Sigma Beauty F10 Powder/Blush Brush Review

Sigma Beauty F10 Powder/Blush Brush
Bought for: $25 (approx. P1348)
Bought from: Sigma Beauty

Okay, I swear, this is going to be my last entry for today. I'm just trying to be productive before I go to work later. I'll be busy again next week so I hope you'd understand. Anyway, this blog will be about one of my favorite brushes and something I've been reaching out the most recently - Sigma Beauty F10 Powder/Blush Brush. It's one of the brand's bestsellers, I believe, and I got it from a set.

CLAIMS

Get your classic flush with this beveled SigmaTech® fiber essential by placing color on apples of the cheeks, or use with powder all over.

Function: Precise placement of blush
Unique Feature: Very soft and slightly beveled
Recommended Use: Use for powder application
Coverage: Medium

This blush brush comes in black/chrome finish which is pretty standard in makeup brushes. I like that it looks so presentable but still professional. The handle is very sleek and sturdy and it has a weight to it. The bristles are black so if it stains, it will not affect the overall look. The price is steep at $25 but I think it's worth it. This brush doesn't shed at all and despite regular washing and usage, it's able to keep its shape. The bristles doesn't flare out at all.

I mainly use this brush to apply blush and I like that its fluffy so it disperse colors in my cheeks in a natural, diffused way. It doesn't move makeup underneath too which is a good thing. Another thing this brush is good for is setting under eye makeup. It's quite pressed so it fits even tiny corners like the eyes. Also, this brush is good for removing powders during baking. It works well though I must admit, I reach out for my sweep brush more frequently than this. I'm just saying that this is truly versatile and is highly a recommended brush from Sigma.

Let me know what you think of this brush by listing your comments down below! Happy blogging!

Ecotools 360 Ultimate Blend Makeup Brush Set Review

Ecotools 360 Ultimate Blend Makeup Brush Set
Bought for: P890
Bought from: Ecotools

Hello, everyone! Today, we'll be talking about some Ecotools brushes I got a few months ago - the Ecotools 360 Ultimate Blend Makeup Brush Set which is basically composed of three brushes that are just the same in features but different in purpose and size. Initially, I was so excited when I got this set because as you all know, I love makeup brushes especially those that are dense and is meant for base makeup. Anyway, these ones aren't exactly what I expected them to be and here's why.

CLAIMS

The 360 ULTIMATE BLEND™ kit is designed with 3 densely packed, domed brush heads for a quick application and a perfectly blended finish.

Brushes Included: Ultimate Buff (apply cream or stick foundation and blend in a circular motion), Ultimate Pop (blend cream or stick blush and bronzer for a sculpted, airbrushed finish) and Ultimate Cover (for added definition, apply concealer or highlighter to apples of cheeks, bridge of nose and arch of brows).

Brushes comes in pink handles with the names printed on it. It's very similar to paddle brushes except it's round to the top and the name is quite fitting because you can move it around so easily. The brushes have weight to it - quite light on the handle and is heavy at the brush head part which is intended for added pressure I guess. It must be because of the density of the bristles too. Overall, the packaging looks very sturdy and in terms of production and materials used, these brushes are a little above the rest from Ecotools. There's very minimal fallouts with these brushes but yeah, from time to time, they do.

So as I understand, the biggest one is for blending of base makeup, the medium one is for bronzing while the small one is for concealing and highlight. It's funny because I imagine and gave them each a different purpose. On first use, I use the medium one to apply my foundation then set it with a  pressed powder using the large one. The reason is that I was overwhelmed with the size of the buff brush so I opted for the smaller one to target hard to reach areas. I, then, used the smallest brush for concealing and guess what, they don't work for that purpose.

With few uses, I finally discovered where they work best. The ultimate buff is best for powder foundations both pressed and loose mineral products. I like that the size is huge so it covers a great amount of surface area. However, it doesn't really lessen blending time. I like how it makes my base look airbrushed but I don't like how the brush feels during application. It tugs the skin and I feel like I'm punching my face with this brush. Also, despite the density, it leaves streaks on the skin whether it's powder or liquid.

