it, making it even more enticing to use on a daily basis. I just have this weird hobby of going over and over product's information to kill time while I'm applying the product itself to my skin. I don't care even if it's for the first or the twentieth time. I don't know the psychology behind it, but the more I read the labels, the more I enjoy and believe its wonders.

The 300ml can is such a great amount for household use. Everyone in the house can take turns in using it though it's an absolute hassle if you bring it to your getaways. Purchasing the smaller can would be a smarter move.

The atomizer is great too. Pressing and dispensing product is real smooth and it ejects fine mists in wide angles enough to cover a large area of the skin.

Texture, Consistency and Ease of Application

The product consists of nothing but pure water. What made it special is it's unique and rich composition of only the pure Avene Thermal Spring Water and Nitrogen (what's pushing the stuff out). The water came from France and is being treated with utmost TLC just as much as how we take care of our skin. It also has a long history that even dates back to the 18th century. The product is dedicated especially to those with sensitive skin as it was used even way back for the healing and treatment of a lot of skin conditions like atopic dermatitis, rosacea, psoriasis and eczema, to name a few.

Avene Thermal Spring Water has low mineral content which makes it effective in softening and soothing the skin. The water dries as fast as how normal waters would but compared to typical mineral waters, Avene is non-drying and surprisingly hydrating to the skin.

Performance

I was extremely breaking out the past couple of months so I resorted to gentle skin care products. I also decided to buy Avene Eau Thermale Spring Water to soothe and calm my skin as everything I put in seems to sting a bit. I know that stinging can be an indicator of how damaged my skin is. After a week of religious use, my skin felt softer and calmer. Although I still have ripe breakouts everywhere, Avene seemed to help restore the sheen on my skin. My skin looks more well-rested and plump and breakouts were less itchy. I also am using it as a toner and moisturizer after cleansing during some days when I want to minimize my routine. I find that giving myself a day or two of zero-makeup and less skincare heals my skin even faster.

On a daily basis, I make sure to spray on my Avene Eau Thermale Spring Water before and after applying my makeup to keep my skin hydrated and my makeup intact. It does not do much in terms of longevity, but I love how it works to prevent cakiness and a flat matte finish.

I wouldn't characterized my skin as sensitive but because I have super oily and acne-prone skin, using gentle products like this really helps in calming breakouts, faster healing and preventing long-term damages too. I would surely repurchase and I couldn't wait to recommend this to my friends who have sensitive skin!

E.L.F. Cosmetics Hydrating Gel Mist Review

Elf Cosmetics Hydrating Gel Mist
Bought for: Sale at $3.20 | SRP: $8
Bought from: Elf Cosmetics

I know that mists exists like way before I started collecting makeups and skin care but I just recently made myself used to it. I have been using and loving balmy or silicon-y primers but never dare incorporate mists on my everyday makeup. Late bloomer as I always am, I did think it was a futile, unnecessary step until I crave for something that would seal in all my skincare before applying the usual base. On most days I'm too lazy to apply my (self-curated) skincare, I resort to few mists I have because they act like a toner, moisturizer and makeup primer in one. That's just how lazy I can become. And just recently, I have been loving this Elf Cosmetics Hydrating Gel Mist I got from my previous Elf Cosmetics Haul for a bucketload of reasons.

Packaging

Elf is known as one of the best drugstore brands producing award-winning makeups in high quality packaging, you won't ever think it's priced as what it is. This jelly spritz comes in a transparent hard plastic bottle, clear enough for you to get a glimpse of what's inside. Seriously, the bottle looks so glam that you wouldn't think it's only $3.20 or less than P200 when converted to PHP. More information is printed on the box such as the ingredients lists also claiming that it's free from parabens, sulfates and pthalates known as harmful fillers.

Texture, Scent and Ease of Application

The gel mist is slightly tinted blue green (reminds me of sea water) and probably because of the color, it appears more refreshing and my skin seems to crave that especially we're in a tropical country. The refreshing sweet scent is adorable too. The spritz dispenses product well though not really in fine mists unlike what I have expected. The drops it produces are visible enough to make me see that the jelly inside does not really turn to liquid when dispensed. Although it looks like it was crushed jellies from the inside, it doesn't feel solid when it gets contact with the skin. Instead it melts easily like how it's supposed to be. It'st just lightweight and non-sticky and does not clog my pores.

The mist dries in a semi-matte finish, leaving the oily skin sufficiently hydrated. Though those with dry, flaky skin may opt to apply more than the usual to reach the desired moisture level.

Performance

Mists are very versatile that you can use it to moisturize and prime your skin. Since this product does not really dispense in fine mists, I use it as an added moisturizer and primer underneath base makeup.  I like the fact that it somehow lessen the dewiness of my skincare and somehow acts like a barrier so my skincare and makeup does not interfere with each other. I don't use it as a setting spray post-foundation and powder because the huge drops tends to trap and move makeup instead of sealing them in.

This is a really nice mist from Elf that you can use even on bare skin to prep, refresh and nourish it. My greatest use for this is the fact that it cuts my skin care routine from prolly 6 down to 3. Convenience, it is. In terms of lengthening makeup, don't compare it to your realible primers because it won't perform as nicely. My skin oils up as easily as it usually gets and even most of my makeup wears off in about 6 hours without a primer.

This is a really nice hydrating mist that can be used on a daily basis considering its price point and the amount that you'll get. I'll surely try other mists from Elf and hope they are at par or even better than this!
