Watching Our Planet on Netflix made me realize that there are far worse things to worry than Covid-19. I highly recommend that you watch the documentary so you can be more familiar with the beauty of our wildlife, at the same time, the ongoing imbalance. It makes me love the environment more and hope for a better world. So I just finished the documentary and now, I couldn't think of any productive thing to do. Long story short, I'll just make a review about Laneige Water Bank Gel Cream to ease my boredom. LOL.
CLAIMS
Laneige Water Bank Gel Cream is a cooling, moisture-rich cream to rescue dry, dehydrated skin. It is infused with Hydro Ionized Mineral Water and Biogen technology; lightweight gel cream delivers long-lasting moisture while strengthening skin’s natural protective barrier to lock in hydration; cools and soothes upon application with Winter Cypress Polysaccharide Extract, which lowers skin temperature by 2.4°C; leaves skin shine-free and soft. It is perfect for skin prone to dry patches.
INGREDIENTS
Water, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Squalane, Dimethicone, Bis-PEG-18 Methyl Ether Dimethyl Silane, Dicaprylyl Ether, Pentaerythrityl Tetraethylhexanoate, Cyclopentasiloxane, Sucrose Polystearate, Cyclohexasiloxane, Urea, Chenopodium Quinoa Seed Extract, Magnesium Sulfate, Zinc Sulfate, Manganese Sulfate, Calcium Chloride, Ascorbyl Glucoside, Salicornia Herbacea Extract, Propanediol, Xanthan Gum, Glyceryl Stearate, Myristyl Myristate, Tribehenin, Stearic Acid, Palmitic Acid, Glyceryl Undecylenate, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, PEG-100 Stearate, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Cetearyl Alcohol, Inulin Lauryl Carbamate, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Glyceryl Caprylate, Ethylhexylglycerin, Tromethamine, Disodium EDTA, Fragrance
PACKAGING
Like most (if not all) Laneige products, this particular moisturizer right here comes in a sapphire blue cardboard box with very little information about the product, oops, scratch that! Upon opening, there's a mini paper flyer that has all the information about it. I only remembered now but I must've thrown it away since this post is long overdue. I've finished this product about a month ago prior to writing this so. Anyway, my experience is still fresh like it was only yesterday. LOL.
The packaging is very beautiful, I would say. It comes in a blue glass jar and makes it vanity-worthy. It has a weight to it so I would say that this is non travel-friendly. I would advise to decant a small amount in sanitized, small plastic jars if you would like to bring it to travels. For sanitary purposes, it comes with a tiny plastic spatula - as always, I end up throwing them. I think having a spare applicator is less sanitary because it get exposed to the air more frequently and it takes extra effort cleaning them more than using our own bare fingers.
SCENT, CONSISTENCY AND EASE OF APPLICATION
The cream has a thin gel-like texture and a clean, fresh scent. It applies evenly on the skin and is very absorbent. A little would go a long way so I'm sure that you are getting your money's worth. If you run out, I believe that there are sample sachets available which you can purchase for less.
Instead of oily skin, you will have a fresh, dewy finish with Laneige Water Bank Gel Cream. This is perfect if you are aiming for a glass-like skin. I like that this cream isn't thick at all and it doesn't warm up my skin even more in this scorching weather. My skin can breathe freely from underneath, my pores aren't blocked and I also did not break out from using this product. This is a moisturizer that you can layer under makeup and won't make you base patchy/cakey.
PERFORMANCE
For what it's worth, I think this product is popular for a reason. I use this cream as my day time moisturizer in conjunction with Maxipeel Exfoliant #3. I think they are a good combination because I did not experience any adverse reaction. The first thing I had in mind when I chose my moisturizer during the 2-month exfoliation, is that it should be alcohol and acid-free. Why? Because I have oily skin and I believe that using too much drying products won't do any good. Also, it's a rule of the thumb that you can't use 2 exfoliation products altogether.
So with this, I have to be more cautious and make sure to use gentler products whenever I'm using something infused with stronger chemicals. Aside from its drying nature, I noticed that skincare with alcohol causes my face to sting more. Using Laneige Water Bank Gel Cream makes the whole redness-purging-peeling process a lot more tolerable. For that, I'm thankful that I have it in my stash.
The only thing that I am contemplating about as to whether or not I would repurchase is the fact that it's only best to use for skin balance and hydration. Other than that, this product has not much use for me who have oily, pimple-prone skin with large pores. You cannot expect it to lighten the skin or your blemishes nor heal existing pimples and acne. It won't prevent them from coming either. However, one thing I can say is that this would do as a good maintenance cream for non-textured, less problematic skin. It definitely will keep your skin hydrated for long, suppleness restored without the greasy look.