The same thing goes with the ultimate pop and ultimate cover. I thought the ultimate pop would work well for foundations given the size but it doesn't. I used it to blend my under eye concealer but all it did was leave streaks plus it stresses the skin underneath my eyes. I also find some of the hairs scratchy. And oh, it also absorbs a great amount of liquid product. It sort of work for powder contour and bronzer but you have to be patient in blending because IT. FREAKIN. TAKES. TIME.

The ultimate cover is completely pointless in my opinion. It's just like the ultimate pop but is way smaller. It doesn't work as a concealer brush and neither as highlighter brush. It might work with stick highlighter but the shape, size and the density of the brush is not very ideal as a highlighting brush. I personally would reach for my fan brushes because they work better and is more ergonomic.

So there. I'm quite disappointed with this brush set from Ecotools. Some did like these brushes but I just can't. Anyway, let me know if you have any ideas to make these work! Have a great day!

Ecotools Complexion Buffer Brush Review

Ecotools Complexion Buffer Brush
Bought for: P398
Bought from: Ecotools

Here's another brush review from Ecotools! I've been loving this brand and its brushes lately that every time I had the chance, I pick up a brush or two or if I have more budget, I pick up some sets just because their brushes are inexpensive but of quality. Going back, today, I will be sharing a brief review on Ecotools Complexion Buffer Brush which is one of the things I bought last September.

CLAIMS

The Complexion Buffer is designed with a flat, blunt bristle cut to evenly apply, blend and buff product for a streak-free finish.

Using the flat top of brush, buff product across face using small circular motions. For more definition around cheeks, use the outside rim of the bristles and blend out toward hairline.

This brush has a flat top and is meant for the application of pressed or loose powders. It comes with a sturdy bamboo handle which is I like for it's eco-friendly and the bristles are cruelty-free. It's made of soft quality synthetic fibers that doesn't prick the skin one bit. The bristles are well packed together, not as dense as other buffer brushes that I have but still dense enough on its own.

I don't know how to say it but this brush isn't something I'd reach out for all the time. I like the quality of it - it's just that I don't find it dense enough to blend powders very well and evenly. The brush head as a whole is so soft and flexible and that I'm not supposed to find that bothersome but I do. I prefer denser buffer brushes so in a way, they are stiffer and they would do a better job to disperse product more effectively. I'm not sure if I am making any sense but bottom line is - I don't find it suitable for its purpose. Also, buffer brushes can be versatile and usually supposed to work with liquid products too. So disappointing that this brush does not.

On a lighter note, I like that I can use it to blend my blush. This brush is very light and airy that I get a subtle flush look whenever I use this. Definitely a tool perfect if you are sporting a very natural makeup look! It can also be used to apply fine setting powders though not very ideal as I prefer big, fluffy powder brushes.

I find the brush quite expensive for P398 considering the fact that it has minimal uses, so I would advise you to wait for sale season before your splurge. You don't necessarily need this brush in my opinion but it's not bad to own one either. Skip it if you have a more reliable buffer brush in your stash. Meanwhile, if you love makeup tools so much like me, go buy one. I'm sure you will be able to find other uses for buffer brushes like this.

Maybelline Fit Me! Skin-Fit Powder Foundation Review

Maybelline Fit Me! Skin-Fit Powder Foundation in Warm Nude
Bought for: P349
Bought from: Maybelline

I would start this blog by venting out because our internet connection isn't stable right now. I had to keep on reloading and relaunching my browser just because the connection is very bad. So here's me - admitting that my rest day won't be as productive as I would want.

Anyway, for today, I will be sharing my thoughts on a powder foundation that has been out in the market for quite some time but is still one of the newest products of Maybelline. I purchased Maybelline Fit Me! Skin-Fit Powder Foundation in Warm Nude a few months ago but never had the chance to use as I limit myself to using makeups. When I had the chance to do a play time, I decided to open this one up and I'm really surprised. I feel like I've found my go-to powder foundation!

CLAIMS

Fit Me Powder foundation offers ultra-smooth poreless coverage that blurs pores on the face. It gives you the smoothest-looking skin with the smoothest powder.

Refined micro velvet powder fits perfectly to the skin's texture. No caking, lightweight and with SPF 32 PA+++. Available in 8 skin-fitting shades.

Shades available: Natural Beige, Porcelain, Classic Ivory, Warm Nude, Natural Buff, Pure Beige, Pure Beige, Sun Beige, Toffee.

