Hortaleza Professional Hair Spa Treatment Review

As a beauty product junkie *ehem*, I always drop by the beauty stores at every possible chance I get. Either I buy some stuff I might be able to blog about or just because I wanted to discover something new. The thing which I will be doing a review on today is a new discovery for me.

Two months ago, I had my hair dyed in my go-to salon. I also had their keratin treatment as recommended by one of the hairdressers and she also advised me to come back every month for maintenance. This is basically to get rid of rough and frizzy hair due to strong chemicals found in hair dyes. I know you're all aware of that or already has the idea if you color your hair that frequent.

That being said, I honestly could not afford to get my hair pampered that often (still schooling, you know). So I head to the HBC store this one time, the nearest one from my place, to find something which I could use for my do-it-yourself hair treatment. I love DIYS. The thing with DIYS, first, no more overspending, plus you can play with and/or customize the mix depends on what you need, and sometimes you could even discover something new from it.

Anyway, one of the HBC staff told me that this Hortaleza Professional Hair Spa Treatment is best for color-treated, rebonded and straightened hair. They told me how effective this product is which I initially thought was only said to get a sale from me. Can you believe my trust issues? Kidding! But yeah, there's always a place for doubt unless you actually tried things yourself. I wasn't disappointed, mind you.

Thanks to them I got the chance to try the magic of this product! And I wanna thank them as well for patiently answering my questions until I finally gave in and bought the product. They are very accommodating. Always have been.

Hortaleza Professional Hair Spa Treatment is available in 20g sachets (less than PHP20 I think?), 250g tub (for PHP153) and 500g tub (which retails for around PHP200-PHP300). Should I have known that HBC has a bigger size, I would have bought that instead. Buying the bigger one is the more practical option.

*I poured some honey on it for better effects, thus the color.

What I like:
  • The price. It's very affordable  at just PHP153.
  • It surely would last a long time. I bought it two months ago, and it's still half full. Of course, the frequency of usage is a big factor. Once a week is recommended or just when you feel like your hair needs a boost of moisture.
  • Consistency is thick and easy to distribute to the hair and scalp.
  • The smell. Even after two days, the smell still lingers in my hair! It's just so sad that I need to use it only once a week. I'm actually tempted to switch to this one as my conditioner. LOL.
  • The effect. I love how it makes my hair feels so soft and smooth that you can't tell you've only had a DIY treatment! Looks like my hair is as soft as when I was just out from a salon session.
  • Exclusively available at HBC stores nationwide.

What I don't like:
  • It has parabens. Although it's not yet clear whether parabens are unsafe or not, it still has a bit of an effect on me.
