Shiseido Perfect Foundation Brush Review

Shiseido Perfect Foundation Brush
Bought for: P1000 | SRP: P1600
Bought from: Zalora

I've been hearing lots of great feedback about this Shiseido Perfect Foundation Brush. Being someone who loves makeup brushes, I know sooner or later, I'll root for this. In fact, it has been in my wish list for like forever...well, what do you expect with something that's labeled as perfect? What's holding me back before though was the price pointpretty expensive for a tiny brush. When it went from P1,600 to almost P1000 (with a promo code) during Shiseido sale in Zalora, I just went ahead and carted it. Immediately, yes, despite the fact that I'm banning myself from buying anything.

CLAIMS

Finally, a multi-use foundation brush for use with all formulations - liquid, cream or powder. Excellent pick-up of all types of formulas for a uniform application and impeccable finish. No matter the formula use to contour and highlight to enhance your best features. Reach all facial contours with the gently tapered strands that create an angled slant. The short handle allows for precise control during application and portability for travel. Shiseido's innovative technology combines with traditional Japanese brush-making techniques to create the perfect foundation finish.

Product is housed in a transparent plastic packaging that has information about the product. The brush itself is literally small, in fact, the smallest face brush I have in my stash. I used to doubt its ability to get the job done fast because of its size but I'm liking it now because it's very portable and can fit small pouches. Check the photo down below to see how it compares to Sigma F80 Flat Kabuki Brush.

As you can see, the brush has synthetic brown bristles that are densely packed together. I know a few brushes which are as dense so I already got a picture of how it would perform. The ferrule is sleek and is colored purple and the black handle is more like acrylic than bamboo. It looks and feel sturdy despite the fact that it's light and tiny.

The brush head is small and is slightly angled so it doesn't feel awkward on the skin. The bristles are so soft and I guarantee that no hair will prick the skin. The small brush head is very useful in a way that it fits the smallest and corner parts of the face such as sides of the nose, eyes and temples. The flat surface deposits product to the skin in an even coverage. It's the perfect shape to buff foundation to the skin in stippling motion to create an airbrush finish.

This brush picks up real good amount of product and deposits it to the skin without streaky lines. The perfect way to use it, for me, is by doing the dabbing motion so in a way, you are not exfoliating the skin or opening up the pores. The brush is small and dense, you can expect that it's also hard to wash away makeup trapped inside.

If you are looking for a good quality foundation brush that can be used for any formulation, Shiseido Perfect Foundation Brush is something you ought to try. I just don't reach out to this brush more often than I do with my Morphe's and Sigma's but whenever I travel, I know that this is what I'd pick up. The size is useful but a little more surface to the brush head would do the job faster.

By the way, Shiseido has a drugstore counterpart named the Shiseido 131 Foundation Brush which looks very similar except for the color of the ferrule and handle and possibly performance. Some says the high-end one is more dense and blends foundation better than the drugstore variant which should be the case. I haven't tried that one out yet but I'm excited to.

Have you tried Shiseido Perfect Foundation Brush? Any thoughts?