PACKAGING

Product comes in a black cardboard box which contains a few information about the product such the shade and the benefits. The powder itself is housed in a sleek, black compact packaging with a full-sized mirror. It honestly looks aesthetically pleasing but is not exactly like my ideal kind of packaging. It's not very sturdy in my opinion. It's the kind of plastic that would go easily useless after you accidentally drop it. Also, it can look dirty as it attracts dirt and fingerprints would show up.

This isn't a major issue for me as I make sure to properly store my makeups in a way that they won't be disturbed. Also, I don't bring them with me often so. Still, I'd prefer the square type compact powders because it takes lesser space and is more ergonomic.

The product comes with a mini sponge. I don't really like this type of sponges to apply powder foundations as I prefer buffer brushes. I still keep them though because you reuse them as disposable sponges when doing someone else's makeup. Spare sponges like this can be used for baking too or removing excess makeup. So there - don't just simply throw out sponges!

TEXTURE AND EASE OF APPLICATION

It's true - this powder has a very refined texture so it would fit you whether you have smooth or textured skin type. The powder pigments is super fine that it fills out the pores making it look poreless and smooth. At first, I thought it's probably a reformulation of the old Maybelline Matte+Poreless Powder but it's actually way different. This is probably 5x more lightweight and it offers a very sheer coverage. It's very easy to blend and it doesn't crease or move around and it doesn't disturb makeup underneath.

COVERAGE AND LONGEVITY

As I have mentioned, coverage is sheer but it's still able to blur the pores and imperfections making you look fresh all day. Powder stays for a good 4 hours on my skin before I become in need of a retouch. I have a very oily skin so 4 hours is already an achievement for me. This product oxidize very little so that's a good thing. Since coverage is not very good (and if you are after it), I would suggest to use a liquid foundation underneath and the good thing is, it works well with anything I put on. I've tried almost all of my liquid foundations in my stash together with this Skin-fit and I'm amazed at how it's able to mattify the skin and make my base look even more flawless.

OVERALL PERFORMANCE

If you are looking for a powder foundation that would give you a very natural finish, look no further. This powder will definitely give you that 'skin but better' finish. It would fill in the pores without going overboard. This is even perfect for the kind of weather we have here in the Philippines. I, myself, doesn't really need heavy makeup so this is my preference. It's non-sticky and non-irritating. This is perfect to use on a daily basis especially it has a decent amount of SPF. Despite that, it doesn't look like it's giving me much flashback on photos. Also, it doesn't look too flat matte so your skin's natural glow will still show up.

Since it has a total of only 8 shades, those who have darker skin tones won't be able to find their exact match. That's the only thing I find off-putting. And I think that's it. You can never go wrong with a powder foundation worth P349 which usually go on sale from time to time. Let me know what you think of this product by sharing your comment down below! Thank you and happy blogging!

Real Vs. Fake Tarte Swirl Power Contour and Bronzer Brush + Review

Tarte Swirl Power Contour and Bronzer Brush
Bought for: $34 (approx. P1,760)
Bought from: an online shop

Here's another brush review but this time it's from a different brand which is Tarte. I'm really quite excited because this brush is the first ever brush I got from the Tarte website and a lot of vloggers has been comparing this particular brush from the bestselling Nars Ita Flat Contour Kabuki Brush ($55). A few of them has been claiming that Tarte's version is way much better in terms of price and blending factor which I cannot really say much about as I haven't tried the one from Nars. I don't know when I' ll be able to afford that since the brand rarely goes on sale and I'm not sure if they ship internationally or deliver to freight forwarding companies. Anyway, $55 is quite steep for a single brush so.

CLAIMS

A cruelty free blush and contour brush crafted with a flat bamboo handle and soft, synthetic bristles. Channel the power of tarte’s iconic Amazonian clay cheek formulas with this new eco-chic, pro-quality brush innovation. The flat and versatile, kabuki-inspired brush allows you to sweep on all-over cheek color and hold the easy-grip handle down at an angle to sculpt and slim the contours of the face – it’s as easy as swirl, tilt and define!

HOW TO USE

You're only two steps away from slimming and accentuating your best facial features - it's as easy as swirl, tilt define!

1. SWIRL: Swirl brush into your favorite powder blush and apply directly onto apples of cheeks as you would using a standard blush brush.

2. TILT and DEFINE: Tilt brush down at a slight angle to pick up your favorite bronzing or contouring shade and apply directly under cheekbones, underneath chin and across top of forehead for seamless sculpting.

This brush came with a box which I already threw out because it got deformed during the shipping process. Still, I'm glad that the brush inside still looks okay.

I appreciate that Tarte is a cruelty-free brand and they also manufacture their products to be environment-friendly and practical. The bamboo handle is very light and unique but despite that, product doesn't look cheap and flimsy. The name of the brand is slightly embossed on the handle so that's good in case you're forgetful and you needed something to distinguish which is which. Though I doubt you'll ever forget lol.

GENUINE VS. FAKE

Just so you are aware, there are imitations for Tarte brushes and I even found one for  this particular brush online! The difference is very distinguishable too. There's more white bristles on the fake one and the shape is more domed compared to the real one. The bamboo handle of the real looks more polished and well-made compared to the fake. Looking through photos, the fake one has a fluffier brush head as you look from the side corner. To be sure, just make sure to purchase from Tarte's website directly or trusted retailer.

The bristles are made of synthetics which are super, super soft. I cannot stress it further! The brush head is flat but still wide so it covers a huge area of the face so it definitely does the job so quickly.  The bristles are well-packed together, they also do not shed and they are dense but still fluffy so it distributes powder so evenly while making sure your contour is well-blended. I love the fact the it blends harsh lines so very well in a matter of few seconds. You definitely will need less effort and time with this brush. I have this contour kit I was thinking of throwing out because the shade and texture doesn't work for me. Just last week though, I gave it another try with this brush and you won't believe it - I'm keeping the contour kit! It just seemed to be waiting for the right tool after all!

Overall, I'm impressed with this Tarte Swirl Power Contour and Bronzer Brush! It's quite expensive for $34 but do not fret, Tarte's doing major sale from time to time so make sure to subscribe and get alerts! If ever you pay it in full price, I still believe that you are getting your money's worth because this brush is also an effective tool to blend not just your contour but your bronzer, blush and highlight as well! It's a brush that you can use for different purposes. Definitely, a must-have brush for me!

Sigma Beauty 18K Gold Kabuki F94 Makeup Brush Review

Sigma Beauty 18K Gold Kabuki F94 Makeup Brush
Bought for: $18.40 or approx. P2,785 | SRP: $52
Bought from: Sigma Beauty

Last year if you can still recall - I'll make you if you cannot, by visiting this blog post - I made a haul and that includes this Sigma Beauty 18K Gold Kabuki F94 Makeup Brush. This brush was released way back as part of Sigma's limited edition extravaganza collection where they feature four (4) different brushes in lavish 18K gold ferrules and sleek, black handles. Thankfully, they had it sold individually. I only had the chance to buy the kabuki one as I assume that everything else got sold out long before I started shopping from the website.

Anyway, I'm still happy that this baby waited for me because it was phased out a couple of days after I made my purchase! I don't know what else could be the purpose of this blog review if that's the case, but I'm hoping that Sigma would continue to resell these types of brushes. Not only they are efficient and functional, they are absolutely aesthetically pleasing too!

CLAIMS

Sigma Beauty 18K Gold Kabuki F94 Makeup Brush is a handy brush with short, dense and soft bristles for the application of mineral makeup powder. It gives a luxurious and even application of powder to set the makeup. This brush is also made of synthetic and antimicrobial bristles for best holding and blending effect. Wooden handle is light with eight coats of paint and primer for lasting beauty while ferrule is durable and corrosion-resistant. This brush is 100% cruelty-free product of Sigma.

When I bought this brush, it doesn't come with a box or what. It's only packed in a plastic with Sigma logo and that's it. It wasn't a big deal because first, I got it on a huge mark down price and secondly, all the items I bought together were housed securely in a sturdy box that you can even reuse for different purposes. What I'm trying to say is that, yes, it arrived in pristine condition, no dents, no damages, no broken parts or whatsoever.

This is the first time I ever own a brush that's gold-plated and if I ever get broke, I know which one from my stash to sell - just kidding! Anyway, the brush is indeed well-made and you'll know exactly that a fortune was spent to create such a lavish and gorgeous piece of a makeup brush. The handle is very sturdy and despite owning this brush for over a year now, it's still in its pristine, one piece condition.

The bristles are the softest you will ever own in your entire life. I'm not exaggerating but the brush head is super dense and soft to the skin. No pricking or tugging at all. It takes a while to dry but oh, never mind. This brush is a 100% cruelty-free product so bristles is made of the highest quality synthetics. It's white and pure which actually reminds me of goat hair but is not. The only problem I had is that the brush head gradually turns yellow in time so you have to make sure that you're using a quality brush cleanser. I love using my Beauty Blender Liquid Blender Cleanser to remove tough stains and dirt. A few drops will make the brush looks brand new again.

Because of its large brush head, it's able to cover a huge part of the skin and does the job pretty fast. You can use it to buff in mineral makeup onto the face or use it as a body brush to spread bronzers or powders. The dense, tightly packed bristles aid in even application and airbrush finish. I sometimes use it to set my makeup with a setting powder but make sure to use a light hand because this brush is quite heavy and full that it might disturb the makeup underneath.

Overall, this is a brush that's really of great quality and if you are a collector, you should get your hands on it. If I am not mistaken, this is still available in Amazon. If you are on a tight budget though, there are still a lot of other kabuki brushes that are way more accessible but still does the job. The one from MAC is well-raved and the Charm Cosmetics Angled Kabuki Buffer Brush is also something you can consider as a cheaper alternative.

IT Brushes For ULTA Airbrush Buffing Foundation Brush #110 Review

It Brushes For Ulta Airbrush Buffing Foundation Brush #110
Bought for: $24 (approx. P1,300)
Bought from: an online shop

I've recently talked about the It Brushes For Ulta Airbrush Blurring Foundation Brush just a couple of days ago and here I am talking about another foundation brush which is an exclusive product of Ulta x It Cosmetics. Basically, the former one is what I mainly use for liquid products while the latter claims to be best use with powders and minerals. In my opinion though, their purpose is interchangeable. I can use one or the other however and whenever I want and personally, it just depends on which one is clean and is ready to use.

CLAIMS

Flat, top dense bristles deposit concentrated and targeted product for full, airbrushed foundation coverage. Use with your favorite powder foundation to achieve buildable coverage. IT Brushes For ULTA Airbrush Buffing Foundation Brush #110 is custom-designed for even coverage across all parts of your face, even under the eyes.

Hair: Airbrush finish blurring synthetic brush hair
Handle: Makeup bag friendly
Lightweight, durable, rounded comfort-grip handle
Bonus: Rounded comfort grip

DIRECTION FOR USE

For the most natural airbrush look, buff in your foundation with a smooth, circular buffing motion.

Beauty BFF Tip: If you are using a primer or moisturizer before your makeup, always make sure they absorb before applying your foundation to ensure the best possible coverage.

Product has a matte silver handle and the brand name is printed on it in sleek metallic font. With regular wash, I noticed that it's easy to rub off so if you don't want that to happen, be extra careful and as much as possible, refrain from wetting the handle during cleaning. The ferrule is made of plastic but still sturdy enough to keep the brush in one piece. The whole brush has a weight to it so you can  really tell that it's made of something.

The bristles are made of synthetic two-toned fibers which is what I prefer as I'm biased towards synthetics and cruelty-free products. The bristles are indeed soft and dense and they are really packed together. I've read a few comments from ULTA website claiming that this brush sheds a lot and they break easily but none of those happen to me. I think those are isolated cases or they must have just gotten bad stocks...either way, I'm happy with mine.

What I really like about flat top brushes is that they are quite flexible. They flare out even more with regular use so if that's a problem, store them with brush nets to keep their shape. You can buff them in and they would sort of expand so they cover a pretty huge part of the face and do the job very quickly. Due to the flat head, they also apply product evenly. Because the brush head is made of dense material, it doesn't soak products too much whether it's liquid or powder. Product just sits on top and go straight to the skin as you blend.

This is a great brush that is of good quality but I don't find too many uses unlike the blurring brush. Still, it's a great value for money. It does what it's meant to such as distributing makeup all over in a seamless finish so if you aren't expecting too much, this is a must-have. It's a very reliable foundation brush that is worth keeping.
